Great Location

We found this little gem right on Lake Champlain when we decided on renting a house on VRBO for our son's graduation from SUNY Plattsburgh this May. It was literally minutes from the campus and only about 4 minutes from our son's house on Couch Street. The cottage was very comfy with all the comforts of home. You could tell that everything was newly updated, it had a great yard with a grill and kayaks. Unfortunately we didn't to use them :(, there just wasn't enough time. Wish we had thought about a BBQ instead of reservations for dinner on graduation day. Everyone would have enjoyed that so much more. It has such a beautiful view of the mountains as the backdrop sitting right on the water of Lake Champlain. It's perfect for one to four adults or a family of 6 (2 Adults, 4 children).

Great stay, highly recommend this

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a break away, not too far a drive from Montreal. This address is easy to get to and feels like a home away from home instantly. There's a manual with all ins and outs, even a slight hiccup in the washer gets a mention. And our stay was just fantastic. For families looking for quality time in a super well equipped rental, don't look further. Restaurants are not nearby, this is a place where you cook your own meal or have a barbecue outside, don't forget to bring marshmallows.

We would love to come back and use the canoes, the weather was too cold later in season. The fantastic Ausable Chasm is also an easy drive from here. We preferred shopping in Burlington to Plattsburgh, but the ferry takes you across in 12 minutes. So that isn't an issue.

Cottage is close to lake, stunning views and very very quiet surroundings.

Great weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautifully decorated, clean lake cottage for my sister's May 2015 college graduation. The place really felt like home. It was real serenity and peacefulness. From the lake in our backyard to enclosed porch overlooking the water view. We had nice little family BBQ. We just bought food because the house was fully equipped from the bedroom to the kitchen. Too bad we could not use the available kayak because of the breezy, cool weather. If I am heading that direction again, I would definitely return.

The Perfect Cottage Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The renovated lakefront cottage was just what a longtime college friend and I had been searching for. We have been returning to SUNY Plattsburgh for alumni functions for years and, now, annually to honor a late mentor. Tired of Plattsburgh hotels, we vowed to rent a lakefront cottage. And boy, did we luck out! The owners have put great thought and detail into the renovation. Each room and space is thoughtfully planned and decorated. You'll want them to come plan your next renovation after spending time here! The enclosed porch allows for lazy conversations or book reading while gazing out on to Lake Champlain. The cottage was ideal for us and we thought we could manage perhaps one more adult. It is also suitable for a couple or a couple with one or two small children.

The water is just steps from the front of the house. It was a rainy few days but I did manage to kayak one morning (I brought my own but the house comes equipped with a kayak along with paddles & pfds') while my friend hiked on trails next to the nearby marina. It's a lovely, tranquil bay neighborhood. We can't wait to return.

Great Place for a getaway

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights during Columbus Day weekend and had a fantastic time. House is extremely well maintained, having been recently renovated and redone (brand new kitchen, bathroom, amenities, etc). Furniture is brand new.

Location is fantastic as you basically have the Lake as your backyard, beautiful views in the morning during sunrise. Really excellent setting for kicking back and enjoying fresh air, beautiful views, while having all modern amenities inside the house. Perfect for families of 3-4.

Really close (5-10min drive) to the ferry to Vermont, which makes for a great day trip to Grand isle and Burlington. Would definitely return.

a refreshing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend with our 2 children at this lovely cottage and we enjoyed every moment! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking, had excellent views of the lake, and all of the furniture was so stylish and comfortable! The added bonus of the canoe was also great fun. Excellent get away!
