Wonderful and spacious home for large extended family
To wake up to the beautiful lake view made our vacation. We enjoyed the lake from the private beach, from the multiple decks, the hot tub, and of course in the lake itself. We loved it! We want to return next year.
Thank you for your appreciative words. We go out of our way to provide a wonderful setting but the lake provides the magic. Come back again any time. Cheers..Alan
Great Home on the Water
This home has a spacious feel because of the layout. We had a party of seven adults and we were comfortable. Between the Dock and large garage for all our gear, is a spacious 2 master bedroom home with 3 nice size baths and two smaller beds up the stairs. We had several people around the Island in the modern kitchen for meals and cocktail hour and then out to the fabulous deck with a wonderful view of the dock and lake. The place was clean and modern and with nice outdoor plantings and amenities. Kayaks and paddle boards at your recreational finger tips on the small beach, but set up nice with fire pit picnic benches and long dock out into the lake. Getting to the house is a little steep and the many steps to the beach and dock area can be tiresome if you have to bring a lot of gear down there, however that is a very small thing over all. Not the place for the physically challenged but it was great for us 50 somethings.. Overall can't miss place and we would highly recommend a stay at Alan's terrific Lake house.
Its my pleasure to have such wonderful guests. They used the house and all its amenities to get away from city life and left it pristine. Couldn't ask for a better group to rent for a major stay like the July 4th weekend. Come again any time. Cheers, Alan
Fabulous lakefront property that was clean, comfortable and fun. Highly recommend for a family vacation. Owner is pleasant and helpful. Book now for Cornell graduation 2018.
My family of 6 spent 5 days/4 nights at this lake house between Christmas and New Years. It was a perfect winter getaway! The house suited our needs with 4 nice sized bedrooms and comfortable beds. The family room and dining area were great for lounging and playing board games. The highlight was hanging out in the hot tub on the deck with the view of Cayuga Lake and the brilliant stars at night( very little ambient light around). The location was excellent for trips into Ithaca and Cornell, skiing at Greek Peak, and hiking at Taughannock Falls. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and embracing winter! Hope to return in a different season.
Always glad to have winter guests, especially those as gracious as Eve and Brian's family. The house is maintained year round and makes a great holiday getaway for New Years, wine tours, and apres ski. Come again soon. Alan
the good news first
The good news is that the house is in a great location - right on the water, lovely views, both a generous deck and a narrow beach for outdoor enjoyment. The train only passed in the daytime and was rather fun. In early June there are lots of birds in the thickets behind the house so birdwatchers can enjoy that. Ithaca was not far. The two bedrooms downstairs were very spacious and the two upstairs bedrooms were fine - views of the lake from all the bedrooms. Kitchen well-stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, utensils. The bad news...there was practically no water pressure. The house, particularly the bathrooms, should have been much cleaner than it was and we had to clean as soon as we arrived. The entire deck was full of debris and had to be thoroughly swept. We knew the security deposit check would not come immediately but it took six weeks...why that was necessary is unclear. Have stayed in other houses that were in the same price range yet offered much better attention to detail.
Pleased to hear you enjoyed the house. We love the surrounds but the trees in spring bring special joy but also the issue of pollen debris on the deck. We sweep and leaf blow daily, but by evening, its all back. Hard to battle nature and of course we would sooner have the shady vista than direct sun on the bedrooms. We also love to conserve water, so pressure limiters on faucets helps us preserve our ecosystem. We hope you come back to enjoy our efforts to provide a comfortable environment.
Fabulous Lovely Ladies 2016 trip!
Our group of eight women spent 5 days in this fabulous lake house! Alan was a great host, always responsive and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. It was great having some spices readily available as well. The weather was perfect, hot days and cool nights. The ceiling fans throughout the house were all that was needed. Not that we watched much TV, but the living room has an awesome TV and surround sound system. It was great for watching game 7 of the NBA finals and the seasons last episode of Game of Thrones!! Outside there was so much to do and we took advantage of it all! Morning coffee and nightly dinners on the deck.
Daily kayaking, sunbathing on the dock, reading and relaxing by the water. Using the fire pit on the beach was one of the best nights we had. It's a 20 minute drive to Ithaca so easy access for shopping. We also visited the Ithaca Winery which was really fun and located in a beautiful setting. Another day we spent hiking. Just relaxing at the lake house was by far the best time for all of us. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend for others! Thanks Alan for sharing your lakehouse!!
Always glad to hear our guests enjoyed their stay. The house has a special vista that just keeps on giving, from dawn kayak trips to evening cocktails over spectacular sunsets. Come again soon!
