|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Our home is situated on beautiful, medium bank rock oceanfront looking out at breathtaking views of Halmoon Bay, Merry and south Thormamby Islands. Enjoy the many sea birds, bald eagles, seals and cruise ships passing behind the islands. The ocean is located just 37 steps down from the main house.
Enjoy swimming off the walk in dock, retreating to the spacious waterside deck, the hot tub and the 2 wonderfully landscaped decks off the main house. Watch for falling stars while sitting comfortably in front of the propane fire pit on the front deck.
There are 2 spacious bedrooms in the main house plus a guest cottage with its own private bathroom attached to the main deck just steps away. Make your own coffee in the guest house in the morning and enter the main house at your leisure! The 3 bedrooms are beautifully appointed making this a perfect getaway for 3 couples. We also have an adorable bunk house right by the ocean which will sleep 2 more people. This bunk house is perfect for teenagers or school aged children. The "Hobbit House" (under the deck) suits a single teenager or adult.
The kitchen provides a spacious dining table and all the modern amenities you will need.
Enjoy the comfortable seating in the living room while gazing at the view, cuddling by the fire or watching satellite TV.
We are located only a 15 minute drive from Sechelt where you will find many restaurant choices, a movie theater, shopping, a recreation center and golf.
The house is a block away from a network of well maintained, dog friendly hiking trails. Or Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park is just a 5 minute drive away which offers good family hiking and beautiful views.
Halfmoon Bay Historic General Store is located a 5 minute drive away and will provide you with any missing necessities or a bottle of wine for dinner.
If you enjoy boating, Bucaneer Marina is minutes away. Here, you could take a water taxi to beautiful Thormamby Island or rent a boat to go fishing for the day. Or, have kayaks delivered to your own waterfront and enjoy exploring the coves in Halfmoon Bay.

We live in Vancouver and have owned this vacation property since our children were young. Our children are now grown but have wonderful memories of having this as a home away from home.
Jane F purchased this house in 1998
We were looking for rocky waterfront that had easy access for swimming and boating. We loved the abundant Arbutus trees found in this stretch of coast and the easy proximity to hiking. The drive from the ferry terminal was beautiful and relaxing so did not make for a stressful commute. We felt that this property would be perfect for our children who were 5 and 8 at the time but also offer my husband and I a lovely retreat in our retirement.
The home is a 1200 square foot Lindal cedar home which we have lovingly and tastefully updated over the years. The walls have been lightly whitewashed but still reveal the warm wooden grain. The kitchen was updated a few years ago with modern appliances and granite countertops. The bathrooms were totally renovated in 2013 and a mud/laundry room was added to provide extra pantry and storage. We have maintained the charm of the original cottage but have turned it in to our 'dream cottage'. The addition of the guest cottage allowed us a separation from our guests although they are just a few steps from the kitchen sliding doors.
This ocean front home was perfect for 3 couples and our 3 furry 4-legged children. The views were breathtaking, the accommodations were very comfortable and the location of the property itself (steps from the ocean) was spectacular. We wanted to cook our own meals and the kitchen did not disappoint. It was well stocked and had everything we needed for our family style dinners. There was also a BBQ on the deck.
The gas fire-pit on the deck became our "go to" evening hang-out and the Adirondack chairs located a few feet from the ocean were perfectly situated for morning coffee! The doggie gate on the large deck was a nice added touch as were the doggie treats waiting for the pooches upon our arrival (not to mention the lovely bottle of wine for the non-furry (at least not as furry) 2-legged guests.
Jane (our contact and owner) could not have been more helpful. She answered our questions (and there were a few! lol) promptly and was extremely pleasant to deal with. Everything from the original booking to the directions to the house to the instructions once we arrived was made easy. We even received notice of a potential ferry delay from Jane as a FYI!
All in all, it was a great weekend and we hope to return to this lovely property soon. (Perhaps make it a yearly get-away?) Thanks again Jane for sharing your wonderful property with us!
Thank you Jane, the home was just perfect for my guests and myself. The view is breathtaking., and the sound of the ocean waves hitting the shore- just perfect. Very clean property, and so very comfortable. So relaxing in every way. The home had every thing we needed in the way of cooking supplies. A few even went swimming in the ocean. I highly recommend this property and Jane was so easy to reach for any questions. Thanks again, we loved it. Our weather turned out good too., so extra bonus.
