A tranquil haven
We just spent 12 lovely days in one of these apartments and it was a wonderful experience. The apartment was one of 3, very clean fresh and nicely decorated with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The family (who live in the lower part of the house) are very warm and welcoming. The house is perched on a hillside 5 mins from beach with truly magnificent views over the adriatic sea and the dramatic mountains over on the mainland. There are mainy hidden coves and wonderful pebble beaches with beautiful crystal clear water nearby reachable by foot or car and rather wonderfully by boat from the hotel down the road. You should note that this is a perfect holiday destination for those wanting to experience the beauty of Hvar without being caught up in the touristic hub of the larger towns. We couldn't recommend it more. Thank you!
Spectacular location but chose another apartment!
Let's start saying that the house owners speak only German and Croatian, even if in the description there was written that they speak English. They made no effort to communicate in an understandable language for us, and this caused problems and is unacceptable.
In the photo it seems that the barbecue is right in front of the apartment, but in reality it is in owner's garden, moreover we gently asked to use it with a couple of friends and they said no.
The house was clean but really hot and we had only a fan.
However the location is amazing if you want to stay away from the touristic crowd.
Very nice and clean place with very nice hosts
The flat was nice, clean and modern-equipped (kitchen and furniture were in a very well condition) and fulfilled all of what we expected from the description.
It is in the part of the island that is not as much touristic like Hvar or Jelsa, which is nice since the beach and the place in general is not overcrowed and therefor calm and good to relax. However, when you want to go shopping for groceries, you need to drive about half an hour to get to the next big supermarket. Or you can go to Jelsa town center (same distance) where you can get fresh fish and vegetables from the market.
On-site there is a really small mom-and-pop grocery store for urgent things you need.
The family Mrvelj is very nice, helpfull and obliging. They were also living at the place while we stayed at the flat. They always gave us tipps where to go and what to do and made it clear that when we have any questions we could always come down and ask. In addition, we shared the garden and the grill which worked totally fine.
The island itself is also nice, and has a few sites to explore if at one day you decide to rather do sth more active then lying on the beach. In addition in the tourist places Jelsa, Staligrad and Hvar typical entertainment is offered.
Overall, I can really recommend the place. We really enjoyed our time and would definetly book the place another time.
Turquoise blue sea, beautiful bays and pebble beaches, mild climate, lush vegetation, vineyards, olive groves, endless fields of lavander, historical and cultural sights make Hvar, undoubtedly, the most beautiful islands in the world. In 1997, the magazine 'Traveller', entitel the island as one of the 10 most beautiful islands on earth.
Hvar, 68 km long and up to 10 km wide, with 300 square kilometers, the fourth largest Adriatic Island. It is separated by a narrow inlet, south of the island of Brac. The mild climate of the island thanks to the mountains of Brac, which protect against the cold bora winds. The lavender island of Hvar is traversed lengthwise on the island back by a winding road. Olive groves, fig trees and vineyards cover the slopes. In Lower stretch of lavender, jasmine and vegetable fields. In between a few cypresses, which gives the island a taste of Tuscany.
