Bradenton Beach House Rental Photos and Description

Beach, Pool, 2 Decks Gulf Views, 3 BR/2 Bath, Sleeps 9, 2nd Flr, 1660 square ft

Anna Maria Island is Florida's best kept secret: beautiful white beaches, older Florida charm, award winning restaurants, golf courses nearby, and pristine shopping all within easy walking and driving distance, or jump aboard the free 'Anna Maria Island Trolley', which stops near Gulf-View Retreat. The beach is white sugar sand and 7 miles long. The area is known for its splendid sunsets.

Spend the day on the beach at Sunset Park, which is a simple 2-minute walk from the Gulf-View Retreat, or hang out fishing in one of the many great spots nearby or in a boat on the Gulf of Mexico. The Katie Pierola Sunset Park beach area across the street is located right on the 7 miles of unobstructed Anna Maria Island beaches. Sightings along the Gulf of Mexico beach and inter-coastal waterway include Manatees, Rays, Dolphins, many kinds of fish, huge Pelicans, Blue Herons, Egrets, Osprey, Terns, Gulls, and other amazing creatures. Some people even get married at the Sunset Park beach area and stay in the home with family! Common sites along the beach areas include Sea Turtle nests and bird nesting sanctuaries during special times of the year.

While the beach on the Gulf of Mexico is 7 miles of uninterrupted sand with very few people next to our home, if you want crowds of people at the public beaches, you can go south to Coquina Beach at the south end of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, or to Manatee County Beach at the west end of Manatee Avenue in Holmes Beach, or to Anna Maria Pier at the east end of Pine Avenue for the intercoastal/Tampa Bay access. Anna Maria Pier is a special place where many times you can see fish, rays, dolphins, and manatees swimming underneath you as well as fish from the dock and have a nice meal or an ice cream cone at Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop.

The Herb Dolan Park, an easy five block walk or bike ride on 26th Street North and Avenue A, is an open park area with a terrific view of Sarasota Bay, Anna Maria Sound and Tampa Bay. The Herb Dolan Park features picnic areas, basketball court, playing field, swing set, play structure and a Kayak launch.

After enjoying the beach or park, you can use two outdoor showers next to the pool to wipe the beach sand off before getting in the pool. Kick your feet in the water in the new heated swimming pool with a special sun shelf for toddlers or adults to sit on with Adirondack-style chairs including nice tile siding and multiple sitting shelves. Head up to the Crow's Nest deck and watch the dolphins swim by in the Gulf of Mexico next to the beach. If you're in the mood to tour around the rest of the island, catch the free trolley out the back door and it will take you to any of the beaches, restaurants, shops or grocery stores along Gulf Drive anywhere on Anna Maria Island. Take the trolley one stop down (or stroll along the beach the one mile) to the old historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach to enjoy the Key West style restaurants and shops. If you enjoy painting or photography, the sunsets are among the best in the world.

The new swimming pool includes a large sun shelf where you can place the plastic Adirondack-style chairs in the water and kick your feet around the water, which is about 6-8 inches deep. The sun shelf also includes a fountain. Then the pool has a sitting shelf around 18 inches deep. The rest of the pool is about 3 to 5.5 feet deep. The pool includes two more sitting shelf's on the far end that are around 18 inches deep. One of those extra sitting shelves on the far end has a soaker spout to massage bad backs. Use the pool toys provided including water noodles, beach balls, and other throwing balls. The new pool includes lots of deck, yard area, and landscaping to sit around and watch the kids play in the pool.

Surrounding the swimming pool and pool deck is soft grass that is easy on the feet as well as various palm trees of different sizes that increase your privacy including Areca Palms, Queen Palms, Fishtail Palms, and Palmetto Palms. A large Frangipani/Plumeria tree creates beautiful large flower blossom clusters usually in May or June, which smell ideal and are the basis for Hawaiian leas.

