About Natalie D.
I live in the U.S., but am fascinated with South America. Cuenca, Ecuador is a favorite destination.
Natalie D. purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Natalie D. chose Cuenca
This building was featured in the New York Times as an example of colonial buildings in Cuenca being renovated while retaining the original facade. After staying in the building on my first trip to Cuenca, I was lucky enough to find out that this apartment was for sale, and bought it. This building is special for its lovely ambiance and the comfort level: the high quality Internet connection, plentiful solar hot water, good water pressure, and modern appliances.
What makes this Apartment unique
Great central location, while being just far enough from the main square to be a bit more quiet. The building is secure and has friendly occupants.

Nice and convenient apartment
We enjoyed our stay at San Blas Feb/March 2019. We stayed there for a month. Although the apartment is small it is very well laid out. Everything we needed was there. We loved the new appliances in the kitchen! TV was great and we found a number of movie channels in English language, also programs such as NatGeo. Wifi was very good and never let us down during our stay. The building is very nice and secure with two double doors which are locked during the night. There is a pretty courtyard and also a roof top area from where you can view part of the city and area. The close location to the historic district center is very convenient and a great plus. The Apartment owner Natalie and the apartment manager Alejandra were very helpful and responsive to our needs and enquiries and it was good to know that there were some people we could ask for advice if the need should arise. All in all we had a great time in Cuenca and at Natalie's apartment.
Nice size and well set up apartment.
We enjoyed our stay at Natalie‘s apartment it was in a pretty good location but a little far from the path along the river which is what we enjoy the most. The apartment is quite large and well set up with everything you need to stay for a month which is what we did. The street is quite noisy in the morning and during the day which can’t be helped. At night it is quiet. The barstools were adequate for dinning but not to sit on for any length of time. The queen bed was OK but a little hard. We loved the to rooftop patios, there was a beautiful view and nice breeze up there. We used that location frequently. Natalie‘s apartment is well located as it is close to many restaurants and cafés. Natalie and Alijandra were attentive host and manager respectively and helped us with anything required. I would Recommend it.
excellent Cuenca apartment
We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment and Natalie was very responsive and provided great helpful information on items relating to our stay. We bought fresh food from the cool local markets and cooked a few meals so we were happy to have basic spices, sugar, oil, etc. in the pantry. Previous guests left a few staples that we could use and we left some for the next guests which is a great system.
The apartment location is perfect - within walking distance of many beautiful sites and a short taxi ride away from the airport and bus station. We were very comfortable staying there. Cuenca is our favorite city in Ecuador so far of the five we have visited in the last 2 years. We will definitely be back!
This was our 3rd visit to Natalie’s apartment and once again it did not disappoint - see my comments from our previous visits. Natalie, Alejandra, and Mercedes are a pleasure to deal with.
Met all my expectations
I stayed here 60 days in July-August 2018 and had a wonderful experience. I'm an apartment developer and have many rental properties myself, so I recognize the difference between average and good service on the part of a landlord. The team on this property provided excellent service and were very helpful. The location is premium and offers a pleasant walk to parks, restaurants and cultural amenities. The unit's interior is newer with high end appliances, fixtures and appointments. The condo's common areas include a rooftop conversation area and terrace overlooking the city. I highly recommend this property. You may find cheaper but you won't find better.
Excellent apartment, comfortable, well equipped, great location.
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 1 month. The apartment was well set up and well stocked for all of our needs -- we really weren't lacking for anything to make us feel at home. I especially appreciated how the kitchen had everything I needed and wanted to cook many of our meals! And it was wonderful to have a dishwasher and laundry right in our unit. The location is excellent, on Simon Bolivar, one block from the plaza San Sebastian and about 5 blocks from the Parque Calderon. We loved the pretty inner courtyard and the 2 roof decks, one covered and one open to the sun. There is a bit of street noise that comes in through the windows on the street side of the apartment, but it is also nice to have the light that comes in through the windows on that side too, so, it is a trade off. The owner and the manager were easily reachable and very responsive by email or phone throughout our visit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there very much and would gladly stay there again.
Winner of Outside Magazine's 2014 Travel Awards for 'Best Adventure Hub,' Cuenca has something for everyone, whether heading to the Cajas National Park or staying in the colonial center of town. Cuenca has numerous museums, restaurants, markets, and architectural delights. Bus tours depart from the main square, and the biggest challenge is deciding what to.
