Overview

Nokomis House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This quaint cottage home is the PERFECT place to relax, and to also enjoy the tropical landscaping while sitting on our private wood deck. It is located in a very quiet and safe neighborhood on a lot with numerous flowering plants and palms. We are less than a mile (and much closer 'as the crow flies') from one of the most BEAUTIFUL beaches in the world - Nokomis beach and Casey Key.

You can easily ride a bike or walk to the beach! The road leading to the beach was just repaved and now includes a bike path. On the way to the beach, stop in at Pelican Alley (for the BEST crabcakes), or Pop's (fish and chips anyone?) and have a bite to eat...they are great casual restaurants right on the intracoastal waterway. There is also a general store, homemade ice cream, a surf shop, and water sports rentals all within walking distance of our home.

Our home features a private screened in patio made of terracotta tile with a teak wooden table and chairs for outdoor dining. The screened lanai area opens up to an open-air, private wooden deck which is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. This area is perfect for star watching at night, tanning in private, or for letting your children go outside to play in an enclosed and safe place! There's even a hammock for that favorite book (or maybe a nap?). It is a very spacious deck. It's the most amazing open-air, peaceful feeling...

The inside of the home is like new... freshly painted and newly decorated. There is a beautiful small dining room area... perfect for a nice dinner. There are many comfortable places to sit and relax throughout the home, which is very comfortable and cheery. We offer big closets in the bedrooms and dressers for all of your storage needs. There is a breakfast nook and also a beautiful, small dining area.

The other feature about this house that we must mention is that no matter which window or door you are looking out of, the view is gorgeous. Our lot is a corner lot, so the views feel very open as is the 'tropical nature' around our home. Here, you will find locals walking, running, or biking in our pedestrian friendly neighborhood.

There are even 3 neighborhood parks - all within a few blocks of our home. 2 are directly on the waters of Lyons Bay for your fishing pleasure. THE CLOSEST BEING ONLY STEPS FROM OUR FRONT DOOR!

The historical downtown Venice is only two miles south and provides quaint antique shops. Siesta Key and the Village is only 25 minutes north, as is Sarasota's Main Street which features many restaurants and shops. Visit St Armands Circle, 35 minutes north for more great shopping and restaurants! Disney World and all of the other Orlando attractions are just 2 hours away!

One more reason why you will want to come to Nokomis is that every WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY night on the beach is 'drums by the sunset' which you have to experience in order to appreciate the beauty of it. Anyone who has a drum... any kind of drum... will bring it to the beach where a big group of local drummers drum their drums until the sun sets (starting an hour before sundown).

There you will find locals and tourists alike dining in the sand, playing in the sand and dancing in the sand. I'll never forget the first time we witnessed it. We were mesmerized! There were families with blankets all over the beach, kids playing, honeymooners enjoying the romantic mood, people with lightweight plastic tables and chairs made up to look ELEGANT with beautiful tablecloths and linen napkins, etc, champagne on ice, wine, fruit and cheese platters, and anything else you could IMAGINE to bring in a picnic basket or cooler.

All of that coupled with the great SUNSET and the beat of the drums is an amazing experience...

We look forward to serving you in any way we can and if you have ANY additional questions, just call Steve right now!

Why Steve chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

Nokomis/Casey Key - with its building height restrictions - is an 'old Florida' oasis in a state abounding with high rise beach-front condominiums. Here you will find miles long pristine white sandy beaches that suits both the family atmosphere, and also more secluded spots for those seeking out the private, romantic getaway.

What makes this house unique

Walk or ride bikes on a peninsula with an eclectic mix of multi-million dollar homes, the more modest single family homes, dotted with 1920's era Spanish style homes. Or launch kayaks at the neighborhood park only 2 homes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We both wanted to just say thanks to you for the use of your cottage last week. We thoroughly enjoyed it, along with its close proximity to Nokomis Beach and Venice. It's a beautiful setting.

This was our first experience renting a property rather than a motel. This wonderful completely furnished cottage was perfect in everyway. It is very clean and equipped with everything you could need. My wife enjoyed cooking in the totally equipped kitchen and serving in a nice dinning room or outside in the lanai or on the huge deck. It had everything from numerious board games to bicycles and fishing equipment in the garage. It is located in a beautiful neighborhood which is close to many restaurants, beaches, the intercoastal waterway all within 5 minutes driving distance.

This cottage exceed all our expectations. Our biggest surprise was how close we were to everything from a supermarket to great beaches and restaurants. Steve was easy to contact and work with. His neighbors were nice and we even borrowed some flour from one. We were feeling at home there. Steve obviously has a lot of pride in his property. After this experience, we will not be staying in a motel when we visit our grandchildren. First on our list will be Steve's property, if it is available. Thank you Steve for making our stay one to remember.

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this clean and cozy cottage. We’re frequent visitors to this area and usually stay at our relatives place, but this time decided to show the beautiful Nokomis to our friends. We’ve seen places, but I should say that we’ve found this hidden gem called the Steve’s place. Our friends were pleasantly surprised and relatives who visited us for BBQ have found this place very comforting. Being conveniently located near our favorite Nokomis beach and nearby Nokomis Groves citrus farm it also offers benefits of a quiet neighborhood which makes it a perfect vacation spot. We would certainly recommend this place and plan on staying here in the future. Thank you Steve for making us feel home!

Our recent visit

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently spent a week at this adorable home and couldn't have been more pleased. The location of the home is close to the beach, shopping, and dining. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood and it came fully furnished with everything we could possibly have needed from kitchen items and dishes to linens and towels. One of the first things we noticed was how clean the home was upon our arrival. We were able to quickly unpack and began to feel at home almost immediately. We would definitely recommend this home for your next vacation to this area. We certainly plan on staying again in the future.

Very good is a better rating!

  • 4 of 5

My sister and husband met us in Florida and her Florida kids joined us for a 25th anniversary gathering. Steve's Nokomis home was clean and comfortable, and though the master bedroom was upscale, the second bedroom was outfitted with twin beds and better suited to a couple with small children rather than two adults. The location is in a nice neighborhood, but a car is necessary to sightsee. The Nokomis beach is beautiful and was the site for our party. We had a picnic table under an arbor that overlooked the ocean. It was a Million Dollar view! The weather in October is ideal. We ate all breakfasts on the deck. Overall, I'd say it was a very good family gathering place. I would recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Owner's Response: Thanks Marci, for your favorable review. I would like to add my listing states and clearly shows twin beds in the second bedroom. In the past, some adult guests have chosen our quality queen size sleeper sofa located in the reading room rather than the smaller twin beds. Additionally, please allow me to point out my home is literally only 3 homes from a neighborhood park which has direct water access to Lyons Bay, for those interested in canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. And exactly 1 mile to the beautiful Casey Key/Nokomis Beach and all of its scenic beauty. Thanks again for recommending my home to friends and family. Steve

Very nice home in fantastic area of Florida!

  • 5 of 5

It's always a gamble renting a house based only on pictures posted online. However, this house is better than we expected. The owner Steve was a pleasure to deal with. Fantastic value for the money. Everything you need for your stay is provided. Tile floors throughout the house, very nicely painted and decorated, updated kitchen and bathrooms, ceiling fans in every room. Clean as a whistle throughout. Located 2 minutes from beautiful Casey Key and some of the best beaches in Florida. This area is a golfer's paradise...30+ golf courses within a half-hour minute drive. I've already recommended this home to friends and family and will be definitely returning myself.
