We are from South Carolina and wanted to spend Spring Break in some warm weather. My wife and I stayed here with our two sons, who are 12 and 16. We decided to come down on Friday and stay in a nearby hotel and check in on Sat. But, the owner insisted that we come early to avoid staying in a hotel that fisrt night. So, he met us and transported us and our luggage over to the island that night. Upon arrival, he gave us a full tour of the property and it was better than I had imagined. The owners have thought of everything and were more than accomodating in letting us use the place as if it were our own. While there are plenty of local restaurants in the area, we only chose to eat out once, had pizza delivered to a dock across the canal once, and made the rest of our meals at the house. Every day was a different adventure...we would take the boat out, explore the island, spend time on the huge sandbar, paddleboard, kayak, play bocci, play outdoor jenga, sit on the dock and listen to music, make smores in the fire pit, play ping pong on the kitchen table, collect shells, take naps, and just relax and watch the dolphins swim by. Probably our favorite activity was fishing from the dock. We caught no less than 8-10 varieties of fish!
I did contact the owner several times during our stay, with questions, and he was always was available or called me right back. It is a 10 hr drive from where we live to get to Longboat Key and I would definitely go back. It was well worth the drive to experience such a unique and awesome property. We are hopeful that we can get back down in the future.
This was a family vacation with my husband and three kids ages of 12 for my two twins and 9 for my son.We loved being on this private island. We saw dolphins every day while sitting on the dock. My kids got to paddleboard right next to the dolphins. We got to see green parrots in the morning and woodpeckers. We caught fish right off the dock.We enjoyed the bocce court, the jenga game and campfires. The kids loved exploring the island and taking pictures of all the nature. The house had so many areas to sit and enjoy the great views! We loved the outdoor speakers and lights that were strung in the trees.
The house was amazing. We loved the view and being able to open the house up to a screen porch. The kitchen had everything to cook a great meal. It was a gourmet kitchen! They had a kitchen table that we got to play ping-pong on. The owner was so nice and was available at all times. We had an epic vacation and we didn't want to leave.
My husband and I are very hard to impress, and we couldn't have been more impressed by this designer tree house at the beach! The entire trip was amazing, in large part due to the attention to detail Rodney and his wife have put into making this vacation house a real home. They were also extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay! Amazing people :)
We stayed for a week with our two children (3 and 12) and had so much fun making s'mores at the campfire, playing pétanque (bocce), kayaking, and spending afternoons lounging on the sandbar, while the kids searched for shells and crabs. Loved watching the sunset from the dock and early morning manatees and dolphins. :)
We made most of our meals here and it was an absolute pleasure to cook in this kitchen! (And I generally do not enjoy cooking!) They really have thought of everything you could possibly need, spices, oils, and standard condiments that may have been forgotten. And when my daughter came down with a cold I was so grateful (and surprised!)to find the turmeric and garlic on hand to help ease her congestion without having to make a trip to the store!
Everything is so well organized, finding what you need is a breeze (and even inspired me to reorganize my house when we got home!) and there is plenty of everything! Bath Towels, beach towels, dishes, pillows, blankets etc! I actually brought extra pillows and blankets bc it's seems there are never enough or they are poor quality, but what a pleasant surprise to find quality and surplus!
My husband and I are not boaters, and you do need a boat to get around, but we were able to rent a boat at cannons marina and after a couple of days my husband was able to confidently get us around and the kids had so much fun cruising the water! :)
We will remember this trip as one of our best vacations!
I stayed at this home for a week with 6 of my college girlfriends (Class of 1986). It was phenominal. There was always a breeze, so we fought over who would get to sleep in the bunks on the sleeping porch.
There is so much attention to detail as well. Great kitchen for prepping meals. And every cooking tool and spice you can imagine. We hardly left the island. But when we did there were plenty of options to try.
The boat access was a little daunting at 1st. But it was a wonderful adventure, with sunset cruises and boat rides to dinner.
Each morning we would open the magnificent doors upstairs and let the cool breezes fill the house.
And so much wildlife and many activites on the island. We had a manatee that would visit every day, caught lots of fish right from the dock, and explored the sandbar out front at low tide.
I would highly recommend this home and will return again and again.
