Why Kati Hughes chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

This is what we like about our cabin:

The morning sun flooding into the full length of both decks as it clears the valley mist, or glistens on virgin snow in winter. The total silence, uninterrupted by lawn mowers or blowers. The cacophony of animal sounds as they wake up in the farmyard in the valley. Visiting the farm with out young grandchildren is like having our personal petting zoo. The endless stars in a totally black sky much brighter than in any town. Watching a family of deer stroll confidently across the road outside our kitchen window. The tranquility.

Peace and quiet at 3,800 ft

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I typically spend holiday weekends in Hilton Head, but this time around I wanted to avoid crowds, kids, sand, & traffic. I wanted to do something different & figured what could be better than a cabin in the mountains? If you like the outdoors as I do, then this is the place for you. Spacious inside, privacy outside, and I love the rustic look this cabin has. All the amenities you have in your own home are here, and it's clean, comfortable, and extremely well-kept. The hot tub outside is a really nice touch. Outdoor temperatures were 15-20 degrees cooler than here in Charlotte, but still very comfortable, even at night. Boone Golf Club (great course) is only about 7 miles away; there's wine-tasting within 5 miles if that's your thing. It's a really peaceful place, with absolutely no urban noise pollution. Goats, hens, roosters, ducks yes...sirens, car horns, loud music, airplanes, helicopters no. The drive up to the cabin is a fun drive (with the right car) with 3+ miles of winding road up & down the mountain. Closer to the cabin it's a narrow, winding, gravel roadway, so bring plenty of food & take advantage of everything this place offers. You may not want to make multiple trips up & down. Nevertheless, I enjoyed 5 fantastic days here, and I can only hope it's available when I'm ready to do it again. My compliments to the owner.

Great mountain getaway

Beautiful, immaculately clean property in quiet, secluded location, yet centrally located to Valle Crucis, Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk. Will definitely stay here again.

Good for quiet get-away

  • 4 of 5

Very secluded with good view. The hot tub was not working properly, and owners seemed a bit uncaring/unmotivated to address. Overall a good place to get away.

Owner's Response: I am sorry the renter felt that we did not respond to the hot tub malfunctioning quickly enough, these things occasionally go wrong, but we actually had a technician go there to assess the situation and he replaced the motor. Everything is working perfectly now. Kati Hughes Bear Foot Cabin 321 231 8268

Beautiful cabin located in the heart of the NC mountains

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this fine home! The overall layout and home furnishings were very nice as well. We enjoyed sitting and talking by the fireplace downstairs and watching the stars in the hot tub at night. The only downfall was after the road that leads to the cabin turned to gravel, it was a bit "sporty". I would definitely recommend 4wd in the winter months, in case of snow or ice...

Great cabin! Great Owners!

  • 5 of 5

Just enjoyed another great weekend at the Bear Foot Cabin. Like our stay last year, the cabin was super clean and had everything that we needed to enjoy a long weekend of skiing and relaxing. The owners are fantastic and were very accommodating with our travel schedule. We did have a question about the hot-tub during our stay and got an immediate response which was fantastic. I would recommend this cabin to anyone!

Amazing cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing cabin to getaway from it all. Gorgeous inside and out. Cabin had everything you need (dishes, towels, linens, etc.) which was very nice and convenient. Comfy and inviting!! Only downfalls, which would not stop me from renting again but some heads up for others and next time we visit..bring pans/griddle (only had two pans and one was quite difficult to cook in because it was warped), grill was out of gas and we had bought steaks and burgers to grill up (but we managed and cooked them in the oven/stove top, the fireplace doesn't really heat the downstairs but turns the upstairs into a sauna. Again, these things would not keep us from staying here again. It is nestled up so you are away from town (there are houses above and it is the only driveway so cars do drive by). Like I said, the cabin offers so much, is gorgeous and so relaxing. Thank you to the owners for letting us stay and for making your cabin so amazing!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for a great review, a couple of points, there are 4 or 5 pans, not sure why they could not be found, also of course, we do keep a spare full gas bottle, if the renters would let me know we can advise where it is kept.
