Kevin and Rachel met in Austin in 1985 and married in 1996. After adventures in Grapevine, Texas and Monterey, California, they moved to beautiful Old Town Georgetown with their two girls.
Rachel Cummins purchased this bungalow in 2013
Rachel's dream to open a bed and breakfast is being realized in an unexpected way with the opening of the Sweet Lemon Inn. Part of the original plat of Georgetown, this historic property was built in 1918 and remained with the original family for more than 60 years. Following Horace and Carolyn Sweet (yes, Sweet!) purchase and restoration of the property in the 1980s, it became a commercial property in the 1990s. When Kevin and Rachel were introduced to this lovely property, they realized it was ideally situated for a Cafe and Inn. The Sweet Lemon Kitchen is now open downstairs serving breakfast and lunch from 7am - 2:30pm Tuesday through Saturday.
Loved the location - central to the Georgetown area located on top of a small coffee shop/cafe. Nice, quaint decor. Comfortable interior. 2 small issues. 1- The AC unit in the master bedroom makes a repetitive loud buzzing noise at set intervals that is very audible and disrupted my sleep all the nights I was there. I was unable to trouble shoot this issue. This occurs with the unit in the room both ON or OFF. Second - since you're above a cafe, there is outside noise at fairly early hours in the morning. If you're an early riser - this is a non issue, but if you want to sleep in on vacation past 9-10 am...there may be voices disturbing you outside from both employees and guests.
We had a short, lovely stay at the Sweet Lemon Inn. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged for comfort. Our room was beautiful, quiet and clean. The location could not have been more perfect--just a block from the town square! Thank you so much.
This was our 2nd year & we like it so much we've already booked for next year. Perfect for our girl's trip. Plenty of shopping & restaurants within walking distance. The accommodations are very clean, cute & comfortable. The sandwiches are wonderful.
The Sweet Lemon Inn is a perfect place to stay in Georgetown. It's just one block to the downtown square and surrounded by great restaurants and eclectic shopping. The Inn is beautifully decorated and every detail is accounted for. The beds are very comfortable and we all slept great. Check in and checkout were fast and easy. The owners are easy to contact and very responsive. My wife and I rented the whole place and had plenty of room for us and our three young kids. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Georgetown.
The Sweet Lemon Inn proved to be the perfect place to gather for our girl's getaway to take in the Chocolate Crawl weekend events that took place around the historic square in Georgetown TX. The cozy Inn offered a serene space for us to gather and relax and spend hours upon hours talking about all-things-life! Not only did we gather in the Inn's beautifully appointed common area, but we also took advantage of the glorious Texas weather and pulled up chairs around the table on the second floor patio that overlooks the courtyard and outdoor café. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance from the Inn--shopping, restaurants, historical buildings, natural spaces, walking trails, wineries, art galleries, and more. The Sweet Lemon Inn is a peaceful place, decorated tastefully in stunningly soft pastel colors and cottage-style decor. The pastry breakfast of raspberry scones, lemon curd, and sausage kolaches baked by the innkeeper in the bakery on the first floor of the Inn were divine. The mini chocolate cupcakes delivered as a little surprise treat were delicious. The small vase of roses that suddenly appeared on our patio table were delightful. What a weekend we had. Yes, our weekend was definitely sweetened by our stay at the Inn…and you can bet, it will be home base again for future girl's getaways.
