Great little cottage, so peaceful and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time here. Took daily walks down the street to the dog friendly beach. It was quiet, the street didn't have much traffic so it was safe. Steve and Jane were readily available for questions. The cottage had plenty of room, we never felt crowded. I love the tall kitchen counters!

Not very clean, Very small bath room and crabby neighbors.

  • 1 of 5

Place was not very clean. The bathroom is very small. You can't even sit on the throne in a normal manner. Neighbors had an issue with us using the PUBLIC Access area. We were told it was strictly a launch. Also folks did not like the fact that I tied my small little wave runner out in the water about 5' deep and 75 yards out.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that our cottage did not meet your needs. We fill up every season and have primarily returning families without any complaints about the cottage or the community. I cannot control the behavior of my neighbors, however, I can say that we have never had any complaints about them before. In addition, when you stated that you would be bringing your wave runner, I offered a PWC tie up behind my own house which you did not use. As far as the cleanliness of our cottage, we are booked solid every summer and it has never been an issue. I have spoken to our cleaning service to ensure that they continue to be thorough and have refunded your cleaning fee. I will admit that the size of the bathroom is not what you would find in a chain hotel, but this is a summer cottage and provides a woodsy charm and a full kitchen for a price and in a location that you will not find at a hotel. Finally, I provide every one of our guests my personal cell phone number. If you had any issues during your stay, all you needed to do was let me know. I would have immediately sent over my cleaning service or even come to clean it myself. I also would have once again offered the area behind my house and our PWC tie up for your wave runner. My guests contact me all the time for recommendations, information about area attractions, or even directions. I always answer my phone and take pride in providing the best stay possible to our guests. I cannot correct an issue if I am not make aware of it.

Comfy, cozy cottage. Could be my home away from home. Spacious and well stocked. Darling porch with view of beautiful portage lake. Surrounded by beautiful grounds. My idea of nature at its best! I will be back!

Perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this little cottage which was perfectly located between Lake Michigan and Portage Lake. Portage Lake is across the street with public access a 1-2 minute walk. Lake Michigan beach access is less than a 5 minute drive. The owners are overly helpful and provide lots of information, including current events which was very thoughtful and appreciated! This was a last minute family vacation and we fell in love with the town. Lots of amenities are very close in this small town, including a grocery store, gas station, and restaurants. (Bring your own food to the cottage though, not many options!) The cottage is located on the main lake road and is just a few doors down from the Portage Inn. It is fully stocked with cookware and dinnerware. The only thing I ended up missing was a washer & dryer. We have a preschooler and toddler and of course these ended up being needed unexpectedly! Our family dog was even warmly welcomed and enjoyed her stay. The large front porch was beautiful to sit on and enjoy the morning lake life. We'll definitely return, and our family staying on the other side of the lake loved our location and wants to rent this location in the future.
