15 mins. to the sea. A real 'Home from Home'
Some comments by our visitors describing Carignan from their own experiences. See our website for more details please.
1. We've had a glorious week here in Aumes. We've loved Pezenas - charming village full of friendly folk. Lodeve - a wonderful entry across the river into the centre ville. Sete - lots of action around the port. Take a harbour cruise, most enjoyable. The oysters are fantastic!
2. To our wonderful hosts, thank you for allowing us to share your wonderful home, we have been absolutely delighted with the facilities, the attention to detail and your kindness.
3. End of a very quick week. The villa was lovely, so firstly a big thank you to Ann and John for putting together a wonderful home from home. Enjoy your time here, we did, and big thanks again to Ann and John.
4. We leave here refreshed from our fortnights vacation. Due to our lazy lifestyle here we must be going home a few pounds heavier after all the BBQ and restaurant meals.
Thank you Ann and John

About Ann Brown
Before Aumes we spent 10 years living in Pezenas, where the first 5 years were spent renovating a large farmhouse with three holiday apartments plus our own. Our son Oliver has always lived here and after studying wine production now works with Vin de Pays D'Oc (an organisation for independent growers). Ann has also completed a full time wine course. In the UK Ann was a dental nurse and John had a boatyard. We enjoy our life here, run the houses together and spend our leisure time visiting the area, particularly the coastal regions.
Ann Brown purchased this House in 2004
Why Ann Brown chose Montagnac
Aumes is not far from Pezenas and so we knew it already. It's a village away from hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet within easy reach of all we need. There's a village grocery shop, small post office and town hall. Walks in the country are all around the village and are easy for beginners and little people alike. In the village there are fresh eggs and fruits like apricots and cherries when in season. Bigger shops are in Montagnac and Pezenas
What makes this House unique
As a location for holidays or living all year round Aumes is perfect for visiting every part of the region. You will be able to have days out in Spain, go into the hills for hiking, or visit the coastal fishing villages for sea-food and sunbathing. The cities of Montpellier and Beziers are within easy reach. This area is renowned for fetes and of festivals. In the summer months there is invariably an evening event with music and food to go to. Looking at our visitors book we can see that our guests have enjoyed both the region and the house!

Sehr empfehlenswert!
Best holiday home we've stayed in!
Two weeks in the south of France was always going to be a pleasurable experience, but staying at John and Ann's villa in Aumes made it extra special. The villa has a great pool and outside eating areas, and the layout of the house, including great bedrooms and bathrooms, were perfect for a group of friends away together. Writing this note on a drizzly day in London, it feels like we found a little slice of paradise.
There is a lovely little village, Montagnac, within walking distance and a larger town, Pezenas, a short drive away, for everything you could need while away. We loved exploring the area - when we could drag ourselves away from the pool!
This villa simply couldn't have been better!!!!
Thank you Alex, we are pleased you enjoyed your holiday and hope to see you all again!

Very nice Holiday home
The house is in a quiet aria but close to many nice places to visit, John can tell you all about them!
The house itself is very nice and cosy with everything you need available. Beautiful pool (too cold for my taste :-)) which unfortunatly we didn't get to use much because of the weather.
A really friendly house
This is a superbly decorated and equipped holiday home- everything we needed. It is really friendly for the elderly or mildly disabled people- the swimming pool especially and offers lots of space. Cooking and shopping are a pleasure. Easy parking. The area offers fabulous opportunities for sightseeing, photography, restaurants and cultural actitivities, or petanque in the local village
Thank you Arthur, I think you have summed it up very well in just a few lines! We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Ann and John
The Somerville clan have returned again. Aumes and the surrounding area is even better than the last time we visited. The location is central to many great places to visit, however, the house is so good it is just as good to stay at home! A superb holiday. Thanks for everything especially accomodating us for the extra days when our flight was cancelled due to the volcanic ash, it made things so much easier for us. We will be back again to enjoy your hospitality. Colette, Colin and Chloe
Thank you for the review, we know you enjoyed your holiday here and it's really nice to see your views in print, it makes the effort we make really worthwhile and we look forward to seeing you all again. Ann and John
We have just returned from our second stay in this great villa in Aumes, for two weeks this time. Although we like to laze by the pool it is in a great position if you want to see a lot of the surrounding area. There is a lot of information about places to visit in the villa, and the owners are very helpful pointing out places to eat and shop. The villa is well equipped and everything is in good working order. We hope to return next year.
Graham and Audrey.
Graham and Audrey, thank you for your review. It's very rewarding to see the results of all our efforts and planning in print! We do make a special effort to see that our visitors have a good holiday. We provide the house, and its the Languedoc Roussillon which provides the fantastic backdrop to your holiday, a good combination.
Looking forward to your return. Ann and John
On holiday you will want to relax round the pool and for some days you may want to go further afield. No problem at all, you will be in one of the most beautiful areas of France, and your holiday home is only a few kilometers from the sea. You can go walking in the National Parks, follow the trail of the Cathares (you should read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail before you come ISBN 0-552-12138-X ) and investigate one of Europe’s greatest mysteries ( and maybe find the treasure!). You can look out for the Via Domita (the Roman road running from Rome to Spain which is still visible in parts), or visit the Mediterranean ports of Meze, Bouzigues, Sete, etc and enjoy sea-food caught the same day and looking out over the fishing boats. This part of the Languedoc is truly wonderfull, and retains much of the magic of other times. Ther are hundreds of sites and activities, amongst them are: The Grottos, Aqualand, St. Guilhem le Desert, canoeing, sea swimming, beaches, etc etc. Other Activities: Searching out antique bargains, house hunting, trips to Spain, eating out. Golf: We have a number of golf courses within easy reach, the nearest one being St. Thomas about 30 minutes away. Golfers have stayed with us and tell us that they found it very friendly, with a good restaurant.
