Welcome to our very special vacation home - an eclectic and romantic home buried in an Aspen and Spruce grove only 20 minutes from the Victorian town of Breckenridge. Recently remodeled with fresh paint, carpet, wood floors, bedding and great amenities. Drive a little and save a lot! A cozy and charming private home located on an acre (backing to National Forest for endless walks and hiking) with commanding views of 14,000 foot mountains with all the creature comforts including:
Three bedrooms, two baths, plus two sleeping lofts and a bonus fourth bedroom over the garage - sleeps seven to 12. Hot tub in solarium overlooking valley. Hardwood floors, country kitchen, two fireplaces and large decks. Satellite TV, stereos, VCR/DVD, videos, books, piano and other accessories. Enclosed single car garage and ski room. Washer and dryer. Backs to National Forest and walking distance to hiking, fishing and other recreational activities.
I love to be up in the mountains and breathe the fresh air. So many ways to enjoy the seasons here and a good book at the end of the day are all I need
Craig Huey purchased this house in 2005
Mountain views and enjoymemnt of trails for hiking, skiing, and biking.
Quiet and natural beauty, calming from the sounds of the river in the valley below and stirring of the leaves. Peaceful walks in the woods and great fishing and biking nearby.
All in all a nice house, comfortable, fairly spacious, warm.
Great mountain views.
Indoor hot tub was great.
Piano is a nice touch.
Large bathroom upstairs.
Dog friendly. Huge plus.
Some basic cleanliness/tidiness problems. Multiple used food containers in frig (alot of half-empty used peanut butter jars, half empty ketchup bottle and salsa jars, etc.) Our stay was for 5 nights, the frig should have been cleaned out.
There were half-used bars of soap in the showers. The showers also contained mostly empty used shampoo bottles. Either have new (unwrapped) soap bars and unopened mini shampoo bottles available, or clean out the showers completely. (Who would use a stranger's used soap bar?)
There was trash already in trashcan upon our arrival.
Kitchen sponges and scrub pads were used and dirty upon our arrival. Better to not have any at all. We went to the store and bought our own kitchen sponge and scrub pads.
Some drawers and the kitchen under sink were not clean. The cupboard under the kitchen island was dirty and a mess with multiple half empty food containers and jars (half empty PB, jelly, half empty pasta boxes, etc).
The coffee maker was not cleaned well, there was liquid coffee on bottom of the pot (between the pot and base) upon our arrival.
Downstairs bathroom waste basket very dirty, had hair stuck to bottom.
The downstairs shower was dirty, serious soap scum on the water handle, it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. (Also had the half used soap bar and mostly empty shampoo bottles.) We bought shower cleaner and just cleaned it ourselves.
TV is obsolete, has no HDMI port so you can't watch movies from Netflix or iTunes using your laptop or iPad. Very outdated.
At night the living room is poorly lit. Low wattage bulbs.
All in all, too many minor things that minimal expense and effort would easily fix. Needs basic upgrades and a better commitment to cleanliness.
We chose this house for its location & amenities (ok, the hot tub was a selling point!) and were happy with our choice. Location was perfect - about 20 minutes from downtown Breck; the views were spectacular and although the pics posted are really good, they still don't do this place justice! The starry skies at night were breathtaking. We hope to come back to visit during a summer season to get a different perspective on the layout and natural beauty of this property. We had a great visit!
This mountain home was great for our family get-together. There was space to spread out, space to play games, and a wonderful fully-stocked kitchen to make our meals. The hot tub was fabulous after a day of skiing. Also, being a bit out of town made the night sky awesome.
What a BEAUTIFUL home and area. Eight Iowa State students stayed at this great rural home over spring break and LOVED it!! It was a great relaxing getaway, I would highly recommend it. Everything worked properly and it was very accommodating. The many windows were great to see all of the views and the hot tub was so relaxing.
We have loved our two lengthy stays here.
The indoor hot tub is amazing, the fantastic deck and hammock are gorgeous.
If you are at all interested in hiking at 14er, you will DROOL over Mt Democrat, Mt Lincoln and Bross--they are right there! My son and I hiked Lincoln, and got very close to summiting Democrat.
The reservoir nearby held the first fish my son ever caught (which we grilled on the grill they had), and some beautiful family hikes just above it.
The beds and bathrooms were comfy, and there is a piano too!
The owner is great, there is a new washer and dryer, a perfect place for a young family or hikers who want to acclimatize to climb the only 3 14ers in the state you can bag in 1 day.
Even though WE couldn't do all 3.....
Stayed for a week in the summer and had a wonderful time! The house is situated in a beautiful secluded valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks but is at the same time close to amenities and activities/entertainment. Definitely the best of both worlds! Amazing views from the huge picture windows and deck; we truly felt as if we were perched on top of the world. We enjoyed shopping in Breckenridge, kayaking on Dillon Reservoir, soaking in the hot springs at Mt. Princeton, swimming and picnicking at Twin Lakes and just relaxing in the hammock on the beautiful property. The room over the garage was perfect for the teens in our party--plenty of space for them to spread out and have some privacy without being too far away.
We will definitely consider this property for next summer's vacation!
