About len st. croix

I'm a retired School Principal who has worked in Quebec, Northern B.C. and the Okanagan Valley.

Born in Ontario, grew up in Monteral and received my education in Monteral ( Loyola - McGill). Re-located to this area-Lake Country- in '84 and greatly enjoy the natural amenities the area has to offer.

len st. croix purchased this cottage in 1984

Why len st. croix chose Okanagan Valley

This is a very peaceful and " hidden " area of the valley. A special area where you can truly relax and totally enjoy nature at its best.

What makes this cottage unique

Glancing out the front window overlooking the Okanagan Lake in the early mornings and late evenings, seeing the snow capped mountains as winter approaches - these are but a few treasured moments this place offers.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our week at your slice of paradise was fabulous! The lake was warm and the weather, though not always sunny, was still very pleasant.

Thanks and please book us in for next year!

Great little cabin, great location.

  • 4 of 5

We love Okanagan center! It's a beautiful spot! The beach across the street, the boat launch down the road. Gray Monk & 50th Parallel wineries just down the road, awesome! The cabin was clean and well kept at a fair price. Thank you Len for the fresh fruit! We enjoyed our stay.

Great summer cottage

  • 5 of 5

After spending nearly 40 summers on the west side of the Lake, we were new to Lake Country and we loved it. The cabin was just what we were looking for and we loved how close it was to everything. The beach and swim area is crystal clear and great for little ones to play and enjoy the water. There's great walking trails, wine, cycling, and local orchards. Everything you could want. We'll be back that's for sure. Len was great to deal with!

This is our 15th holiday in the cabin. Location is great - the lake is across the street, public beach is always quiet in the mornings and evenings, beautiful nature trail along the shore. Shopping centers are conveniently located as well as easy access to a few wineries in the vicinity. The cabin is clean, the kitchen is well stocked. The view from the deck is magnificent. Len and Loraine are great hosts, always receptive to our needs. We are looking forward to our next holiday already.

Location, Location, Location

steps to the warm waters of Okanagan Lake and only minutes to town for supplies and a park for frisbee or playing catch. The boat launch was only 1KM away. The location was perfect for our family of 5 and our 2 year old Labradoodle. Dogs are allowed on the beach as long as they are leashed.

great value and location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in lake county! The cabin was perfect for our needs. Nice patio with a beautiful view of the lake. You're super close to the lake, literally 2 min walk so can go for a dip anytime when your hot, after dinner etc. Cute little cafe up the street for salads and great sandwiches, ice creams etc. Check out Grey monk winery about ten mins away. They also have an awesome roof top patio. Alittle pricey but worth it.

Len was great, checking to make sure we had everything we needed and leaving fresh fruit for our arrival.

The one draw back was the air conditioning. One portable unit in the living room that didn't work very well. There were fans in the bedroom and if you go in summer, you'll need them!

Being situated between Kelowna and Vernon activities abound from shopping, arts, musical performances, wineries, golf, skiing, hiking, cycling.

The OKANAGAN VALLEY is part of B.C.'s Interior Plateau and is characterized by a string of lakes created by glaciation. The area lies in a fertile bowl, ideal for orchards and vineyards. The Monashee Mountains lie to the east while the Cascade Mountains lie to the west, causing the rain shadow effect that produces the area's semi-arid climate. Agriculture is still a prime activity with tree fruit orchards slowly giving way to increased grape production ( for the rapidly growing wine industry ) and cherry production.

Lake Country's close proximity to UBC-O, Kelowna International airport, world class golf courses and ski resorts make it an ideal location.

Recently the Okanagan Valley was rated as having the best weather in Canada. Our weather provides dry warm summer months- perfect for a wide variety of water sports. Fine sandy beaches offer a great place to spend the day, with picnic tables, shade trees and plenty of sunshine.

As evening approaches soft breezes entice the visitor to take a stroll. About one third of mid-summer days are tropical in nature ( max. temp. > 30 c )with little chance of precipitation.

Take a trip to the DEE LAKE CHAIN of mountain lakes which offer great fishing. Beaver Lake and Dee Lake resorts both offer boat rentals.

Swimming, fishing, boating and water sports are popular on all of our lakes, from the jewel tone waters of Kalamalka lake, the warm sandy beaches of Wood lake and the crystal clear waters and pebbles of Okanagan lake.

Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park contains a courtesy dock for emergency and pedestrian use, a small swimming beach, a viewing/fishing platform and a boat launch.

Turtle Bay Marina on Wood Lake has a boat launch, rentals and marine fuel. A shallow channel at the north end of the lake gives access to Kalamalka Lake. A municipal boat launch is located on the north east shore of Wood Lake.

PELMEWASH Parkway came about when the new strech of Hwy 97 was built between Oyama and Winfield. The old highway that runs along Wood Lake was renamed and is now a recreational corridor. Ride the level grade, 8.5 km paved road at a leisurely pace. Stop for a picnic, swim or take your rod and reel along for a fresh catch of the day or launch a canoe or kayak for an afternoon on the water..

Bike rentals are available through Lake Country Cycle ( Woodsdale rd 250-448-1926). On the north shore of Wood Lake, you can rent seadoos, paddle boards and kayaks from Kona Watersports.

For the hiking enthusiast, take one of the many trails on Spion Kop. The 5.2 trail to the summit will reward you with spectacular views of four of the lakes in Lake Country. Watch the hawks and eagles and many other birds.

There are several trails to choose from - from moderate to more difficult. A map of the trail is posted at each of the trailheads and printed maps are available at the municipal office and our visitor information centre.

Experience the heart of Lake Country and stop for a picnic, a game or a public arts show in one of our many parks. Our parks are equipped for year-round sports including tennis, baseball, soccer and beach volleyball.

Our parks also provide lots of outdoor entertainment for kids with plenty of playgrounds, water-spray park and skateboard park. Take in the public art displays located around the area and a seasonal Farmer's Market at Swalwell Park.
