A Unique Luxury Bahamas Villa
KettleStone is a spectacular ocean-front Villa on the beautifully serene "family island" of Andros in The Bahamas. Nestled in the coastal canopy only minutes from amenities, it is the epitome of a secluded holiday home.
KettleStone is comprised of a central living area, CedarTop, which contains the open concept living and dining areas, central kitchen, and a radial stone staircase leads to a loft bedroom suite with bath, named Morgan's Loft after the infamous Captain Morgan, whose stories are an intrinsic part of this island's lore. CedarTop is complimented by two additional bedroom suites, CayView and Sunrise, each offering an amazing panoramic view of the ocean and large ensuite baths complete with double door shower.
KettleStone is equipped with all modern amenities, and has a fresh water swimming pool, waterfall and jetted spa in addition to steps going straight into the ocean lagoon or onto the newly constructed dock. Enjoy the warm soothing firelight from our outdoor fire-on-glass fireplace or mix your favorite beverage at the outdoor kitchen and bar.
Grill-masters can enjoy the palapa covered grill station complete with its own lighting system.
There are plenty of activities on the island, and on the property to satisfy everyone in a family or friends group. In addition to relaxing and soaking the sun, there is scuba diving, fishing (bone-fishing, reef fishing, and deep sea fishing), birding, blue hole explorations, snorkeling, swimming, and shopping. Comprised of one acre of mature landscaped grounds, KettleStone is the ideal place to unwind.
Begin your day with breath-taking sunrises from the terraces, or the private dock palapa!
KettleStone was conceived, built and is owned by Michael Hornby ... formally of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada. Michael first discovered Andros Island in 1988 on a diving vacation and in 1997, in pursuit of his passion for scuba diving and a simpler lifestyle took the plunge literally and moved to the Bahamas.
Michael currently lives on Andros Island and manages a local all-inclusive resort as well as owning and managing KettleStone.
No stranger to the hospitality industry, in addition to being a Technical and Recreational Diving Instructor, Michael enjoys Blue Hole cave diving, deep wall diving and is a private pilot and boat captain.
After 19 years of living on Andros, the love for the simplicity of the environment and the friendliness of local inhabitants continues to grow.
Michael envisioned building a warm and welcoming luxury home that showcased the natural island beauty, and with a strict attention to detail it had to offer barefoot elegance that could be shared with others.
With this vision in mind, Michael built KettleStone without compromise.
Michael Hornby purchased this villa in 2004
Situated on one acre … KettleStone land was chosen from years of local island research and a great stroke of opportunity which involved being offered the ideal virgin land from which to commence construction.
Saving as much natural flora as possible was paramount, so carefully the land was hand cleared to preserve mature natural growth.
Minutes from amenities, an international airport only a mere one hour flight from Florida and 5 minutes from a port of entry marina ... the location was ideal. A barrier island chain, shallow lagoon and sufficient elevation to provide a panoramic view and offer cooling breezes ... KettleStone had found its beginning.
KettleStone was built with attention to detail.
Named for the 'Kettle' formations at waters edge and expansive use of hand crafted local 'Stone' ... hand cut limestone ocean-side terraces and poolside patios enable you to take an ocean swim/snorkel to be followed by a dip in the freshwater pool or jetted spa and sun-bathe to the sound of the cascading waterfall.
High vaulted open cedar ceilings and an open concept design gives KettleStone a sense of spaciousness and participation with nature.
Panoramic views from each suite and the centrally located kitchen enable you to appreciate were you are at all times.
Fully landscaped grounds, sheltered breezeways and back patio enable you to enjoy nature front and back.
The spectacular sunrises have to be seen to be believed.
Welcome to KettleStone!
