About Fishigan Properties, LLC

Our family has been vacationing in Onekama for four generations. We have never seen a more perfect setting. Both lakes provide such unique offerings and to have them both within minutes is what really makes this area unique. Where else can you watch the sun rise on one lake and set on another within a half mile? What we love the most about the area is the fact that once you have experienced Onekama, you always seem to come back. Year after year and generation after generation, this is the place to make family memories.

Perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this little cottage which was perfectly located between Lake Michigan and Portage Lake. Portage Lake is across the street with public access a 1-2 minute walk. Lake Michigan beach access is less than a 5 minute drive. The owners are overly helpful and provide lots of information, including current events which was very thoughtful and appreciated! This was a last minute family vacation and we fell in love with the town. Lots of amenities are very close in this small town, including a grocery store, gas station, and restaurants. (Bring your own food to the cottage though, not many options!) The cottage is located on the main lake road and is just a few doors down from the Portage Inn. It is fully stocked with cookware and dinnerware. The only thing I ended up missing was a washer & dryer. We have a preschooler and toddler and of course these ended up being needed unexpectedly! Our family dog was even warmly welcomed and enjoyed her stay. The large front porch was beautiful to sit on and enjoy the morning lake life. We'll definitely return, and our family staying on the other side of the lake loved our location and wants to rent this location in the future.

Great vacation rental for family

  • 5 of 5

Great cottage for a vacation with the family. Clean, spacious with fully equipped kitchen. 5 minutes walk from empty lake Michigan natural beaches, best for walking, bonfires, nice view on lake Portage from the front porch. About 1.5 hour ride can get you to Sleeping Bear Dunes scenic route and dune climb. If looking for a large, kid friendly beach with restrooms/showers etc. Manistee 5th Ave is about 25 min by car. Owners provided a lot of information abut the area. It's a lake house, with a little bit of a musty smell, but it didn't bother any of us, despite our allergies.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. We are glad that you had such a great vacation. We apologize for any musty odor but our water heater gave out the week before you arrived and we are still drying out our basement. We appreciate your review and look forward to having you vacation with us again.

Perfect Michigan vacation location!

  • 5 of 5

Have vacationed in many towns along the shores of Lake Michigan and we loved Onekama. Close enough to Sleeping Bear and Leland ferry to S. Manitou Island without being too far north. The house is perfectly located close to Portage Lake and Lake Michigan access. Has all you need to cook meals and relax on the big front porch. The owner was super helpful with info on what to do and where to go. We will be back in 2016!

Amazing Time in Onekama

  • 5 of 5

We've always heard great things about Portage Lake in Onekama, and we were not disappointed. The lake(s) are amazing (yes, Portage Lake out our front door with Lake Michigan in our backyard). We took strolls down the endless sand beaches, boated, swam, fished, played shuffle board at the Inn across the way (and danced to their Friday night awesome DJ...great for kids). And the golfing in the area is incredible (including Arcadia Bluff which is the most amazing course I've seen). All of this would've been enough, but the cottage we stayed in was perfect. Bunks for the kids, nice separate bedroom for the grown-up's, kitchen, great living area (with books to swap and DirectTV for rainy days...something we didn't need to worry about). Put simply, this place rocked. If you're looking to get away with or without the kids (thinking guys golf outing up there next), this place is perfect. The owners were great too...helped us out when we lost the key :).
