Why Kurt or Tammy Hubschneider chose Northern Michigan

We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. It is absolutely beautiful. Originally built in the 1930's, it has a charm all it's own. With the 350 ft. of Duck Lake frontage and the 500 ft. of peaceful Mason Creek bordering the edge of the property, it is truly unique.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage resort reminds you of times gone by, yet has all of today's comforts. 350 ft. of private frontage, water trampoline, raft, 2 docks, boats, swimming pool, basketball court, horseshoes, playground and recreation room. Just a great place to get away from it all.

Great Place For A Family!

“We had a great week at Brookside! Kurt and Tammy (owners) are great people! They made sure we had everything we needed/wanted to have a great time. We had a pool and hot tub in the front of our cottage and a lake and playground in the back of our cottage. I would recommend this place to everyone!”

Great family getaway on a peaceful lake

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four spent a week at Brookside Cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottage was clean and cozy - nothing fancy, but comfortable and well maintained. The lake is really nice; it's big, but there wasn't a lot of boat traffic, so it was calm. We took advantage of the kayaks (included) and rented a boat for a few days to do some fishing. Tons of fun catching perch and bass.

Kurt and Tammy (the owners) are super nice and were quick to address any questions or issues. Kurt has great ideas of things to do around the area too. The rec room has a pool table, ping pong table and TV if you need a break from the great outdoors. The pool and hot tub are OK - they are likely tough to keep clean with all the sand on the property, so we mostly steered clear from those.

We would definitely go back because of the beauty of the property (sunsets over Duck Lake are amazing) and the attentiveness of Kurt and Tammy. The kids and us had a great time!

Cozy, Clean and Well Equipped!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for one week and were both really impressed with our experience and the attentiveness of Kurt and Tammy during our stay. They made sure we were taken care of by answering questions before our arrival, and being available by phone or in person when we had questions about amenities or local attractions. The cottage was very cozy and well kept. We were impressed with how it came stocked with many essentials for glassware/dishes, baking, and utensils. We were planning on cooking most of our meals so this was a bonus to know we had everything we needed in the cottage.

We also enjoyed the benefit of having free amenities on site. The location was close enough to the attractions of Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes, but also felt far enough removed where we could enjoy relaxation and quiet by the lake.

We definitely will be returning in the future, and highly recommend this place!

We enjoyed our stay at Brookside and would return without hesitation. We rented an efficiency cottage as we figured we'd be out and about during the day. The cabin was very clean (important factor for me to consider a return visit) and Kurt checked on us whenever he was on the property to make sure we were happy.

Very close to Traverse City.

Family of 4

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at Brookside. The owners were very personable and helpful and the property was very nice. Our children enjoyed the kayaks, water trampoline, pool, hot tub and game room. There were many activities that helped to keep everyone happy. The beach area was not very large, but other than that the property was lovely. The cabins were clean, comfortable and very well stocked. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great, Close to Interlochen

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with your hospitality at Brookside. We did not know what to expect beyond what we had seen on your website. Since we had both been campers at Interlochen 50 long years ago, we knew something of the beauty of the area, but had no idea just how nice it would be to have a place away from the music camp itself. and only ten minutes down the road to a grocery and the camp, excellent situation.

The sunrise, the sunset, beautiful. That was not up to you, but the convenience of the washer and dryer made those logistics easy. And the cabin itself provided all the comforts of home, enough space in the fridge for our modest eating needs. The window AC was just enough to calm down the heat.

The other adult campers who stayed on the campus had quite a different experience, the generic hotel. Your cabin provided character in abundance and made our stay memorable.

Many thanks.

We stayed at Brookside for the 2nd time early in August 2014. Kurt and Tammy as new owners have done an excellent job of making the property more eye-appealing and therefore more relaxing and comfortable. They are also wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We had expected to have a fire pit like we had during our first stay in 2012 and were sad to see there wasn't one for our cottage. We called Kurt to ask if there was a "common" fire pit we could use so our grandson wouldn't be disappointed. Kurt explained that they had just gone for dinner but would come right back and bring us one of the portable fire pits they have.

Tammy and Kurt couldn't have been any more accommodating. Each time they were at the resort, they stopped for a quick visit. Kurt came to see us before departure to be sure things were up to our expectations and I assured him that everything was just wonderful.

The cottages are inviting and comfortable - just enough room for what we needed since we spent 90% of our time outdoors. Kurt and Tammy have provided the basics that are needed in the cottages. There was nothing extra that we wished we'd had.

The beach area, while not big, is adequate for lounging as well as wading into the water and going for a quick dip. The new water trampoline was a hit with all the guests for the full week we were there. Not a day went by that it wasn't used.

Overall, the resort has really shaped up and the owners are great. We would definitely consider going back.
