Macgregor and Jan have been married for thirty-six years and have lived at Black Butte Ranch since 2004. With the arrival of our two granddaughters, we have enjoyed introducing the next generation to the joys and wonders of BBR. Over the years we have rented numerous vacation homes before purchasing GM 61. We have a good idea of what guests appreciate and have slept on our share of sagging beds, seen every variation on 70's decor from orange formica to dizzying diagonal paneling and upholstery you'd rather not see or touch! We believe in offering our guests quality furnishings, comfortable hotel quality beds with down comforters and cotton blankets, china without chips, sharp knives, organized cabinets, closets and drawers. Keeping GM 61 in top condition is one of our hobbies and we enjoy sharing it with friends and family.
Jan purchased this house in 2002
Four generations of our family have vacationed at Black Butte Ranch for over thirty years. In 2002, only the two of us could make it. We had no intentions of buying a vacation home but, when we saw Glaze Meadow 61, it was love at first sight! GM 61 is a lovely well-maintained home on a large forested lot with abundant wildlife, ample sun and shade, in a quiet neighborhood. A five minute walk on the bike path and you're at Glaze Center, walk or bike five minutes in the other direction and you're at Glaze Meadow with Lupines and two lakes. We love sharing our home with friends and family, making memories for a lifetime. We welcome new and returning guests who share our love of Black Butte Ranch.
Comfortable attractive home on a beautiful forested lot, quiet street, enormous wrap-around deck to follow sun or shade. This home is loaded with lots of thoughtful extras, beautiful quilts hanging on the walls and beds, book, music and video libraries and a good selection of family games. The attractive Fiestaware china, rice cooker, Cuisinart, panini grill, nostalgic milk shake machine, juicer, classic beehive blender, assortment of cook books, something for every chef! This well-maintained home is organized and squared-around. Reading by the fireside in spring, fall and winter is among life's finest. The great outdoors... speaks for itself!
Thanks for a most excellent stay! The weather was fabulous, we did tons of bike rides and so enjoyed the scenery as always!
We booked a week in Glaze 61 based upon reviews in VRBO. Our expectations were met. The location is excellent as it is on a quiet street and within a 5 minute walk to the Glaze Meadow pool and recreation facilities. The unit was clean, well laid out and with enough cookware, BBQ, videos to satisfy almost anyone. The only improvement would be AC as it was very warm during our stay and the fans were not able to cool the upstairs bedroom until early in the morning. Saying that realize that temps during our stay were in the mid 90's, much above average and morer an anomaly We would definitely think about renting this unit again.
My family and I loved staying at Jan's place for a week in June. It is a lovely home and the little extras like the high chair and the movies made our vacation stay that much more comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to work in. In addition, it is so easy to walk to the pool or step out onto the bike/walk path for a longer stroll. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Black Butte.
For almost 40 years we have been vacationing at Black Butte Ranch and this trip was the best. Thank you to the homeowners for the love and comfort that has been maintained in this impeccable home. We will be back.
We are a family of five, kids ages 10, 8, 4.
The house is 80s-tastic--from design to oak accents to the VHS player in the bedroom, old school 50 lb tvs and the cassette playing boom box in the loft. It's SUPER kid-friendly. There's a ton of toys and kid's books in the sports room (two twin beds) and almost the entire Disney Vault of VHS movies in the closet/ toddler room. The only downside is that the cable is minimal (which was frustrating to us because of NBA and NHL playoffs).
BUT--you don't come to a place like this to watch TV.
The kitchen is functional with every single appliance you might ever need. The knives are sharp and there are dishes and silverware for 12 and multiple holidays. The water pressure in the home is wonderful. The washer and dryer are newer. The deck is spacious and peaceful and the grill is a very nice Weber.
When you come, get ready. This is one of the most beautiful resorts! Mountain views, lush meadows and a ton of things to do. There are walking and bike paths throughout the entire 1800 acres and they are well off the road. Our two older kids took off on their bikes several times a day to explore and we never worried about them. There are maps posted at different points along the paths. This home is walking distance to the Glaze Meadow complex, with tennis courts, basketball courts, spa, gym, indoor and outdoor pool, playground and store. The resort is 6 miles from Sisters and a 30 minute drive to Bend. In the other direction, it's a short drive to Hoodoo ski area and a wonderful hike along the McKenzie River Falls Loop Trail.
We can't wait to come back. Our kids felt safe and comfortable in this home and so did we.
We had absolutely great time in this property. This is a very well maintained house with everything guests need for a pleasant stay! The house is very clean and with personal touches everywhere. This is the only rental property that had all the clocks on correct time ( we rent a lot and never seen correct time on the clocks anywhere in the rental houses) - just an interesting observation that proves the above point that the house is well maintained. We will definitely come back again!
Every time we stay here it feels just like home! Great set-up for sleeping, cooking, fireside relaxing, and enjoying Glaze Meadow recreation area. Great for 1 or 2 families to share with children. Thoughtful amenities and personal touches abound. Very responsive owners. This will continue to be my "go to home" at Black Butte Ranch
Hoodoo Ski Resort 20 min., Mount Bachelor 70 minutes. Nearby classic Camp Sherman, headwaters of the Metolius, Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. Catch-and-release fly fishing and white-water rafting in the Metolius, McKenzie and Deschutes. Smith Rock for hiking, fishing and rock climbing. Hikers dream... many trails and summiting opportunities including Black Butte, South and Middle Sisters, Pacific Crest Trail. Abundant mountain and road biking in this region.