The Gulf-View Retreat offers everything you need for your beach stay! Beach toys for the kids are available in our outdoor shed. Dishes, pots, pans, linens and towels are all provided - just bring your swimsuit and enjoy! The Gulf-View Retreat features a split plan with the master bedroom having it's own bathroom and on the other two queen-size bedrooms sharing one bath. There is an additional pull out sofa bed in the family room. Granite countertops throughout the unit provide luxury at your fingertips. Other amenities to perfect your stay include:

Open decks with Gulf of Mexico views

New Pool with large Sun Shelf and many Sitting Shelf's

2 Kayaks

Paddle Board

Fire Pit with lighted Areca Palms and comfortable chairs

Big Yard

Crows Nest third-floor balcony makes enjoying the sunsets and night-time stars an incredible experience

High Speed Wireless Internet service with 72 MB per second speeds

New Trane air conditioning unit

1,660 square feet living spa

The Gulf-View Retreat is the independent second floor of the home, while the first floor can be rented separately through the Pool-Side Retreat listing ( vrbo #614098). Each floor is a completely self-sustaining, independent unit with its own BBQ, patio furniture and entry way. Both floors can be combined for family reunions, retreats or multiple family vacations if you contact us, where both floors would include:

Complete privacy for the entire home

Sleeps 18 People

6 Bedrooms and 2 Sleeper-Sofas in common areas

12 Beds of differing sizes

5 Car Parking Spaces

5 Televisions

3 Bathrooms

2,600 square feet

2 Granite-Countertop Kitchens

2 Washers & 2 Dryers

2 Grills

Private Crows Nest third-floor balcony makes enjoying the sunsets and night-time stars an incredible experience

Private New Pool with large Sun Shelf and many Sitting Shelf's

New Fire Pit with lighted Areca Palms and comfortable chairs surrounding it

Open lanai and patio

Big Yard

Wireless Internet service with 20MB per second speeds

6 Bikes for riding around the neighborhood including kids bikes

2 New Trane air conditioning units

And much more...

Our home is much easier to navigate than 3-story duplexes on Anna Maria Island because our first floor is on the ground level and the second floor is one easy set of stairs. Other homes on the island tend to require climbing multiple flights of stairs up or taking elevators because their homes begin on the second floor and go up to the third floor.

If you rent just the Gulf-View Retreat, then there are a few 'common' areas for the two floors including the pool, yard, fire-pit, toys and 3rd story 'Crow's Nest' deck. Contact us for a Reunion Retreat where you can rent both floors including the entire house for special occasions.

In case you would like to look at the Gulf-View Retreat on Google Earth or another mapping program, the physical street address of the Gulf-View Retreat is:

Gulf-View Retreat

2208 Avenue C

Bradenton Beach, FL 34217

(if you know Bradenton Beach, this location is right near the only S-curve on Gulf Drive in Bradenton Beach, which encourages traffic to slow down as well)

We have more restaurant recommendations in our information book in the home but here are some of our favorites things to do are:

Almost every sunset at the beach over the Gulf of Mexico is great, especially when there are some clouds, which make fascinating views.

Of course, just beach-combing, walking or jogging along the white sand beach is awesome.

Our kids enjoy building sand castles, playing whiffle ball in the beach breeze on the sand along with Frisbee (heavy Frisbee recommended). If the kids dig their hands into the sand, they can find little water bugs in small shells, etc. but please resist the temptation to bring them back to the home as they start stinking as they die <g>. Extra beach toys and souvenirs can be found at Island Bazaar.

Live music nightly at Manatee Public Beach with dinner on the beach (a little greasy) and the margaritas at the outdoor bar are good. Ice Cream afterward at Holy Cow Ice Cream is good and if you can time it for 7pm one night, then you see the owners feed the fish, eel, and shark, etc. The knick knacks and signs there are also interesting to read and possibly purchase.

Cortez fishing village restaurants have excellent seafood and some have live music. Cortez Kitchen is our favorite on the dock.

Coquina Baywalk is real nice to watch the sunrise or anytime. Bean Point and Coquina Beach are great beaches to visit along with Sunset Park next to home.

