Why Kurt or Tammy Hubschneider chose Northern Michigan

We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. It is absolutely beautiful. With the 350 ft. of Duck Lake frontage and the 600 ft. of peaceful Mason Creek bordering the edge of the property, it is truly unique.

What makes this house unique

350 ft. of private frontage, water trampoline, raft, 2 docks, boats, swimming pool, basketball court, horseshoes, playground and recreation room. Just a great place for the entire family and to get away from it all.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We stayed in the big house for the first week of August, 2016. Our family of 7 adults and 2 kids fit pretty comfortably. The house definitely offered more than I expected (large washer/dryer, wifi, cable TV, DVD player and lots of kitchen utensils and pots and pans). We loved all the amenities on property as well. Kurt and Tammy are great owners- keeping the property well maintained and very responsive when and if issues arise. We spent a few days just on the property, but we loved going into Traverse City as well. Clinch Park was a favorite, and we loved picking blueberries and exploring on the Old Mission Peninsula. Thanks for a great vacation!”

Very accomodating!

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed the stay at Brookside in the house and all the fun activities to do while there. It was the week of the Cherry Festival and that also added to the list of things to do; however, having the pool, game room, kayaks, trampoline and paddle boats was a huge hit for the kids and adults. I planned this stay so that my sister and her family (kids and grandkids) could enjoy vacation with my brother-in-law (husband/grandpa) as he is battling pancreatic cancer. Lots of photos were taken so that these memories will play a huge part in their future. Thanks Kurt for being such a great host! Hope to return!

Mother's Day Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My siblings and I surprised my mother with a weekend away this year. What a beautiful setting for us all to honor her. This home is set up perfectly for privacy and a great open area for us all to be together. The home was spotless, well furnished, and although it was early spring, there was plenty for us all to do. Several of us went fishing a few times and the little ones played on the beach and playground. The game room provided pool, foosball and ping-pong. We had a bountiful cookout, courtesy of the gas grill and several campfires. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The owners were available the entire time and checked in to see we needed anything. They were extremely accommodating and hospitable. This home is very spacious and stocked with high-end towels, bedding, furniture, and is well appointed with fine appliances etc. We will definitely be back in the near future!

Great place for a family get together

  • 5 of 5

We met a group of high school friends and their kids in Traverse City for a fun, fall weekend. Brookside Cottages was great. The main house is perfect for a large group and is clean and well maintained. Great value for your money! It was a peaceful and quiet location but is also only a short drive to downtown Traverse City.

Great Girls Weekend Location!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the "big house" AND cottage 2 (3 bdrm) for my daughter's bachelorette weekend. It was so much better than renting hotel rooms because we were all able to gather in the common areas of the house. There were plenty of beds to accommodate everyone comfortably. Although we didn't use the other amenities (the pool, lake, kayaks, game room) the location and view were beautiful. Cottage 2 was a great space for the mother-of-the bride and girlfriends to "retreat" to. Would definitely recommend these cute cottages to anyone that didn't need We did a wine tasting tour along Leelanau Peninsula and the tour guides picked us up right at the house! It was also a very easy drive into downtown Traverse City for dinner and nightlife. So many of the "city slickers" from the SE part of Michigan were AMAZED at the beautiful starlit sky at night! Owner was very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend and definitely will look to come back!!

Great Place for Families

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a week renting the "big house" at Brookside cottages in June. The home was perfect for our group. There is plenty of space, and the layout of the house makes it so that there is still privacy/places to 'get away'. The house has a lovely wrap around porch, and even though it's a short walk to the lake, you can still see if from the house. The other 'vacationers' were very friendly. The swingset, pool, beach, watercraft rentals and game room are great for the kids. The resort is conveniently located about 15 minutes from Traverse City and a short drive to other destinations like the dunes. The resort owners are very friendly, accomodating and attentive. They put a lot of thought into the 'little touches' (dish soap, laundry detergent, etc) and a fully equipped kitchen. All in all, we would recommend this resort and would stay there again if we are ever back in Michigan.

Family Vacation Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We rented the "big house" at Brookside Cottages for a family vacation over the July 4th week. We had family from Florida, New York, and Washington DC as well as Michigan. We also rented a pontoon boat for the week and paddle boards for the week. We enjoyed so much the use of the boat to discover different private beaches along the lake and to fish. It was just wonderful! The pool is terrific and makes a great treat after a hot day in Traverse City. We all brought bikes and went into Traverse City and road the trail all around the city and through the city as it was the National Cherry Festival. We spent a day at Sleeping Bear Dunes and several family members made the trek down and set a family record of 18 minutes to climb back up!!! This house and facility is a perfect spot for a family get away. My four grandchildren were from one year to six years of age and it was perfect for all of them. The playground was wonderful and the trampoline in the water was perfect. The resort is a perfect distance from Traverse City to allow family members easy access without being in the center of all that activity. We attended a Doobie Brothers concert at Interlochen and it was terrific. Several family members played golf on a number of famous Michigan courses. This place has something for everyone, and the owners are extremely responsive to the needs of the renters. Kurt was there everyday several times servicing the pool, taking care of cottages, and just checking to be sure we were all set. I highly recommend this resort. The people in the cottages were delightful neighbors to share the area. Well worth our time and the money spent.
