About Pure Clear Lake Cottage Rental

We bought this as our family cottage in 1996 and enjoyed summers with our boys out on the lake and enjoying all the area has to offer. Our business has taken us out of state but our hearts remain on Clear Lake. So we have held onto our 'favorite place in the world' and are offering it to others so that they too can enjoy the slowed pace of lakefront living. Property is managed locally by great, fun people who can answer all of your questions and make your stay a memorable one.

Pure Clear Lake Cottage Rental purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Pure Clear Lake Cottage Rental chose West Branch

The beautiful lake front and surrounding conservation land provides the privacy and seclusion we were looking for when we decided to buy a home on a lake. This cottage gave us the chance to spend private family time while being active and outdoors.

What makes this cottage unique

When we are at the lake, the patio becomes our main living area starting with a quiet cup of coffee before everyone rises, lunches between time spent on or in the lake and an evening game of horseshoes, dinner served on the patio and smores around the fire in the evening. Life at the lake sets it's own pace.

Just checked out today July 15, 2017- Great place for our 4th annual family vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Overall great place. Julie stopped by several times to see if we needed anything.

Pros-Huge porch, played corn hole on it. Pet friendly, many kitchen utensils, second fridge in garage, rented pontoon, tuff fishing but we caught smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, pike and rock bass, grill built in to house, plenty of parking.

Cons-1 bathroom first floor access thru master bedroom, no address on main road, off grid for cell coverage, ac not in window however did not need it, no firepit, we improvised when portable pit failed, firewood was not seasoned and did not burn well, garbage did not get sent to dump midweek and stunk last 4 days.

Beautiful, charming and perfect getaway vacation cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at this lovely cottage. We had a wonderful time! I had not been to Clear Lake in several years and I am so happy that we chose this lovely cottage to revisit the lake. The home is right on the lake, in the woods. It is perfect for swimming, boating and relaxing for families large and small. This cottage was super clean and had everything we needed - linens, towels, kitchen supplies (for cooking and eating), a pontoon boat for rent, and a wonderful view. Even board games, puzzles and cards for the occasional rainy day. This place has everything you need. Thanks so much to Julie for making us feel welcome and for answering all of our questions. We WILL be back! If you're looking for the perfect summer cottage - look no further!

2nd time was a definite charm

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year and fun was had by all 14 of us!!! Once again the place was clean, fully equipped with everything we needed, the total cottage expectation package. No egg shells to worry about braking here, which makes it simple, comfortable and enjoyable. Very pet friendly, I could tell our dogs really enjoyed them self too. Perfect place for young adults and teenagers with plenty to do. The Panton is always fun to go to the sand bar island during the day and sunset cruising by night. Julie as always on pointe!!! She found us a house for the over flow of family a few houses down and getting us extra water rentals to make our week more enjoyable. The satellite was not working and Julie was quick to come over with DVD's of current movies that we all enjoyed on the couple days of rain, that did not last ALL day, to our benefit!!! We were still able to have our 1st annual Family Field Day which was a total blast!! The cottage could use a couple updates, like a new frig, a fire pit that could be enjoyed ALL the way around not just the one side and a bathroom in the 2nd cottage, but who's house doesn't need updates. These things do not change our opinion that all and all a great place that we all can't wait to get back to the next year. Thanks Elliott Family, Julie and Jody for a great family vacation

Owner's Response: So happy to hear about your great experience at the Lake. Since we can't be there, we love families that appreciate what Clear Lake is all about. De-stress and tune in to each other and the surroundings. It's a beautiful thing. We appreciate our Lake and our neighbors and so glad you can appreciate the beauty there. The Elliotts

Nice House but disappointed

  • 3 of 5

This was the first vacation our 2 grown children, 3 grandkids and mother got to go on together. After driving 6 hours (with 3 kids 8 ,4,and 2) We arrived at our rental property. Our first impression was that we choose a great place! Nice house, great pontoon and pretty setting. Then we started to unload the cars and things fell apart. The house was extremely dirty. The bed linens were dirty and covered in hair. The guest cottage that comes with the property was unfit to be in. The smell of mildew and mold was so bad we couldn't breathe. Needless to say, the 4 people who were to stay in there ended up in the main house. We proceeded to spend the first hour of our long awaited vacation cleaning the rental and washing linens. We tried to contact the manager and she wasn't home. When my husband confronted her about everything the next day she told him "well, I cleaned it" After we returned home I contacted the owner, who lives out of state, and filled her in on all the issues we had and she did refund our cleaning fee. The property description also states seating for 11 in the main house. We had seating for 7, and that includes 3 ppl sitting at the bar. When we addressed this issue we were told there was a leaf for the table but unfortunately there weren't any instructions in the house for guests to use ( how to use remotes , use of TV, garbage issues, where to find items, ect) Neither bedroom ceiling fans worked and neither did thelights in them. We were told there were remotes for those. We did locate the remotes while we were and they did not work to operate the ceiling fans either. In fact, the wiring for the upstairs bedroom ceiling fan was exposed which is probably why it did not work. The small upstairs bdrm air conditioner ran 24/7 and yet it didn't cool very well. Refrigerator never got very cold. We kept our soda on ice in coolers. Satellite TV never worked. The property manager told us that they would be coming to work on it on Tuesday. No one showed up until Friday, and then it never did work while we were there.

Cons: Dirty, no working satellite tv, poor swimming in front of house, Couldn't use guest cottage, poor fishing, poor communication with manager

Pros: Well appointed kitchen, clean lake with sandbars for swimming , Nice patio, Nice pontoon, secluded , laundry room

This place could be fabulous with some TLC. Unfortunately, in our opinion, it's not being taken care of by the property manager.

Owner's Response: Hello, When I received your email I immediately responded with an apology and sent the cleaning fee that day for your inconvenience. As you can see by the other reviews on our property that it is mentioned how clean and lovely our place was for them. This was an isolated incident unfortunately for you and but it was addressed immediately with our management and new cleaning arrangements have been made. In the past years we have received nothing but praise for Julie and her team and we are sad you did not experience that, but happy your time on the lake was great. The dining table does have a leaf and when pulled out, it can seat 8-10! the patio has a great table that seats 6. The fans and lights were in working order but certainly will be checked as well as the setting on the refrigerator. If anyone is concerned please contact us. We are proud of our lake house and love going there.

Great Place to Unwind

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from our week at the cottage and really enjoyed the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere the cottage and location offers. The cottage is well equipped with all the necessities so all you have to bring is your food, drink and clothing. It is located in a quiet cove and has a great patio for relaxing and looking out over the lake. Many of the neighbors we met were friendly and offered to help if we needed anything. The lake is smaller and very peaceful during the week. Many times during the week we were one of only a few boats on the lake. Fishing was also very good and we caught several small mouth and large mouth bass, walleye, and a few pike (although the cove is shallow and does not hold many). Due to the location being so secluded, expect to stay unplugged for the week which is an ideal excuse for not responding to emails, work needs, etc. There is a raft available for the kids to swim to and play on which they used quite often. We would recommend staying here for anyone looking for a great place to unwind and enjoy everything the lake has to offer.

I found this place and booked it in March of 2015. I was excited and anxious to hopefully relax and leave the city life and work behind. Once there I was over the top surprised of the house and location. It was perfect for our family who works sooo hard all year for this 1 week we all spend together every year. The place is clean, it is equipped with EVERYTHING you need, very quite, you just need your bathing suit, a cooler and just relax. Julie thanks for everything you were wonderful to accommodate us with everything we needed. Can't wait to visit again.
