About the property

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Baths, Completely Rebuilt In 2013, Best Location In Town

Recently featured in Marin Magazine, this mid-century modern home has a comfortable and classic feel, incorporating jaw-dropping views with abundant light to allow for a warm and inviting feel. This home is perfect for entertaining and is located on what is known locally as one of the, if not THE, best streets in Mill Valley. Walk to downtown Mill Valley in just 10 minutes, or hike The 'Lovell Loop', which is one of the most famous walks in the area. The Lovell Loop is at your doorstep and takes you towards the mountain, by beautiful Cascade Falls, and down Cascade Canyon past the award winning Mill Valley Public Library and into the downtown of Mill Valley and it's fantastic dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

The home itself is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath situated on 2 levels. The entry brings you into a great room with loft like feel, and an open floor plan with the kitchen, dining room, and living room, as well as sliding doors leading to 3 separate decks. There is a nice home office with dead-on views of Mt. Tamalpais with WiFi (accessible throughout the home) as well as access to a wireless printer. A beautiful half-bath (also with Mt. Tam views) and washer and dryer are accessed from the main level as well. One of the decks off the main level offers a nice outdoor gas fireplace- the perfect place to eat dinner on warm summer nights or enjoy a glass of wine after the kids have gone to bed.

The second floor hosts the master bedroom with a king bed, sliders leading to a private deck, and large walk-in closet with cedar flooring, as well as amazing master bath with walk-in shower and deep soaking tub overlooking private canyon views.

The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed, built-in bookshelves, desk, picture window with Mt. Tam and canyon views, as well as it's own sliders leading to a deck.

The 3rd bedroom has bunk beds with the top bed being a twin and the bottom bed a double which can sleep 2 small children or one adult quite comfortably. There is yet another sliding door leading to it's own private deck with canyon views.

There is parking for 2 cars in the carport and plenty of on-street parking available as well.

Being in this home you feel as if you are truly on vacation without even leaving the house, yet you are so close to the very best of Marin County, San Francisco, and the Napa and Sonoma wine countries.

About Cherie Simpson

We are blessed to be raising our 3 sons in this wonderful community with it's award winning schools, beautiful scenery, and amazing people. Truly living our dream.

Cherie Simpson purchased this house in 2012

Why Cherie Simpson chose The Bay Area

Mill Valley residents for 17 years, we originally rented the house directly next door to this home and fell in love with Mill Valley, but especially this area, it's weather, and close proximity to downtown in particular. We built a home in a different area of MV, but kept our eyes open knowing that we eventually wanted to return to this area. When this house became available in late 2011 we bought the property almost sight unseen and set about transforming it into our dream home.

We spend summers in Newport Beach, Ca, and love to share our home with family and friends.

What makes this house unique

This home is located in the very best micro-climate in Mill Valley, consistently warmer than most areas, with less fog and wind, and generally the first to clear when fog turns to sun. The views are dramatic and inspiring, and it is a very brief walk to downtown, as well as easily accessible to the many trails and paths of Mt. Tamalpais. The Golden Gate Bridge is just 15 minutes away, Muir Woods 15 minutes away, and Wine Country 45 minutes north.

Couldn't have been any better!

  • 5 of 5

The house is as beautiful as the VRBO photos show it to be. The views of Mt Tam are riveting.

The house itself was immaculately clean, well-equipped, and a joy to live in for a week. The

owners were most accommodating and so easy to work with. The location lends itself to many walks

and hikes, with beautiful scenery including a waterfall. The location was quiet. It is a gem.

Gorgeous home in Mill Valley!

  • 5 of 5

My family and my sister's family (4 adults and 4 children, ages 9-12) enjoyed a wonderful week here in Mill Valley. We brought an inflatable twin mattress for our son and the two smallest children shared the double bed on the bottom bunk. The house is extremely well taken care of and newly remodeled. It is very clean but super comfortable. There are toys for the children to play with and so many travel books to look at to help plan your excursions. The views are stunning, the kitchen is a dream, and the neighborhood is charming. The location is great, just a short drive into San Francisco, Sausalito, and Tiburon. Point Reyes and Sonoma is only about an hour away. There are some great restaurants in the area, we really enjoyed Molina, Super Duper Burger and the juice shop in town. One of my favorite activies during our stay was our morning jogs right outside the door and up the street. We found Cascade Falls trail a couple of miles away. So thankful we found this gem, it made our stay all the more memorable. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit. Cherie was wonderful to work with and very responsive to our questions!

amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks and absolutely loved it! The view is incredible. The house seems like new and very clean and uncluttered. The towels were so soft, like new. The location is amazing - walked into town everyday. Uphill on way back was the exercise. Really felt like we lived there and not just tourists bc Mill Valley is not a tourist town. Great hiking nearby and really quick drive or boat into SF. Perfect rental !

Best choice in Mill Valley!

  • 5 of 5

We actually live in Mill Valley and needed an alternate place to stay while our home was being remodeled. We were so very lucky to have the pleasure of staying at Cherie's beautiful home for a couple weeks - it was like a mini vacation!

The location is really the best in Mill Valley. The home is on a hill with an amazing view but still walking distance to town and hassle-free driving distance to the highway, Muir Woods, etc. and there are hiking trails and loops right out your door. I had a wonderful time walking the Lovell loop with my three month old every morning - after a very easy 2 miles or so you drop into town for a delicious coffee and then head back up the hill, perfect way to start the day!

The home was also perfect for us - very clean, well stocked (cooking supplies, board games, maps and guidebooks, ping pong, etc.), ample parking (this is sometimes an issue in MV), tastefully decorated (modern beachy style - very California), large bedrooms, indoor-outdoor flow, and useable outdoor space with stellar views from just about every window.

I highly recommend this rental. As a Mill Valley resident, I think it offers the best of both our town and community. I didn't want to leave!
