Townhouse style duplex with lots of original architecture balanced with updated features. Huge gated tranquil back yard living area, teak and slate dining room table for 6, and bar includes outdoor heaters under drapery-lined pergola.

Back yard includes irrigated vegetable garden, rose garden, fountain, and year-round colorful landscaping. Lots of exterior landscape lighting. The garden also includes lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, and avocado trees.

Located in the heart of LA in the very charming and upscale Miracle Mile district, also known as the Museum District. It's very central and perfectly situated to be a base for your vacation or work destinations: Hollywood, Melrose, Miracle Mile museums, LACMA, Mid Wilshire Blvd museums, The Grove and Farmers Market, Walk of Fame, Hollywood Bowl, Culver City, Burbank, Universal Studios, UCLA, USC. It is only a 10 minute drive to Hollywood, downtown LA, LA Live, Staples Center, Disney Hall, Universal Citywalk, Dodger Stadium, and Griffith Park. Beaches are a quick 30 minute drive via freeways with the 101, 5, and 10 Fwy easily accessed.

GATED BACKYARD LIVING AREA:

LA is about living outdoors and this home offers a tranquil setting for dining and lounging. The lounge area includes a bar and charcoal grill area stocked with wood chips and briquettes, chandeliers, dramatic lighting, and a vegetable/rose garden with a peaceful fountain. There are outdoor heaters when the nights are chilly, and you can pull the sheer draperies surrounding the pergola if you want some privacy. Even LA locals covet this space!

BEDROOMS:

The two bedrooms are on the second floor with the bathroom. Each bedroom is spacious and well appointed featuring a new queen organic cotton pillow top mattress, and luxurious high thread-count linens. Allergy free pillows in firm or extra firm, as well as feather pillows are provided.

LIVING ROOM:

The spacious living room features comfortable and stylish seating where you can enjoy a broad range of television features. There is a new 42” smart TV with internet capability including Netflix access, Pandora, Hulu, and much more.

DINING ROOM:

The spacious dining room features a custom nickel-plated glass top table with very comfortable oval backed, upholstered chairs. Table seats 6.

KITCHEN:

The updated kitchen is designed for cooking with white crisp appliances, tile floors, and plenty of cabinet space. The refrigerator includes a refrigerator with ice-maker, gas cook top, gas oven, microwave, and dishwasher. There are also three different ways to make your coffee! A traditional American drip coffee maker, French press, Italian Moka pot, and a tea pot. A large selection of tea and hot chocolate are provided.

BATHS:

The full bathroom features all tile floors and walls with original architectural archway shower/tub enclosure and original and large mirrored vanity. Bathrooms are stocked with plush Egyptian cotton towels, soaps, and shampoos.

LAUNDRY ROOM:

New, full sized, washer and dryer, are provided along with clothes iron, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets.

WIFI AND OFFICE:

Perfect for work oriented trips, the front bedroom includes a large L-shaped desk with gorgeous views, complete with computer and printer. Free wifi is available throughout the house.

DURATION OF RENTALS:

This home is available for a minimum of 5 night rental, and is also available for longer term stays.

About Deborah Davis

I have been working as an interior designer for 24 years and live next door. I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1998 and thought I was going to stay for 2 years, but I'm still here. I have worked briefly in set design and currently do a lot of interior design work for the entertainment industry. I love to travel, especially to Europe, and have been a client for many vacation rentals in the US and overseas.

Why Deborah Davis chose Los Angeles

I feel in love with the historic flavor of the duplex and was inspired by the original details. It is incredibly peaceful and the backyard living area is loved by all. I have had a lot of fun with the backyard lighting, fountain, and drapery lined pergola. I thought I wouldn't be living in this area for long, but I love it so much in this home I had to stay!

What makes this townhome unique

When I bought this duplex I could see the potential. I restored the original sconces in the Living Room myself, and worked to bring back the original polish and character throughout the place. Most striking of all the improvements is the back yard pergola and garden! The vegetable and rose garden is one of the most relaxing features. Feel free to help yourself to vegetables while in season - we are lucky to have 3 growing seasons in LA! The garden also includes lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, and avocado trees.

The first thing we would like to highlight is how great of a host Deborah is. Since we first contacted her, she immediately answered all of our doubts, and after requesting some more pictures of the house she kindly uploaded all we had asked for. During our stay, Deborah was always available and attentive to all of our needs in case we needed something. She had also left a lot of information about what to visit in LA and it’s surrounding areas, as well as a list of the best museums, restaurants, stores and last but not least a detailed guide of how to properly use and enjoy all the commodities that the house has to offer. As to the house itself, besides what you can appreciate in the pictures, that give a great idea of how the place actually looks like, we can say we felt extremely at ease. Being a family of 3, a couple and a son in his 20’s, the spacious nature of the house allowed us to be comfortable and enjoy our time together. It’s worth adding that the house is really well decorated, with a really warm and defined style with attention to detail, which makes staying here all that much more enjoyable. It’s located on a beautiful street on quiet neighborhood, with no traffic, which ensures a pleasurable stay without the noise from LA’s big Avenues but is also really close from all major attractions. The house also has a beautiful garden, that although we couldn’t enjoy because of the weather (we came in the winter) it’s an extra space that on a nice day makes for a great place to spend some time outdoors and enjoy a barbecue. All in all, we highly recommend staying here, since it’s a beautiful house with a great host. We’ll be sure to stay here when we come visit again!

