Michigan Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Welcome to the Aubert Den. This cozy log cabin is located in the Ward Hills region of the Manistee National Forest. We invite you to come and enjoy all Lake County has to offer. Out the back door, you will find hiking trails leading you into the surrounding wooded hills. This immediate area is excellent for hiking, snow shoeing and seasonal hunting. Naturalists will enjoy our resident wildlife such as grouse, deer, owl and wood peckers. There are quite a few groomed cross-country ski trails are nearby. After dark, from time to time, the baying of the coyotes can be heard in the distance. For some fun and excitement, mountain bikers will find the North Country Trail just 3 miles from the cabin. Also, the Little 'O' ORV/ATV Trail can be reached by following our 2 track to the property line. Snowmobilers can find Trail 35 one mile east of the cabin. Fishermen may travel 4 miles from the cabin to the Pere Marquette River Access at Rainbow Rapids.

Inside the cabin, twin bedrooms are outfit with Amish made log bunk beds. Each bunk bed has a full size mattress on the bottom and a twin size mattress on the top, sleeping 3 persons per room. In the living room, a full sized futon comfortable sleeps an additional 2 persons, accommodating 8 persons maximum. All bedding and towels are provided.

The kitchen is equipped with a standard size refrigerator/freezer, four burner electric stove top, a medium sized toaster oven, microwave, crockpot, coffee pot, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, glassware and table linens. The dining table seats 6 comfortably with using the additional leaves provided. Behind the cabin, a charcoal grill is provided. Alternatively, an outdoor glass patio table seats 4, or you may enjoy taking advantage of vintage TV trays (set of 4) and skip the formalities.

To ensure a meaningful getaway up north, no cable is provided. However, you are welcome to enjoy our extensive dvd collection that shall suit most interest types. We encourage our guests to spend time by the fire, as behind the cabin there is a fire ring for roasting goodies and telling stories.

We look forward to hosting your Northern Michigan adventure in the near future!!

Cozy little cabin that sleeps five comfortably

  • 5 of 5

The Aubert Den is truly a cozy tiny cabin that have all the essential necessities and sleep comfortably with four adults and two kids. No internet for city slickers, but the complimentary movies, audio system, and board games are in the cabin for enjoyment. We enjoy the warmth of the fire pit and star glazed at night. There is a front lawn and back patio section with a hammock. Trails, beaches, and river sport are all within 30 minutes drive away. All the areas is surrounded by trees. I can imagine it be comfortable and heart warming to stay during the winter. The owners of the cabin lives about 100 feet from the cabin, this asking for assistance is easy and convenient.

Great cabin for our biking/beaching/fishing weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great stay at the Aubert Den cabin! The cabin is comfortable, spacious, and rustic like my family's cabin up north was when I was a child. This was the perfect spot from which to start a bike ride (North Country Trail is close). It was also the perfect spot to stay for our two-day fishing trip on the Pere Marquette River. Ashley and Lawrence were kind, helpful, and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Nice little cabin

  • 4 of 5

We stayed two nights on our way to another destination and had a good time. It is a smaller cabin next to the owners main house (but secluded enough you don't really notice). The accommodations are simple but nice and clean. We had a good time hiking and biking the short trails accessible from the cabin and sitting by the fire pit at night. There isn't much in the way of restaurants real near by so i would recommend buying groceries on the way in, which should be expected if you are looking for this type of property. We enjoyed a day of hiking around the Manistee River area not too far from the cabin.

Perfect setting for a vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Aubert Den was exactly what my husband and I were wanting. We brought our 8 month old daughter with us, and this cabin made for such a cozy setting for our family. The cabin is literally in the forest--you can step out the back or front door and hike. In our opinion, the cabin was the perfect size. If you have a younger child, we had our daughter in a pack n play, and it fit perfectly between the bed and wall.

As for the owners, you couldn't ask for nicer people. Lawrence and Ashley were extremely accommodating! They provided us with great information about the surrounding area and even took us on a hike in the forest!

We hope to make it back to the Manistee National Forest, and we know where we'll be staying!