Our kids love taking the free trolley around the corner up to Anna Maria Pier and looking for fish in the water (especially in the morning to early afternoon when you can see well through the clear water), talking to the fisherman, and eating at the restaurant or getting ice cream at Two Scoops. The Blueberry Pie ice cream is my favorite... Trolley stops by the home every 20 minutes from about 6am to 10pm.

We have 3 favorites for breakfasts: 1) Rod & Reel Pier 2) Ginny's & Jane E's and 3) The Donut Experiment (fun for the kids but not completely filling).

Eco tours and on the Gulf and Intercoastal via boats, kayaks and jet skis are always nice.

The Ringling Museum in Sarasota is great.

There is a small reef of rocks about 150 feet northwest from the Sunset Park Beach directly west of our home. I like to swim out to it and then dive down 8-10 feet to see colorful fish like the striped Sheepshead, etc.

The Regina is a sugar barge that sunk off Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island during a storm in 1940. It is in about 20 feet of water just 150 feet or so off the beach. It is marked with a buoy. The Regina is Florida's 10th Shipwreck Underwater Archaeological Preserve

About Rex Geissler

Growing up in Florida, I enjoyed the best of the beaches. It was always a special time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with family and friends. I had heard about the beaches south of Tampa where I grew up but did not experience them until I was an adult when I went to Anna Maria Island with my family. We fell in love with the area. And since my husband is from Colorado and we live on a mountain property named Quartz Mountain Ranch, the island beach gives us an incredible contrast to the mountains.

Rex Geissler purchased this house in 2014

Why Rex Geissler chose Anna Maria Island

When we first saw this property, we fell instantly in love with it. There is a warmth in this home and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

The proximity to the beach, the unobstructed Gulf views from the Gulf-View Retreat deck and from the Crows Nest deck, the brand new heated swimming pool, the Fire Pit with lighted Areca Plams, the paddle board, 2 kayaks, and the closeness to the trolley stop make this the perfect property to enjoy all that the Anna Maria Island has to offer!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I have rented places on aMI before and this is the place I will come back to. Quality furnishings, Wolfgang-puck Pans, fridge with icemaker and frosted mugs. Beach chairs and toys if you have children. Beautiful bedrooms and everything you need. The pictures on line are what you get and more. What a view and we loved the crows nest deck. Our first vacation with another couple. Worked out great with 2 bathrooms too.

Amazing, Relaxing, with all the comforts of Home !!

  • 5 of 5

I would like to thank the Geisslers, for providing such an accommodating home. It is in a wonderful location, only one block to the beautiful beach of Anna Maria Island. It is a short walk to the town of Bradenton Beach, as well as both Coquina Beach and Manatee Beach. We were fortunate to be able to stay for a month. A beach walk everyday, and sunsets every night. We were able to sit and relax on our deck with a great view overlooking the shoreline and beach to watch the sunsets, as well as watching the dolphins in the surf on several occasions.

We were there with our daughter and young grandchildren. They have provided all of the amenities & comforts of home and toys available for beach and pool play. The property was well maintained, some of the pool toys were a bit worn, but new ones arrived during our stay. The house was clean and comfortable. The salt water pool was amazing, our granddaughter learned to swim amazingly while there, she was in the pool everyday, multiple times.

Rex was great to work with, quick to communicate and very considerate of all of our needs. Again thank you for the gracious customer service & hosting.

We would highly recommend this property to anyone with families, especially great for young children, as well as anyone just looking for quiet relaxing time!

One of our best vacations ever, our only regret is that we were unable to stay longer !! We will for sure be back !!! Love the laid back and easy going atmosphere of the island !!

GREAT HOME EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY WANT OR NEED!!!