Our family & friends (4 adults/3 college students) enjoyed a fabulous wk at Kettlestone & did not want to leave! It truly exceeded our expectations as a luxurious tropical location to escape the chaos of everyday life & experience relaxation & solitude. Not only was it a magnificient property, but everyone at Kettlestone was incredibly kind & a pleasure to know. Michael was the perfect host going above & beyond to assist w/everything from arranging charter flights & fishing trip to pre-stocking groceries. He provides the ultimate in hospitality w/a dream vacation home stocked w/everything you could possibly want or need. He let us borrow his Expedition to explore the island & was gracious to provide suggestions, directions & answers to all our Andros questions. Somerset Beach was a fun adventure as well as Androsia Batik Factory & taking the plunge into Captain Bill’s Blue Hole. We chose to utilize cook services each evening & were so happy we did. Don is a fantastic cook who created the most delicious meals each night! We loved dining inside & out on the villa’s beautiful tables. Kishalee & Eursela, the housekeepers, were sweet & made our stay so relaxing. The cleanliness of the villa was consistently excellent during our entire stay. Jonas, the groundskeeper, was nice to cut coconuts off the beautiful trees for us to drink fresh coconut water & eat yummy coconut meat. The pictures online do not do justice to the beauty of this villa w/its gorgeous high vaulted cedar ceilings, hand cut stone terraces and patios, panoramic views from each suite, amazing kitchen & baths along w/the open concept design. Outside, we fell in love w/the beautiful stone private ocean access and dock w/palapa. Star gazing in the evenings & watching the sunrise in the mornings made the dock one of our favorite spots. Listening to the natural kettle drums was a special treat. Relaxation goals were successfully exceeded floating in the pool while looking out over the clear turquoise water of the lagoon & by lying in hammocks while palm leaves gently swayed in the breeze overhead. It was great to snorkel & kayak as much as we wanted & discover the incredible sea life in the lagoon & under the dock. The curious Barracuda was a fun daily visitor as well as beautiful starfish & sting rays. We cannot say enough about how much we love Kettlestone & highly recommend it. Many thanks to Michael & his team. We cannot wait to return to Paradise very soon!
This was our first stay at Mike's place. He basically arranged everything from our charter flight from Ft Lauderdale, bought all our groceries, arranged two fishing trips, dinner reservations, private cook for two nights and car rental. Beautiful home with pool, hot tub and private access to beach/bay. two 2 person kayaks for our use. I have been to lots of islands and this by far was our best experience. If you like nightlife this is not the place you want to go, but if you like fishing, the beach and exploring islands this is great!!!
Thanks Mike for a great trip,
Stunning view, fantastic pool, access to the ocean was fabulous. I really enjoyed the common areas, and the beds were very comfortable. Highly recommend.
Mike and his staff do a great job; they have made an out island experience truly exceptional. The villas are as well appointed as can be, clean, the groceries were stocked, beer was on ice, hot tub on, dolphins swimming out front. You can't go wrong, Mike was very attentive throughout our stay and the chef he recommended did an awesome job preparing our meals.... We will be back!
My wife and I and two other couples journeyed to KettleStone Villa for 8 wonderful days. The place and setting is amazing. The owner and host Michael
Hornby was more than accommodating. He shopped for us (Food and beer and wine). Suggested restaurants, shops and activities. The people on Andros Island are the friendliest I've ever met in the Carribean. Very safe for walks. My only caution are the "No see-ums" they really like to gnaw on you when it's not windy So bring your Deet insect repellant. We'd go back in a minute. Talk to Mike about having a cook come to the Villa to prepare dinner. It was fantastic and reasonable
We spent a superb week at Kettlestone with our two boys and two of their friends. There was plenty of activity for everyone: fishing of all sorts (fly, reef & deep sea), snorkeling, etc. Mike was incredibly responsive and helpful leading up to our trip and, during our stay, seamlessly organized all of our activities. The house itself is beautiful and equipped for any eventuality. We highly recommend both Kettlestone and Andros - we will be back again next year.
The KettleStone Villa offers panoramic views and direct entry onto a sand bottom lagoon enhanced by a necklace of cays framing the Bahamas famed turquoise waters. Enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, wading and swimming right off the seaside terrace, or fish off our newly constructed dock. Miles of secluded beaches are very near the property.
Take one or more of our kayaks to the sugar sand beach on nearby Goat Cay minutes from the villa and enjoy a picnic while there, or snorkel the Andros Barrier Reef corals.
If you enjoy scuba diving or reef snorkeling, there is a professional dive center at a local resort only 3 miles from the villa. More experienced divers can enjoy the famous wall of the Tongue of the Ocean or even diving in one of our numerous Blue Holes.
Enjoy spending moonlit nights under the dock's authentic thatch palapa or engaging in intimate conversation seated in one of the several ocean-side terraces...the choice is yours to make.
Andros is abundant with miles of secluded public beaches minutes from the villa ideal for beach-combing, shelling and flats fishing. Fresh Creek is just around the corner from the villa and you can explore the creek and surrounding waters in a small skiff rented from Hank's place 5 blocks away from KettleStone.
Whether you choose organized eco-tours, bird-watching, guided bone fishing, reef or deep sea fishing there are qualified guides we can arrange for you. If an unstructured vacation is more to your liking ... simply explore the island and local settlements at your own pace. Travel is easy and the island is very friendly.
Be sure to visit the local Batik factory and outlet store to check out the hand dyed patterns that make Androsia the unofficial fabric of the Bahamas.
