Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time at your place, we couldn't have asked for anything better. The beach was right out the back door and the kids had a great time. The deck was big enough to play toss games on and the house was big enough for everyone to have their own space, we can’t wait to go back. If I had to complain, it would be that we didn't have any towels at all. I had to go to the store and buy bath towels. Also, the water smells funny coming out of the pipes. Other that these little problems we had a fantastic time. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we will be back next year.

Location is great...BUT the house, not so much

  • 2 of 5

The home has great access to the beach and a good view. Unfortunately the home is not up to par: dark, dingy, dirty, dusty, we had a TON of critters visit us outside and inside the home. One morning we were greeted to a dead rat on the porch. I understand the home is near dunes, but so are other homes that have proper weather sealing around the doors and windows. The poor weather sealing probably also contributed to inadequate A/C cooling. It never cooled below 88F. The property description said 'ton of recent updates' were made, but not sure what they are talking about...perhaps the new toilet in one bathroom. I would recommend this home to those that like to 'rough it'. It's not my idea of a 'vacation' home.

Owner's Response: I, as the owner of this house, would like to respond to a few negative reviews. This is an older home and sometimes things need repaired. When things are reported wrong we try to fix them as soon as physically possible. When a recent visitor called and said the air conditioner was not working properly, we got a repairman out right away. I depend on the cleaning crew to do their job. The air conditioner was replaced along with a 2.5 ton extra wall unit to cool the house very fast. the interior lights were up graded. If the house is not clean I need to know. I depend on the cleaning crew to do their job. The cleaning crew has been replaced. The house is exterminated regularly. I have not seen any critters when I stay there. I am not sure I can control the critters on the outside. If you know a way please let us know. Sometimes bad reviews come from someone not receiving their deposit back because they broke something. That leads to them saying they will give a bad review if the deposit is not refunded. We want people to enjoy their stay as much as we did living there for 30 years.

Definitely did not meet expectations, nor did the accommodations justify the cost!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely the worst VRBO stay we've experienced. The air conditioning did not work; the average temp inside the unit was 80 each night. The manager sent out some technicians to check out the a/c unit and their opinion was that the a/c unit needed to be replaced. They did try to service the unit with some freon, but knew it wouldn't really make a difference. The overall accommodations were beyond "dated". The exterior gutters have fallen off in places, the windows are cracked / broken and held together with sealant, the overhead microwave is a falling apart, the interior light fixtures are covered in rust, there's severe gaps in multiple door frames, the refrigerator is sensitive to humidity changes and you could wake up with your drinks and food hot or frozen, there's a dilapidated building in front of the unit, there's a broken window a/c unit stuck in a wall for some unknown reason, there first floor of the unit is locked off and severely dilapidated, etc. etc. etc.

A Motel 6 would be a better stay, especially considering it only cost $12 to purchase a vehicle pass for driving / parking on the beach.

Clean amd ready!

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to stay. Comfortable and direct beach access. The back porch was ideal for breakfast and supper. The house was laid out perfect for a "quiet" wing and a "teens can stay up late laughing" wing. :-) We will be back!

Great Getaway Home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home in May. It's right on the beach with a private walkway. The Manager, Laura, was extremely helpful with everything we needed. We loved the privacy and the amazing view. It's wonderful waking up to the gulf view and being able to walk down to the beach directly from the house. We had plenty of room, and it was so nice to sit out on the balcony in the evening. We would definitely recommend this house especially for families!

Amazingly Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are from Colorado we do a fair amount of traveling throughout the western half of the United States. We used to find a campground and pitch a tent for a few days or overnight but we outgrew that venture. Then we bought an RV and spent our vacations towing it around but we outgrew that venture as well. We spent one year of our travels staying in hotels but find we our accustom to somewhat more private lodging.

This year we decided to see if the VRBO Home Away vacation could prove a more suitable idea. We made a plan to stay in a beach house on the North Padre Island . We love the Gulf area and more so the Padre Island. Online we found a beach house that would suit our fancy. We read the reviews but we are not easily swayed by them, as we have learned over the years.

We rented the beach house for a 3 night stay. A week or so prior to leaving I was notified by phone that the house is no longer using well water, it had been introduced to city water and some upgrades have taken place. Also, a new management team was put in place to oversee the business operations. Business dealings with renting the beach house where very professionally done.

We found the beach house to be very clean and tidy. It had clean linens and was well stocked for our cooking needs, but with a view of the gulf and the fact that it is right there maybe fifty yards from the house, the board walk from the back deck to the beach, the view from the large windows in the master bedroom, very awesome to say the least. Now keep in mind this is rustic home with a cheerful down home atmosphere. With the warm breeze and the sound of the waves the place gave us the feeling of having spent our lives there. It is roomy and a very sweet place to stay. The people are friendly and watchful. We felt safe, even at night.

About a week or so after we returned home from the trip I got a call from the owner. He asked how we felt about the house and if we where satisfied with our stay. I replied very much so. I am impressed to find the owner values his customers and calls them personally. I appreciate the fact that he provides his home for people to spend a nice relaxing time near the beach. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. We will book this house again and will plan to stay longer.

So if you decide to rent this beach house for your vacation please be kind and respectful because my wife and I would like to return to this beach house for our vacations for years to come