  • 5 of 5

WONDERFUL HOME!! ALTHOUGH WE LIVE IN SARASOTA IT WAS NICE TO ESCAPE TO A BEACH LOCATION LESS THAN AN HOUR AWAY AND DIFFERENT FOR A CHANGE. THE OWNERS WERE SO RESPONSIVE AND EAGER TO MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT. THERE WERE ALL KINDS OF BEACH FUN THINGS FOR OUR USE, EVEN A WAGON TO TRANSPORT EVERYTHING IN. THE POOL WAS GREAT, ,AND HAVING THE FIRE PIT WAS AN EXTRA SPECIAL TREAT. MAKING SMORES AT THE END OF A BOATING DAY WAS RELAXING AND FUN. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT... CLOSE ACCESS TO BRIDGE STREET, RESTAURANTS, FISHING BOATS, ETC. WE WERE ONLY THERE FOR 3 DAYS BUT PLAN A LONGER STAY NEXT TIME AROUND. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND GULF-VIEW RETREAT!! Pleased but disappointed

  • 3 of 5

Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay at the Gulfview Retreat although there were a few disappointments. Upon arrival the pool had not been cleaned and progressively became worse over a couple of days. The pool man was very quick to arrive and quickly get it crystal clear. Apparently the pump wasn't working properly due to a recent power surge. Pool and beach accessories need updated. The paddle board is missing the fin and the leg strap is broken. One of the inflatable kayaks will not hold air. The boogie boards are all broke in the middle. The beach chairs are rusted. Rusty water leaked onto our personal beach towels and bathing suits while transporting them which also ruined them. There was a missing corn hole bag. Fire pit was great we used it almost every night. Access to the beach from the back gate is useless. Construction in front of the home leaves a narrow unkept path that you may not want to walk through as we did see a black snake in the back yard. It wasn't terrible to walk around the block to the beach access but disappointing as the quick access was one reason I chose this home. The original photos didn't show the construction only an empty lot. Inside is as depicted although it appeared no one had been inside for a while as counters and stove were dusty. Dishes from cabinets were gritty and had to be washed before use. Kitchen is stocked with everything you would use at home except a mixer and a crockpot. There were grilling tools but I would suggest a brush for barbecuing. We pulled out the sofa bed and put it right back. Obviously unattended to by cleaning staff. Despite a few disappointments we were pleased with this rental. Owners are very attentive and quick to respond. The only reason I won't be renting again is because we have decided to stay in Anna Maria next trip. Bean Point is by far the best part of the island. Suggetions to owners: larger outdoor storage unit to store new beach chairs, purchase new toys and ensure they are in good shape between each guest, invest in more detail oriented cleaning staff, if you have rights to the narrow path tend to it and make it useable.

Owner's Response: We value every guest that stays with us and are extremely conscientious and responsive to any needs. We work together with guests in order to provide a workable and flexible payment plan over short notice to allow others to stay with us. This flexibility was not mentioned in the feedback. Our cleaners are wonderful and do a great job each and every week. When the guest mentioned the pool issue, we contacted the pool cleaner immediately who responded very quickly. Tropical Storm Hermine hit just prior to the guest's stay. Unknown to us, Hermine knocked out the Salt Generator power, which the pool cleaner quickly remedied. The entire Salt Generator and the associated wiring were completely replaced. The broken boogie boards have been replaced and some of the chairs replaced and are brand new. We do not own or maintain the neighbor's property or path as that is their property, not ours. Access to the beach through the gate was not discussed or promised. We update photos of the home consistently, left voicemails for the guest, and offered to answer any questions multiple times before renting but none were asked. We love to have guests enjoy our home and look forward to future visits. Best Regards, Rex & Michele

The gulf view property was fantastic!

  • 4 of 5

The listing description was accurate and met expectations. Everything we could have wanted was provided and in good working order. The property was clean and well maintained which made our experience most enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend this property to friends and family. The only drawback was the construction of a new home on the vacant lot and then a few days later, a grounds clearing crew began clearing the lot next door to prepare for another home. This, however was not the property owners fault, just bad timing for our vacation. I would certainly stay again!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Nice property with a great view and location. It was well accommodated with beach and pool toys. The bicycles were dilapidated and unusable however.
