Rouge and rose July 2010

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed in Rouge - July 2010. We also rented Rose as we were travelling woth friends. Cannot praise the property highly enough. Was even better than the description and was very roomy and well equipped for our family of 4. Standard of cleanliness was superb - the best we have seen in a rental cottage and we have stayed in quite a few.

The location was beautiful and quiet, perfect for relaxing. Welcome pack of basic food ans wine when we arrived was great - no extra cost and we hadn't expected it. Pool was lovely and games area very well equipped - the kids loved it.

Derek and Sue, who looked after the place for the owners were very helpful and we had many a chat with derek as he was over daily to clean the pool.

Had great times in Bergerac, a lovely town. we were there for the Bastille day fireworks, not to be missed, must be the best display we have ever seen.

Will definitely be back again.

Great Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from La Forestine and had a great holiday! The Gites are clean and modern - perfect for a family without unnecessary frills. The location is superb - handy for Bergerac and all of the Dordogne region. The gites are in a lovely wooded valley, in a quiet and very relaxing setting. We even saw 2 deer at the end of the garden, grazing, while we lay by the pool one late afternoon!

We would definitely recommend a visit!

La Forestine is situated in the heart of the country yet is only 15 minutes away from the bustling market town of Bergerac. The Dordogne is a wonderful area which really does have something for everyone. The entire region is steeped in history going back as far as prehistoric times with many examples of cave paintings. In nearby Bergerac you can enjoy a wide variety of pavement bars and cafes, as well as a very good choice of shopping. In addition there are a number of weekly markets where you can purchase local produce and other goods. Some of the best restaurants in the entire region are situated in the Old Town. In the surrounding area you can visit the many châteaux and vineyards, canoe down the Dordogne, visit other historic towns in the area such as Sarlat and Perigueux, or simply relax in the countryside.
