Ginger Lilly is a light and spacious 3 bedroom Villa set on a hillside overlooking the lively harbour of Port Elizabeth.
An informal house styled with flair and imagination, the design of the house was inspired by the owners on their travels to South East Asia. Built by a well know Canadian architect who has built similar homes in St Lucia. The oriental feel is created by the use of wooden windows and doors instead of glass, Jalousie & Demerara windows, vaulted ceilings to ensure sea breezes throughout.
The layout of all the rooms look onto Admiralty Bay for maximum views of this beautiful natural harbour.
Comfortably equipped for up to 6 guests. Master bedroom with Super King Size bed, full en suite bathroom with tub, private balcony. Double bedroom with en suite and private balcony. Twin bedroom with en suite with pool terrace.
All the rooms look onto the natural rock swimming pool built from the local stone from the island.
Large open plan, Living room, Dining room and Kitchen, opening on a spacious wraparound decking, wonderful for entertaining. Original artwork capturing the Caribbean throughout the house. Enjoying the vibrance of Port Elizabeth with its many beautiful yachts is a popular port for sailing the Grenadines. The port has many restaurants, shops and a lively street atmosphere. The view from the house is not only stunning during the day but is also very lovely at night when the harbour is lit up, making it a very special location.
The villa is in a very popular position to enjoy "Old Years Night" (New Year's Eve) as the New Year is celebrated with a fantastic firework display in the harbour.
WiFi, Free pick up from Port or Local Airport. Maid service included 3 days a week.
I was born in Grenada but have lived in the UK since a young child. My background is in publishing but my husband and myself have renovated many properties in the UK. Currently we live in Lyme Regis, Dorset UK where we also have a holiday house.
Avril McLoughlin purchased this villa in 2004
If you're looking for a private villa that is not on an estate and captures the real Caribbean atmosphere then Ginger Lilly is for you. The house is secure and well looked after by our housekeeper and gardener. All amenities, shops and restaurants are in easy reach.
Having visited many Caribbean islands we chose Bequia to build our villa. It's a unique island for many reasons. It attracts international visitors being the gateway to sailing the beautiful Grenadines. The neighbouring island of Mustique with its high end tourist market has close links to Bequia and is easily accessible. The island maintains a strong traditional heritage and even though many residents from abroad have made Bequia their home the island has not lost any of its character.
This is the best place to enjoy a great view of admiralty bay and relax. We really enjoyed ocar as it's close to the main attractions and we prefer a little bit more actions than the quietness of Spring. Watching the different boats pass-by was entertaining.
The villa was well maintained.
We stayed here for 6 days. Wonderful, spacious 5 Star accomodations with equally 5 Star views. The pool was absolutely wonderful especially at night. Ginger Lilly was very well equipped with all the comforts of home. Mosquitoes were rampant however. My kids got bitten under big time and we almost had to leave early on this account. The Property Manager was very accomodating and provided some lamp zappers that helped a bit. We bought up the whole local pharmacy to curb the mosquito bites and also found the mosquito coils to help somewhat. I would recommend this place however be prepared for the mosquitos particularly in the off,hot season when we were here (ie August). Recommendation to the owner and manager to equip the home for mosquitos.
Bequia lies nine miles south of St Vincent. The island is oriented to the sea, retaining the age-old traditions of boat building, whaling and fishing. It is the largest of 32 Islands and cays that make up St Vincent & the Grenadines. This island neighbours Mustiqe and Cananoun and is a popular meeting place and anchoring spot for sailors as it's considered the gateway to the Grenadines.
Port Elizabeth is a lively habour with many shops, bars and restaurants. In high season you can enjoy a fun night life with live music most days of the week. Mustique blues festival in February, New Years Eve and Bequia Easter regatta are extremely popular events.
The sailing is considered the best in the world and trips to Tobago Cays marine park, St Vincent and the islands are in easy reach. Bequia is dotted with beautiful beaches, the house looks directly onto Princess Margret Beach and Lower Bay the two most popular beaches, but many more excellent for scuba and snorkelling are in easy reach.
