This one bedroom, 4 bed, lovely 1870s listed 'Belle Epoque' building in a designated preservation area (Le Carre D'Or) forms part of a recent refurbishment of a neoclassical building (inc Lift/Elevator) on the Rue de France.

The accommodation offers one bedroom sleeping two with a further two beds available from the quality sofa bed available in the lounge. Also included is a fully fitted kitchen, marble bathroom (with Power Shower), Air Conditioning, Washer and Wi-Fi (Internet).

Old Nice is only a short 8 minutes walk away with its vibrant markets, exquisite restaurants, and cafe culture. The apartment is also only a short and leisurely 12 minute walk from the central train station making the attractions of Cannes, St Tropez, Eze, Menton, Antibes, and the glamorous Monte Carlo readily accessible.

Our Contact Rosa offers Nicoise cooking courses in her own home, using organic produce bought from the Cours Salya old town market which you purchase in the Morning with her. She will advise on the produce, what's in season and what's not. This market and wine cellar tour, along with nicoise cooking is fantastic and we can arrange this for you. We had a great time, especially sampling our efforts afterwards with several glasses or two, of Rose Bandol and Provencal Wines.

Fantastic location and apartment just as described. Excellent directions from the airport and so easy to find. No car needed as public transport by bus or train is very reasonable. Great winter sun location and the Christmas market was excellent.

Notes:
Situated on the second floor of this lovely bijou conversion on the Rue de France, the apartment is accessed via the street into a classic marble hallway with feature staircase and building lift. Upon reaching the second floor the apartment is found to the side of the building and off the main street yet getting the sun in the afternoon and evening. Upon entering the apartment there is a hallway with solid oak flooring and access to a brand new high quality marble bathroom offering WC, sink, heated towel rail, and shower cubicle incorporating a power shower. At the end of the hall is the main living accommodation comprising: A fully fitted kitchen including fridge, microwave oven, 4 ring cooker and washing machine; Dining area with cast iron tiled table and chairs; A sitting area with a convertible sofa bed (with hotel quality mattress), Cable TV, Internet / wi-fi, DVD player and CD stereo; Wall heaters for the winter and air-conditioning system for the summer.

Cozy, well-located Apt Bord de la Mer

Pack your bags and head for the French Riviera. Located just a couple quick blocks from the Promenade, which runs across the Med Sea coast, from the Old Town and its daily fresh market, and from the lively town square with countless excellent eateries and shopping mall, this location can't be beat. I prepared and ate most meals at the well equipped pad. Check out the butcher (Marked "Rotisiere") two turns to the right across from Care4, a grocery shopping store with most everyday and touristy items (power converter, etc.). Nice is very safe, and I enjoyed late night strolls appreciating the lack of disorderly drunkenness often associated with violence. Nice is remarkably clean, with well placed recycle bins throughout the city as well as bike share, tram, buses, etc. The apt Bord de la Mer lives up to the charm of this wonderful community. Richard and family are exceptional hosts, answering my many questions as this was my first trip to France. The thorough English onboarding instructions were very appreciated, alongside light entertainment amenities like high-speed internet, TV/movies, and guide books in both French and English. My only caveat, which has nothing to do with the listing: Nice was much cooler than I thought. You will need at least light jacket until Summer.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for lovely review and tourist ideas. The mayor of Nice has done a great job investing in the city of Nice by the sea, loads to do, see, eat and drink! The internet that we have is very good and much better and faster than the UK's! The apartment is only a block off the sea-front and without all the noise. The weather in March is warmer than in the UK for the same time, that is why the Victorians used to holiday here in Nice in the Winter months. We hope to see you back soon. Fantastic hosts and lovely place in the Sun!

The apartment is so close to everything. We drove my car and found if we parked in the side street we could easily unload, then park in the secure car parking nearby.

The apartment has everything, the microwave is a combo type thing that cooks both.

The shower was perfect and hot. Big enough for all.

The beds are comfy and the back up service in case of any issues or holiday ideas is fab!

We don't get much holiday time and we really value our time together as a family.

Thank you Richard and family for our lovely stay, we plan to come back in May next year.

Flat with easy access to Nice town

Great flat if arrive via plane or train but not so good for drivers of cars. Absolutely no parking in street or adjacent streets to unload. Absolutely no where to even pull up in front of the apartment.We took up Richards offer of arranging nearby parking but still made unloading difficult.

Second floor with small lift and consisting of hall, bathroom, kitchen/dining/sitting room and bedroom. Couch/sofa is sofa bed

Shopping at supermarkets within easy walk both east and west and both ways have one open all day on Sunday (Carrefour and Spar). Boulangerie opposite gave excellent service and supplies.

