About Deborah Davis

I have been working as an interior designer for 24 years and live next door. I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1998 and thought I was going to stay for 2 years, but I'm still here! I have worked briefly in set design and currently do a lot of interior design work for the entertainment industry. I love to travel, especially to Europe, and have been a client for many vacation rentals in the US and overseas.

Deborah Davis purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Deborah Davis chose Los Angeles

I feel in love with the historic flavor of the duplex and was inspired by the original details. It is incredibly peaceful and the backyard living area is loved by all. I have had a lot of fun with the backyard lighting, fountain, and drapery lined pergola. I thought I wouldn't be living in this area for long, but I love it so much in this home I had to stay!

What makes this townhome unique

When I bought this duplex I could see the potential. I restored the original sconces in the Living Room myself, and worked to bring back the original polish and character throughout the place. Most striking of all the improvements is the back yard pergola and garden! The vegetable and rose garden is one of the most relaxing features. Feel free to help yourself to vegetables while in season - we are lucky to have 3 growing seasons in LA! The garden also includes lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, and avocado trees.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The first thing we would like to highlight is how great of a host Deborah is. Since we first contacted her, she immediately answered all of our doubts, and after requesting some more pictures of the house she kindly uploaded all we had asked for. During our stay, Deborah was always available and attentive to all of our needs in case we needed something. She had also left a lot of information about what to visit in LA and it’s surrounding areas, as well as a list of the best museums, restaurants, stores and last but not least a detailed guide of how to properly use and enjoy all the commodities that the house has to offer. As to the house itself, besides what you can appreciate in the pictures, that give a great idea of how the place actually looks like, we can say we felt extremely at ease. Being a family of 3, a couple and a son in his 20’s, the spacious nature of the house allowed us to be comfortable and enjoy our time together. It’s worth adding that the house is really well decorated, with a really warm and defined style with attention to detail, which makes staying here all that much more enjoyable. It’s located on a beautiful street on quiet neighborhood, with no traffic, which ensures a pleasurable stay without the noise from LA’s big Avenues but is also really close from all major attractions. The house also has a beautiful garden, that although we couldn’t enjoy because of the weather (we came in the winter) it’s an extra space that on a nice day makes for a great place to spend some time outdoors and enjoy a barbecue. All in all, we highly recommend staying here, since it’s a beautiful house with a great host. We’ll be sure to stay here when we come visit again!

This was a great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

This place was really nice and spacious, had great lemon tree in the back yard and we really enjoyed eating out in the backyard during the evening. We asked the host for a crock pot and she brought it over for us. So Host was very accessible and responded to our questions right away.

Couple of items I didn't care for.

1. The host advertises that this will sleep 6 people. But any guest over 4, has to pay additional fee of $15 per day each. I think she should change this and make it Sleeps 4 and not 6. Also the 5&6 guest have to sleep on an air mattress.

2. The place is advertised at $200 a night, but after all the fees mine ended up being $350 a night.

3. The Oven really needs to be upgraded, it never heated up completely. It took us over an 1 1/2 to heat up a frozen pizza.

4. The place does have nice window air conditioners. But when we arrived it was like a Hot Los Angles Day of 95 Degrees. We had to turn on all the window air conditioners and leave and come back. Would have been nice if the host would have turned those on ahead of time for us.

Awesome place to stay in you are spending time in LA

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this wonderful home during our trip to LA. The House was beautiful and well maintained. The backyard and patio were so awesome to have breakfast and dinner on. Deborah has thought of everything to make your stay worry-free. The house is perfect if you have children traveling with you. The house is big enough that everyone had space to spread out in after a long day of activities. We were well located to all that we wanted to see in LA. Highly recommend staying here!

Loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our recent stay at Deborah's property. It met our expectations and lived up to the billing. We had four adults staying and the property offered all of the amenities that we needed. It was great having laundry available as our five day stay was just a small part of our 16 day cross country adventure. We also loved that this is a pet friendly property and our Corgi had plenty of room to roam. The location was also ideal for our needs (our daughter lives about 15 minutes from the property) and was central to where we needed to go. We highly recommend this property.

Beautiful space, very central location

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 weeks in this very nice duplex. The backyard is absolutely stunning. We enjoyed the little grassy area and all of the fruit trees. Air conditioning was brand-new. The neighborhood and the next door neighbor (in the duplex) were very quiet. The location was perfect for us since we wanted to go to all the touristy places, which are in all directions (hollywood, burbank, downtown, miracle mile, etc.). Deborah is wonderful. She was extremely helpful and didn't hesitate to say yes to our quirky requests. Highly recommend.
