ROME ITALY PERFECT ZEGNO APARTMENT

Overlooking the exclusive Hotel d`Inghilterra and on the corner of fashionable Via Condotti in Rome, the Zegno apartment is in the heart of all that is elegant in the Eternal City. A two minute walk puts you in front of the Spanish Steps, a location that is so popular because it is so central. Stroll for 15 minutes and you can find yourself at most of the noteworthy sites of historic Rome.

"Located just a very short walk from the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Stella McCartney's shop as well as other specialty shops, both high end and local."

Exterior

The building mirrors the neighborhood, a proper 'palazzo' built about 250 years ago when the Princes Torlonia were amassing their fortunes by managing the fortunes of the Vatican and build the palace across the street. The warm ochre of the Palazzo, enhanced by its white marble casements, dominates the near-view from two of the living room windows. The palace is subtly lit at night; it glows but doesn`t glare into the windows.

The apartment is on the fifth floor (third, European designation) and is in the same building as the Renata (2 bedrooms, sleeps 5+1) Vrbo #146091 and Valentina (3 bedrooms, sleeps 7+1) apartments. Total possible guests 19.

"This a great place to stay; large, comfortable, quiet, well located, and beautifully furnished."

Interior

Elegance and refinement describe the Zegno apartment. It is large, comfortable and is first class apartment for visitors to Rome who want the 'best of the best' in a vacation apartment. The apartment`s top floor position ensures plenty of light. There are large, handsome windows in the living room, two look towards Via Condotti which goes to the Spanish Steps and two overlook Hotel d`Inghilterra and via Bocca di Leone.

"We especially enjoyed the amount of light provided by the big windows in the living room and the view down the streets with their gorgeous decorations for Christmas."

The apartment is entered through a set of double doors. First is a a vestibule where the owner (who does not live on the premises) has a small desk to organize check-in`s and housekeeping. There is a room off the vestibule where the housekeeper, who cares for the Zegno, Valentina and Renata apartments, lives. Straight ahead are the doors to enter the Zegno apartment.

The living room is roomy, with a comfortable sofa and four upholstered armchairs. There is a long antique dining table that will seat eight. There are many beautiful antiques and paintings from the owner`s ancestral home in Puglia. A flat screen TV mounted in the corner receives some English-language news stations.

"The large Living and Dining area was the hub for meals, card games, and reading with plenty of space for us and friends that visited."

Next to the living room is a large bedroom accented with Pompeii red walls; the beds can be configured as two twin beds or made up together as a dual-king. There is a large armoire style closet and a handy built-in luggage rack for a suitcase. The built-in bookshelves have an interesting selection of literature and art books.

Down the hallway is a bathroom in creamy marble with a sink, toilet, shower and bidet.

Further down the hall is the kitchen. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the attractive courtyard, filling the room with light. The kitchen has marble countertops, four burner gas stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher, small refrigerator/freezer, toaster and coffee maker, dishes, flatware, pots and pans. No microwave.

Off the kitchen is a split bathroom done in white mosaic tiles. One part has a small sink and toilet. The second part has double sinks and a large glass-walled modern shower

Continuing down the hallway is the smallest of the bedrooms; it faces the inner courtyard. It has a twin bed, a small desk, a lamp, plus a sleeping loft with safety rails has a French twin, i.e. large twin mattress. The loft is accessed by a ladder. There is a light mounted on the wall in the loft, handy for reading at night.

The third bedroom is at the back of the apartment, it also faces the inner courtyard. The beds can be configured as two twin beds or made up together as a dual-king. There is a wall of floor-to-ceiling closets and cupboards. Opposite is a small balcony with planters that opens onto the interior of the block with views of several nice terraces and well-gardened balconies.

The en suite master bathroom is also done in light marble. It has sink with good countertop space, a toilet, bidet and bathtub with a shower sprayer that can hook up high on the wall, no door or shower curtain on tub.

The floors throughout are terracotta tiles. Light housekeeping every other weekday except holidays.

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 6 absolutely loved our stay at the Zegno apartment. The accommodations were clean and tidy (a must for optimal enjoyment). The housekeeper is very kind and delightful. He is thorough in his work. The apartment location could not have been more ideal. We walked around day and night feeling quite safe. The feel of the neighborhood will remain in our memories forever! Accordion serenades outside the window on the street below, violin solos by Bach, it was just beautiful! The Spanish Steps and fountain provided such a fun "living room" to hang out on after the sun went down. The owner left a booklet with such wonderful recommendations for restaurants and tours. Ann and Simone are phenomenal. Ann took us on tours to the major sites and was so great with our children. Simone's pizza making lesson at the pizzeria, and cooking lesson in the apartment couldn't have been more enjoyable! Taxis are nearby and very easy to catch. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to truly enjoy Rome.

Perfect Location, private and open interior layout

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay at the Zegno Apartment, in the heart of Rome. The Hotel d`Inghilterra is right outside the door, and we were able to hail a taxi, grab a light lunch and have a bit of a hotel feel when needed. The location on the corner of Via Condotti in Rome was condusive to shopping, yet off the main road. The open windows let the sounds of music and life into the apartment when desired, and when the windows were closed we could enjoy opera music on the stereo, as selected by the apartment owners. The kitchen is well stocked, the laundry easy to use. The master en-suite was very nice, and the separate bathroom off the laundry area is very private as well. The loft bed is a little small for adults, but as described. I would request extra towels, and having a few groceries and wine picked up in advance of arrival was very nice. Everything was as described by Italy Perfect and the welcoming, and departure a breeze. The large Living and Dining area was the hub for meals, card games, and reading with plenty of space for us and friends that visited. The tram from Piazza del Poppolo north towards the Olympic Stadium, Stadio Olimpico, where football and water polo matches are held, was very handy as well, less touristy and we enjoyed Ponte Milvio. Our favorite restaurant in Ponte Milvio was Gli Specialisti for Carbonara, and Cacio de pepe. Not a touristy area, but very nice shopping and restuarants as well as a small street market on Saturday's outside of Roma Beer Company. They serve an excellent array of beers from around the world, each beer has it's own distictive beer. This a great place to go before a football(soccer)match at the stadium, walking distance. We will return to Rome, with the help of Italy Perfect.

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation in Rome this summer! Our week at the Zegno Apartment was perfect. Edgard is a kind and helpful Houseman. The accommodations were luxurious, clean, and comfortable and provided an "at home" experience after long days of touring the beautiful city. The location is ideal as it is near the Spanish Steps, with grocery and taxi stands available only a short walk away. The building is very secure which added to our sense of safety as a family. We would definitely recommend the Zegno and Pat with Italy Perfect. She was a wonderful resource as we planned our journey! Thanks so much Italy Perfect for a memorable family adventure in Rome!

Great Visit to Rome

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was great! It was in the perfect spot; just two blocks from the Spanish Steps, Cab stations, shopping, and restaurants. There is a fabulous Café/Bakery just down the street; 4 blocks from a grocery store. Three large bedrooms, with plenty of space to unpack. Thanks for a great trip!