I was looking for a place to chill out and catch up with extended family after a year out of the country -- and this place was ideal. Everyone in our party was bowled over by this beautiful vacation home. It could easily feature in the pages of a decorator's magazine... so many lovely "beach house" touches. The facilities are excellent -- great showers, top quality bedding, comfy couch, excellent BBQ, a dishwasher, a hot and read-to-go hot-tub with view and, most importantly, plenty of sleeping space for our large group.
The kids got a kick of being on their own in the bunk house by the sea. My elderly parents enjoyed the privacy of their own little room off the back deck, complete with its own en suite bathroom. And we enjoyed the bedroom with a fabulous view from the top floor of the house. We ate every meal on the large deck that overlooks Half Moon Bay, and cooked up our dinner every night on the excellent BBQ.
A couple things to know:
1. This place is geared up to escape the work-a-day world. There is no wi-fi/internet access and the tv sets are very small. (That was fine by us but was a little bit of a pain when we needed to send an email or wanted to look up maps etc.)
2. The house is on a hill, and there are a lot of stairs between the house and the ocean. Again, not a problem for us but not ideal of elderly and definitely no good for toddlers (as Jane has mentioned in her description.)
3. You have to take advantage of "tide in" times to swim off the property....When the tide is out in the middle of the day, there is no safe or easy way into the water. That's when our kids climbed around on the rocks to check out the tide pools and look for star fish.
4. There are great walks nearby and we would particularly recommend the little walk at nearby Smuggler's Bay.
Thanks to Jane for opening her home up to strangers. We are taking a lot of great memories home with us, and I would recommend this place very highly.
5 stars doesn't even do it justice, this is truly the most beautiful cottage we've ever stayed at. Everything is so well taken care of! Jane and her husband go above and beyond to make sure you have a lovely stay! Everything you could possibly need is provided!
The property is amazing, nearby lots of trails and a lovely cafe for some breakfast or lunch. We spend our nights relaxing on the deck overlooking the ocean and in the hot tub (the new fire pit was so cozy!!).
It is very centrally located to visit the sunshine coast. Would recommend it to everyone!
We will be back for sure.
My family and I stayed at this rental and it exceeded our expectations! We chose this place because it fit what we were looking for: on the ocean, could sleep 6 (or more), private, dog friendly, and of course, beautiful! But when we got there, we were blown away. The main house is below the road and nestled in well-kept nature, so it feels serene from the start. The house is very well-kept, clean, and charming, decorated like the beach to really make you feel like you are on vacation. The rooms upstairs are spacious, and one of the rooms has a balcony off the front with an ocean view! The deck off the main floor is really nice too - spacious with plenty of patio furniture, and a heater for the nights. It also connects to the second "house" - a smaller bungalow style house with a bedroom and a bathroom that is great if two people want their own space, but want to be just steps away from the main house. There was even a bunkhouse down by the water that could sleep 2 more people!
One of the best things about the place that we loved though were all the outdoor amenities. The hot tub was fantastic! But one of our favourite places was the second, waterfront patio. It is right up against the ocean, and has a table with an umbrella and a few chairs where you can sit and read right beside the ocean. There is also a boat ramp which is great if you are like us and brought a canoe!
Our weekend was wonderful - very relaxing, with everything we could want at our fingertips. Our host left us some great tips on where to go hiking (with detailed directions!), which was a nice personal touch.
We will definitely be going back!
I was very surprised by this rental as it was able to fit my 4 requirements: King bed, on the ocean, hot tub and dog friendly. We could tell from the pictures this rental would be amazing, but the pictures do not do it justice. The cottage and property were amazing. The cottage had everything we could possibly need. The bed was comfortable and I loved waking up to the sun pouring through the room. The bathroom rain shower-head was amazing and the heated bathroom floor was so nice! Every morning my husband and I, along with our dogs would drink our coffee on the low deck steps away from the ocean. It was so relaxing and quiet, we didn't want to come home. We will definitely come back to this cottage, which is rare for us as we usually always like to stay some place different.
Our vacation home is beautifully situated in the center of the Sunshine Coast. Nature and activities abound. Of special interest to our guests are the many art galleries and artisan workshops that are open to the public.