Not great.

Overall it was decent. The beds were comfortable and the proximity to Hollywood Blvd, Museums, Griffith Park, etc. was nice. We even drove down to Venice beach and Santa Monica, which was only about 30 minutes.

Some of the things that had a negative impact on our stay could be rectified. I sent a message to Deborah a few days ago through HomeAway but have not gotten any reply.

House was not as clean as it should have been. Dust on surfaces in the bedroom, bathroom, floors, along with long black hair. also dirty pans and food stuck on utensils. I would have expected a professional cleaning crew, not a friend with a broom. It was not a thorough cleaning, and we didn't feel very comfortable.

It states that both Tv's have direct tv but this is not the case. Upstairs TV did not get ANY channels (I tried for over an hour searching on different settings). The downstairs TV has Roku, which plays pre-recorded news and some shows but nothing live. So if you like to watch local news or weather, or national news you cannot. I called the owner, she did call me back a few hours later and said we could try to trouble shoot if I called her back. We had already gone out for the day. I consider myself tech savvy and had tried everything already.

A/C Units were still in a few of the windows (screwed in) so I couldn't remove them. It got down to the 40's at night so the drafts that came in around these window units in the bedroom and living room was uncomfortable in the evening and early morning. There were no extra blankets. Not being able to close and lock those windows was also a safety concern. They should be removed in the winter. The other issue with the window units is that the sirens that blast through the night and early morning are very loud because these windows are essentially open. With the entire home having wood and tile floors that noise is very loud and woke us all up just about every night at all hours. Nothing worse than not getting a good night sleep on vacation.

The sofa out back is not an outdoor sofa and is disintegrating. If you sit on it your clothes will be covered with a very fine fabric (almost powder like) and is very difficult to remove from say, a black jacket. It is also not as private as the picture shows. The neighbors house to the right which is very close, looks directly into this area. Not a big deal because we didn't spend much time out here being that it wasn't comfortable or clean.

Owner's Response: Mark, I am so sorry that you had a less than perfect stay. We had attempted to accommodate your early check-in and my housekeeper Jenna is usually so exemplary that other guests have thanked her by name in my guest book! I agree in that a tall adult will not be comfortable sleeping on the sofa in the Living Room, which is why I charge an extra fee for the air mattress in case a group of guests need more than the two queen beds to accommodate their sleeping arrangements. Interesting that I was able to access live TV right away after testing the remote by selecting the Cable icon, however I totally understand that it can be difficult using a system that is not familiar. I have rewritten the directions to the TV so all will be able to take advantage of the Live TV, and On Demand package, including HBO. Deborah

OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM IS SOOOOOOOO NICE!

It was so pleasant to take our breakfast, or our lunch, out to the "living room" and enjoy the quiet and lovely garden before we started our day. In warmer weather it would be great at night.... that chandelier gives the space so much "atmosphere." We later learned that Deborah is a designer of commercial interiors, and that explained the VERY high quality furnishings, and the whimsey of the Outdoor Living Room! (A very nice lady, BTW!)

The location is extremely convenient... All the sights we wanted to see were 10 - 20 minutes away. The house is located in a relatively quiet neighborhood but three major surface streets are 2 blocks away, so getting places was very easy.

We highly recommend this comfortable, private, well-appointed rental.!!!

Oasis in the midst of the busy city!

I recently had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful place in the heart of the bustling city, yet it is quiet, serene and very relaxing. The main living area has comfortable seating and lots of windows and the dining area seats 6 very comfortably. The kitchen looks out over the backyard which is a haven unto itself.

Upstairs are two bedrooms with very comfortable beds (yes, I did try them both!) and there is a small sofa in one bedroom that is great for reading or watching the tv that is tucked away in the antique armoire. The bathroom is very well maintained and has everything you need for a long stay.

The backyard outdoor living space was by far my favorite spot, however. I was in LA on business and had a lot of prep to do; which I was able to accomplish sitting at the large outdoor table or on the sofa in the seating area. At night, the chandelier lighting adds a festive touch and is conducive to putting away that laptop to enjoy a little wine and dinner alfresco.

All in all, this is a great place and the owner is a delight!

Deborah的房子非常漂亮,尤其是花园。由于加州气候宜人,所以大部分时间都可以在花园中读书看报,吃饭聊天。园中植物比较多。远离城市,鸟鸣狗叫。主人很好客,但凡有要求都可以提出来。房子位置比较好,游客可能去的旅游热点除Disneyland外,都比较方便。是个不错的选择。

A Hidden Gem

I was researching hotels in the general area and opted to check out VRBO and I am so glad I did. This rental is truly a hidden treasure with all the amenities and you honestly feel right at home. I especially enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of the back yard with a fountain that provides the perfect place to meditate. The unit was extremely clean and the beds very comfortable. It is also very centrally located and is within ten miles of all of the primary destination points in Los Angeles. I cannot recommend this place enough and hope to be back in the future!

Great house in great part of L.A with great amenities and service.

I thought this was a great house in great part of L.A, with great amenities and great service. The owners were very nice, too. I hope to stay there again soon. As others commented, it felt like home. Great backyard; it felt private, secluded and sanctuary-like.
