About Jamie

Originally from upstate NY. Purchased this property recently for a place my family can visit and somewhere eventually I can stay for a couple months of the year.

Jamie purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Jamie chose Port Royal

I have been looking for years for a spot that I could just relax and enjoy the water. I've traveled from Honduras to the eastern Caribbean chain looking for a spot to call my own and finally found everything I wanted here.

What makes this cottage unique

South Bimini is unique with the old charm of Bahamas but in fifteen minutes you can be at a casino, swim up bar, or fine restaurant eating sushi. Sport fishing, diving, snorkeling is all within your reach. Unless you just want relax on the porch with a cold beverage watching the fish swim by.

Couldn't actually stay in the house.

  • 3 of 5

Jamie's house is very cute, clean and the dock is great. However, we couldn't stay in the house due to the air conditioning being out. Jamie had told us prior that the central AC was broken but a window unit had been installed. We were okay with that however when we arrived and tried the window AC, it too was broken. We called Jamie and he did everything he could to help us, but being in NY and not in Bimini, there was just so much he could do. He has to rely on the help/kindness of his neighbors as there is no property manager if an issue arises. Long story short, after waiting around for a few hours (which was a bummer), the next door neighbor Kenny and Pauline saved the day. They live on the island and rent the 2/2 blue house that shares the dock with Jamie's house. They said we could stay in there for the 4 nights, as they had a last minute cancellation. They didn't even charge us more, just what we paid Jamie even though the house was much bigger. It was amazing! Their house is wonderful, so clean and had everything you could ever need. Plus Kenny and Pauline are there if you need them, which as you can see from our adventure is a huge plus! Overall Jamie's house would have been just fine if in working order, however consider this your cautionary tale, not sure where we would have ended up if Kenny and Pauline hadn't stepped in.

Owner's Response: Daniele, It was very unfortunate the AC unit was working until moments before you arrived. I went in after you left and repaired the AC. I did have to call and work out a deal with my neighbors for you to stay there and paid them on your behalf. That is the great part about my neighbors we always work together to make sure everyone is taken care of. Sorry you had to wait for the situation to be resolved. I would be happy to make it up to you.

Very nice place. Very clean and well kept up

Would definitely stay here again. Nice house with plenty of room for 4 people. The mosquitos will carry you away but that's any island. Very quite and peaceful. Need to rent a golf cart to be able to see the island.

Cozy House with a Great View!

  • 5 of 5

Jamie was so responsive and accommodating. The house was great, with a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen stocked with all the utensils you'd need. The house is also walking distance from several beaches where you can search for shells, watch the fish, and look for starfish. I spent every morning eating breakfast and watching the fish (and some sharks!) swim by the dock. I'll definitely be back to both Bimini and this property!

The place was absolutely everything we needed. Nice dock, nice beads and good cool A/C. If you have a boat that is a good way to get around but if you can rent a golf cart even better...........Went to two of the local bars and had a great time with locals and visitor.............local were all nice and helpful. Would bring drinking water........they have a soft water system and while it is safe to drink not so tasty..........also paper goods need to be brought in. Lots of condiments and spices.........THANKS so much for the coffee and coffee filters......

Fantastic, gorgeous place!

  • 5 of 5

I am so happy with our stay here! Jamie was very easy to contact and was very responsive with emails, text/calls. The place is absolutely flawless inside - clean to perfection, lots of towels and beautiful interior! There was only one roll of toilet paper but the convenient store down the road sells all sorts of necessary things like that. Once I took a shower second and did not have much hot water left - so my boyfriend and I would wait 30 minutes in between showers and that worked perfectly. The phone for Bimini calls didn't work often, but the one that called to the US worked well - as long as you remembered to plug it in to charge the night before ;). One more thing to note - 2 or 3 of our mornings we woke to find that the whole island lost power during the night - luckily my underwater camera batteries had charged completely before that or I would have been very disappointed! We would just go to Bimini Sands restaurant and eat breakfast because they always had power. The internet in the house was spotty towards the end of our stay and stopped working, but almost every place on the island has internet.

The people on the island are so nice, helpful, and welcoming! I would recommend anyone to stay in this private getaway - where we always felt safe and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. Make sure to rent a golfcart from D&S and drive on the LEFT side of the road ;)
