It boasts a huge deck, dockage, lighted fish cleaning station w/sink and hoses at the dock. On the deck, off the lanai, there is a 4-person hot tub. The Scallop season was permanently extended by two weeks so the season now runs the last Saturday in June (unless July 4 is a Saturday) and ends September 24. A Salt water fishing license is required if you enter the scallop grounds by boat. Read the Rules!! In the Scallop grounds, the water depth will range from 3-6', your choice based on your physical ability. You literally can stand and catch scallops. There is a fresh water hose, sink and cleaning station at the dock for you to rinse your boat, gear and catch, have fun! We know you will see why we love our Crystal River. I frequently travelled to Crystal River from Gainesville in the 70's, and when I married in 2002, my husband and I decided to spend our honey moon at Plantation Inn, and he fell in love with the area, especially Crystal River's natural beauty. My husband is retired from the military and says 'there is no place, like this Place'. It has huge deck & lots of dock space, as well as a spacious lanai. We've spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors and the quiet. We especially love to sit on the lanai in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the Manatees feeding and generally being Manatees. It's just a short paddle in our kayaks to 3 Sisters springs, the Manatee's living room, especially during cold winter days.
Judy or Jack purchased this house in 2012
We love retreating away from the busy lifestyle here to relax and fish the Gulf where the fish are plentiful! As avid divers and water people in general, we have been diving and spearfishing the Gulf since 2005 and can tell you first hand that some of the best fishing is in the Gulf. Whether its spearfishing, hook & line or scalloping, access to the Gulf of Mexico is right at your doorstep and only minutes away. We come here to recharge the batteries, so to speak, and generally decompress from the rigors of life. Only minutes after you arrive, you'll understand what I mean.
Bait & tackle
Boat launch (Pete's Pier)
Guided fishing (in shore/off shore)
And anything Else....
We loved our stay in Crystal River, and Judy and Jack's home was the perfect location for everything! We brought our boat and kept it tied up at the dock which was wonderful. We stayed on the water from scalloping and fishing to evening kayak trips to swim and watch the gorgeous sunsets from the bay. We stayed so busy our teenagers barely turned on the television! We definitely plan to make a return trip!
We have stayed at a few locations and homes in Crystal River and this was the best by far. It was in the perfect location right around the corner to three sisters springs. The home was beautiful and very clean and stocked with all the necessities and many extras, Judy was very quick with responding to emails and very helpful with all my questions. We had a wonderful vacation with our children. Would recommend to anyone who would like to visit Crystal River, Thank you both for sharing your home! :)
We are two retired couples and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jack and Judy's house. The booking process was very smooth and excellent communication. The house was even better than described. Very roomy and open. Very clean and welcoming. We appreciated the split floor plan and the men enjoyed cooking in the modern kitchen. The screened in porch was a very pleasant space to read in the morning and to watch the canal traffic. We were lucky to see one manatee in the canal while we were there. The kayaks were lots of fun to paddle down to the springs and out to Kings Bay. The manatee count was down due to the warm weather, but we had great time in the sunshine. The location is very good for walking. We went down to the Three Sisters Spring and walked in to the boardwalks around the spring. The house was very close to all the amenities in Crystal River. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. Kayaked several times everyday to Three Sisters spring and farther down river to see the manatee. The kitchen was well stocked and the owners were easy to contact and quick to respond to questions. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, but it could have been set a degree or two warmer.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The home was really clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. We enjoyed having a big kitchen with room for the whole family to cook in. (Go to Charlie's fish market on 19 just north of the Chevron station for great Gulf seafood if you're not into catching your own!) We were really excited about having access to kayaks, but unfortunately it was too cold for us to get that adventurous. It was a great location for us. We loved being close to the birding trails and the road that leads out to the gulf for viewing stellar sunsets, as well as being just around the corner from the new boardwalk for viewing manatees. The owners were really easy to communicate with and answered questions right away.
Our stay in Crystal River was great! The house was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. The second morning we were greeted by a manatee in the canal. We loved being able to put the kayaks in the canal right out the back door and be at Three Sisters in a matter of minutes. Late one afternoon we were the only people at the springs and it was so peaceful just to sit and watch the manatees. The owners were wonderful to work with. If I make it back to Crystal River, I would love to stay here again.
This area of 'Old Florida' has many activities, both indoor and outdoor. They call this area of Florida 'The Nature Coast' for a reason. If you are an outdoors person, this is the place for you. With miles of hiking/biking trails, over 100,000 acres of Wildlife Management Area, hundreds of square miles of the Gulf of Mexico waters, just a ten minute boat ride away, there is no shortage of outdoor activities. You'll need to bring your toys: boats, bicycles, kayaks, motorcycles scuba gear & fishing equipment. When you stay in our home, you will watch Manatees right at the dock, or hop in the kayaks and paddle to 3 Sisters water that is gin clear and 72 degrees year around. We refer to it as being reborn by simply taking a swim in it. The springs pump out millions of gallons of pure spring water a day. The word refreshing only begins to explain these waters on a hot summer day. The entire Kings Bay is accessible by kayak and diving Kings spring. Our waters are some of the best fishing whether its off shore in the Gulf of Mexico or staying inside our mangrove estuaries and the Salt river. There are any number of local restaurants of all types of cuisines, numerous small local pubs, watering holes and our own local Copp's Winery. Its only a mile and change from our house, with their own brews and wines produced from their own vineyard. Motorcyclists will love the 'Old Florida' charm of the local communities, all within an hour ride in any direction: Homosassa 15 min, Leesburg 1 hour, Cedar Key 1 hour, Tarpon Springs 45 min, Hudson 45 min, Ocala 1 hour, and many more to be discovered on a day's ride. We have been riding through the area for 8 years and still have not seen it all. There are scenic drives that start at HWY 19: Ozello, Homosassa, Chassahowitzka, Yankee town, Cedar Key and more.
