About Steve Beckerdite

Steve and Debbie both are pharmacists. Steve was brought up in Ft. Smith, AR and Debbie is from Monroe, LA. Both now live in Fayetteville, AR which is about 45 minutes from the lake house. Because we live so close we are very attentive to the house. We have been renting our house for 14 years and we know you won't return if you are not treated well. We have many repeat guests each year. We love outdoor activities and family life. Our grandson who is 8 really enjoys the lake house. What a "nature" education for him!

Steve Beckerdite purchased this house in 2001

Why Steve Beckerdite chose Arkansas

After spending many vacations on Beaver Lake we decided to buy this house in 2001 as a weekend get-away and as a vacation rental unit. We looked at many houses in Lost Bridge Village subdivision before we bought. What sold us on this house was the quality. We did not see houses with cedar wood and real Ozark stone as this one does. The construction is very well done by one of the best contractors in our area and you can feel it throughout the house.

The walk to the water from the house is very gentle. Even the elderly can usually handle it. We have a fish cleaning table at the water's edge. There is a charcoal grill and we have decided that the real charcoal rather than propane makes the food taste much better. There is always something to entertain you on Beaver. Walking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing, water sports, sailing, relaxing, relaxing, relaxing, etc.

What makes this house unique

Because our house has Ozark stone fireplaces, you can use it year round. The house has modern amenities; yet, it has a wonderful 'cabin' feel to it. The cedar accents throughout add a warm, cozy feeling to the rooms. There is plenty of glass to take advantage of the views from all sides. Even the living room has a sky light. Beautiful mountain lake with crystal clear waters for whatever your boating/fishing/swimming/sailing activities. This north end of Beaver Lake is the clearest part. The scuba diving club meets on this end because of that. Beaver is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever seen. The water stays so deep blue green and clear. Whitney Mt makes the cliff views just awesome for picture taking. Make sure you tour Whitney Mt Chapel and the grounds at the top where the club house is. If you are looking for a site for a wedding you can't go wrong here year round! Our house has been used many times for a base house of stay for weddings and reunions. Be on the lookout for wildlife because there are lots. The openness of this house makes it very relaxing. We love eating on the deck because of the lake view. As soon as we hit the deck, we feel the stress just melt away! Just love it!

Great home in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home located right on the lake. There is lots of space and we had two families here and it did not seem cramped. The kitchen is well supplied, though maybe a bit too much so. We had to move the island to be able to move around and to use the oven. The dishwasher seemed to have some issues but worked ok. The foosball table on the top floor was a nice touch as was the hot tub. The sauna was locked so we did not have access to it and this was a bit disappointing and we wish we had at least been notified before hand. The instructions to find the lock box made no sense as it was nowhere near where the instructions indicated and it took us ten minutes to find it when we arrived. The bedroom located off of the kitchen has a lighting issue as we were only able to get one of the three lamps and one of the closet lights to work. The downstairs master is beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The small day bed in the back bedroom was terribly uncomfortable the bed gives no support and the people using it wound up placing the mattresses on the floor to sleep. Overall the house is worth the price and beautiful. My only other issue was the fact that due to the beautiful stairs there is basically no privacy or way to escape the noise anywhere. I don't think I realized this when I rented it, though I should have, so just be aware. Thanks for the use of the house it was a lovely long weekend.

Owner's Response: The sauna is not locked. There is a deadbolt with a padlock on it, but the lock is locked with the deadbolt in the open position. There is/was a sign on the door stating this. I will double check to make sure someone hasn't removed the sign. Some of the lights in the bedroom are on a circuit which has a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet on it from the adjoining bathroom. When I went to clean after these guest's departure, I noticed the lights would not come on and when I reset the GFCI the lights worked fine. This GFCI outlet is there for safety reasons. This is the first time I am aware of guests having difficulty finding the lock box. I will review the lock box instructions to make sure they are accurate. The kitchen has sufficient room for 2 people to be in the kitchen while preparing a meal. The island is on rollers and can be rolled to one side if more space is needed. I encourage guests to call or text me if they encounter any problems or issues which arise during their stay. If this guest had contacted me I could have easily resolved most of these issues.

Beautiful lake house with sauna!

  • 5 of 5

It was very easy to communicate with Steve, he always replied right away when we had questions.

We arrived when it was dark outside and finding the driveway + parking was a little tricky but we managed to do it (iPhone flashlight to the rescue!).

The house has a open floor-plan and doesn't give you much privacy but we were only 4-5 people staying so we each got a "room". The bed and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. We used the sauna a couple of times, it was easy to use it and took about 20-30 minutes to heat up.

For people with T-Mobile as a carrier you're not going to have a signal on the property, making this an ideal place to get away :)

Quiet Surroundings- Definate Get Away- Very Nice

  • 5 of 5

Good Communication from owner, but not overboard. We had perfect weather (73 on Jan 31) to be outside on the huge deck most of the time we were there. 1 hr from Eureka Springs, but no large grocery stores close by.(FYI) The home was nice, clean, and as described. Would definitely stay here again, next time I'll bring my Kayaks, very close to the lake.

Great Retreat on the Water!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our group of 8. Each couple had their own beds, and mostly separate rooms. If you like a bunch of privacy, it probably won't be best for you since it is pretty open (As described). The hot tub and sauna were perfect! The kitchen had more than enough utensils, pots/pans, plates, cups, etc. to accommodate all of us. We would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing this nice review. Yes, the hot tub and sauna are particularly nice in the wintertime. What a great way to ring in the new year!
