About Kyle Winslow

We lived in the older home on the property for four years before we built the new house and carriage house. The gardens were finished in 2002. Many of the plants are from the Endolyne Garden Club plant exchange each year. There are Apple, Quince, Fig, and a few Plum trees. The other edibles include huckleberries, sage, rosemary, parsley, and lovage. In the vegetable garden we usually grow blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, artichokes, asparagus, rhubarb, beans, cucumbers, carrots, greens, and many, many tomatoes. There are about 30 pots of annuals around the property. There is a greenhouse and chickens as well. You are more than welcome to walk through the vegetable garden and grab a ripe tomato in season.

Kyle Winslow purchased this cottage in 1997

Why Kyle Winslow chose Seattle

We live here in West Seattle because it has wonderful views and sunsets, and is not pretentious. Lately it has become very hip and trendy with great restaurants and wonderful bike trails. Many many families live in this area, and the community has a nice friendly feel.

What makes this cottage unique

Better than downtown Seattle because:

Great kitchen.

Way More Quiet.

Closer to the airport using a car.

Nice Parking.

Great walking trails along the water.

More fun wildlife - ( our property has a backyard wildlife sanctuary designation) Coyotes, Raccoons, Grey Herons, Eagles, River Otters, Harbor Seals, and Whales and Daul Porpose every once and a while.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you had a nice stay, and also glad you used the bikes to see some of what West Seattle has to offer. The winters views here at the Carriage house are actually better with no leaves on the trees! Come back in the off season anytime. Kyle and Michael

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is gorgeous and a slice of heaven. The view of the Puget sound along with the fabulous location made it feel like home away from home.

A beautiful and peaceful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The carriage house was just perfect for us. Everything was beautiful and clean and relaxing and cozy. The garden grounds were luxurious, the bed was comfortable, the bikes were easy and convenient, and so was the overall location. Peaceful with water views in a quiet location yet close enough to catch the ferry to downtown Seattle. Plenty of fun places to eat in West Seattle too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. I am so glad you enjoyed eating here in West Seattle. There is a new restaurant opening each week it feels like. The Seattle Fish Company even has good fish and chips and other yummy lunch items while you are buying food for dinner. We do love it here.

A Quiet Respite

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this Seattle carriage house and would definitely return. It has an artistic aesthetic we enjoyed very much. The cottage has "zen views" of Puget Sound. We were close enough to walk to Lincoln Park in the early mornings, where we viewed bald eagles, river otters, seals and fishermen. The cottage was clean and amply supplied with basic items and the bath towels were thick. We especially liked coming home to a quiet place to sleep at the end of a busy day of touring and visiting with family. Our only regret is that we couldn't spend more time there.

Nice spot to use as a home base for Seattle

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The property was really cute and just enough room for 2 people. There was lots of helpful information provided. Wish we had more time to explore, but property served as a good home base to explore Seattle without being downtown. Loved the location.

Owner's Response: Let us know if there is more information you need about places to go in and around West Seattle and downtown. We enjoy hiking as well and love out of the way places like the Seattle Conservatory and the Gum Wall at Pikes Place Market. Please come back again when you have more time to explore.
