Limoges Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2/3

Discover this wonderful unspoilt area of France from the comfort of this delightful little cottage. La Petite Chabrenas is situated in a small hamlet surrounded by woods and meadows and is found ‘down the end of the lane’, providing a tranquil base from which to explore. Relaxing drives take you along lazy rivers to chateaux, picturesque market towns, lakes with swimming beaches or the ancient Cities of Limoges and Brive, as well as the Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys. This pretty little self contained cottage and garden allow you to experience the quiet and peaceful setting of Chabrenas. A perfect base for a holiday in France.

Exploring the Countryside: There are local swimming lakes at Meuzac, St Germain les Belles and St. Yrieix la Perche with beaches and small restaurants/snack bars. Short walks can be taken within the bounds of the property and there are plenty of longer signposted walks or cycle rides around the locality. The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all within easy travelling distance with their stunning views and pretty villages including Rocamadour, Collonge La Rouge, Cirq Lapopie and many others

Culture / Places of Interest : Chabrenas is close to the cultural areas of Limoges (30 km) and Brive (50 km) both of which have cathedrals, many shops, museums, theatres and plenty of local history. Many summer festivals, classical concerts are held in local towns in July and August. Horse racing is held every Wednesday and some weekends during July/August/September in Arnac Pompadour. There are many chateaux to visit including our local Coussac Bonneval (8 km) also La Grenerie, Hautefort, Arnac Pompadour, Jummillac le Grand and a bit futher afield Turenne, Castlenau & Montal. Lubersac, Arnac Pompadour and St Yrieix are market towns on the route of “Richard the Lionheart”, all within 10/15 minutes drive and all have shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Oradour sur Glane is also just northwest of Limoges and this village was the scene of a 2nd World War massacre by the Nazis. Spectacular caves can be seen at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux.

Guestbook comments from the owner

For two weeks we stayed in Le Petit Chabrenas and had a lovely time. The house is more than comfortable. For someone who likes to cook and prepare dinner themselves the many kitchen utensils and the amount of (very nice) crockery are wonderful. The bed was good, the garden spacious and private (there are trees to hang your hammock!). We made a few longer walks in the surroundings and enjoyed the quiet and beautiful scenery. Do not expect touristic excitement near by. If you love to be away from the madding crowd, this is your gite!

A Treemendous Stay!

  • 5 of 5

What an absolute delight! Jenny and David most accommodating, friendly and humorous. The location is quiet, the cottage superb and the weather forecast stuck to the window each morning was a great help! The Limousin area reminded us of our home county of Derbyshire and the way of life is idyllic. Reminded us of how England used to be and - quite frankly - how it still should be!

Got to go again soon! And no the spelling in the title is not a mistake - its intentional! Jenny and David will explain when you arrive! Please go, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside

  • 5 of 5

Chabrenas is a sweet little dolls' house; cosy, well equipped, immaculately clean and the silence at night is almost unearthly. It feels satisfyingly remote but is actually only a few minutes' drive from the main road with easy access to shops and restaurants. Jenny and David were perfect hosts and very helpful when I had a problem with my car, even ferrying me to and from the garage! The very pretty and sparsely populated Limousin region is well worth exploring even in the off-season. If you start to miss city life, Limoges is little more than half an hour's drive away and has one of the finest cathedrals in France and excellent arts museum as well as elegant shops, restaurants and cafes.

Warm stay / Warm verblijf in koude oktobermaand

  • 5 of 5

In the beginning of october 2015 we stayed at 'La petite Chabrenas' in Meuzac.

The idyllic cottage matched in all ways to our expectations. Surrounded by beautifull nature and filled with everything one would wish for a cottage.

David and Jenny were very attentive and warm. On our arrival in the evening this warmth came directly forward when we were suprised by a nice and already litt fire!

Perfect location and very well equpped

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting the Limousin for about ten years, making many enjoyable discoveries along the way, and this year was no exception. Along with the wonderful chateaux and medieval towns of the region, we discovered the wonderful gite at Chabrenas. The images on the web site promised much, and we were not disappointed. Spotlessly clean and amply equipped, this is probably the best gite we have stayed in and all at a very reasonable price. Although we are attracted to the area because of the quieter, slower pace of life, the proximity to the A20 autoroute made many places accessible without spending too many hours at the wheel. There are also attractions in the area for the more active with Jenny and David our hosts, able to recommend the best of them. We only had a week available to us this year and it would be difficult to find a better place to have spent it. Next time, and there will be one, it will have to be a fortnight.

fantastic

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in France for over 20 years and we have never had such a well equipped gite. Jenny and David were a fantastic couple. They provided us with everything we could possibly need. We did some of the walks with the maps supplied in the gite. Also the garden was great, even though we were there in April we managed to sit out there most days to eat breakfast and dinner. If we go back to this are we would defiantly stay here again

Chabrenas is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Haute Vienne Department of Limousin. It is ideally situated close to the main A20 Autoroute (10 Mins) if you wish to travel quickly to the attractions of the area. However, if you prefer you can take gentle drives down country lanes and wend your way to visit local chateaux, such as Coussac Bonneval, still inhabited by the Marquis de Bonneval, or follow the route of ‘Richard the Lionheart’. Stop and sample food and wine in some of the prettiest villages in France such as Segur-le-Chateau, Montemart, St Robert, Collonges-la-Rouge and Turenne, or relax by one of the many swimming lakes in the area. Wend a little further and visit the unique sights of Sarlat-la-Caneda, Rocamadour or Cirq Lapopie, a few of the picturesque villages that make up the Dordogne and Lot Valleys.