Flat comes with washing machine, microwave and hob, so if self catering avoid buying anything that needs a conventional oven.

Parking arranged via parkego- essentially rent someone else's space in private garage. Ok, but hidden cost is a mobile call to France every time you want to go in and out with car.

Bathroom - small shower cubicle (800x800 mm) particularly in view of the fact that the actual shower mechanism intrudes into space. Lots of hot water for two never ran out. Not much in the way of flat surfaces. Only one shelf and the edges of sink. Heating no problems and efficient (February).

TV mostly French, some Italien and about 6 English channels including BBC world service, English edition of France 24 hrs, English Arabic and 2 movie channels (tnt and paramount). Wifi excellent. Neighbours quiet, no disturbances at all. Some noise from streets at weekends if have windows open.

Many sights within walking distance(muse; muse massina, muse beaux arts, old town etc). Transport very good, if walk to Place Massina can buy 10 bus/tram tickets from tram machines with cash or credit card. Can also pay driver on bus (1.5).

All in all an excellent location for Nice except for the problems with unloading car. Also Richard uses PayPal to return security deposit so it will cost you £2.98 for the service.

Our second visit – and we’ve booked again!

We so enjoyed our first stay in this apartment in 2015 that we returned for another fortnight and now wouldn’t look anywhere else in Nice because it is so well positioned and so well appointed!

It is located in the first road back parallel to the Promenade des Anglais, so it's just a 3-minute walk to the sea front. It is a flat, 10/12-minute walk (mainly pedestrianised) to Place Massena in the heart of Nice. The next roads inland parallel to Rue de France are the bus routes in and out of the centre of Nice, so the apartment is superbly positioned for exploring the city and venturing further afield.

The apartment is very well appointed with a comfortable good size bed and very adequate wardrobe space. The shower room is a good size and smartly appointed.

The Kitchen ‘range’ along one wall of the lounge/dining area includes a 4-ring hob, a combo microwave/grill and a large fridge. We ate 'in' every evening, buying lovely meals and vegetables from the local shops and supermarkets, all within 400m.

The windows of this second floor apartment (with lift) look out on a side street. We have not been disturbed by any of the local restaurants or bars, but as this is a city centre location there will be some ‘noises off’ such as the traffic on the rue de France and the nightly refuse collection around 11pm!

The owner, who is English and is based in the UK, is extremely helpful and provides very detailed guidance notes on the apartment itself, the local shops and restaurants and exploring Nice and its surrounding countryside. His local agent speaks excellent English and is available by phone for any queries

We so love this apartment that we’ve already booked our next stay!

We stayed in Richards apartment for the second time in January of this year. We loved the apartment the first time around and could not wait to return. Richard makes every contact count to take the stress away from booking a holiday. The apartment is ideally located and has all the items that you need for a base perfect for exploring Nice. We will return!

Excellent Location and Apartment

We were fortunate to find this wonderful spot. The apartment is comfortable, perfectly located and very secure. The other residents in the building are friendly and one feels as though they are at home. Richard, the host, is kind and will provide you with all the information that you will need to fully enjoy Nice and make your stay from arrival turnkey. I would choose to stay here again and will if I have the privilege to visit Nice again! Cheers!!

Just image yourself sipping a cold glass of Rose wine or drinking a fresh ground French Cafe, relaxing and watching the world go by? In this perfect cosmopolitan near beach front location. This much sort after fantastic central location, near a local french bakery on Nice's famous first old road, the Rue de France, situated in the 'Golden Quarter' (Carre D'or) in Nice. Literally a leisurely 1 minute walk to the sea front & beach. Situated on a quiet side street, but close to all the best restaurants, cafe culture, street entertainers, designer shopping boutiques (like Chanel, Armani, Karen Millen, and many more), famous museums (Matisse etc) and transport links. Le Carré d'Or, or 'Gold district' is the elegant section of the pedestrian zone of central Nice, which begins at the Promenade des Anglais and extends to the tree-lined Boulevard Victor Hugo. Look for street names like Paradis, Alfonse Karr or Longchamp in order to identify this chic quarter of Nice.The 'Gold District' is the Mayfair or Park Avenue of Nice,on the gorgeous French Riviera Coast.

Other Activities: Shopping, Festivals, Art Galleries, Architecture, Canoeing, Wildlife (inc outside Wolf Sanctuary watching), Photography, Restaurants and night-life.

Golf: See Owners Website for excellent Golf Courses nearby on the French Riviera!

Ski: Winter skiing & Snow boarding is easy; Isola 2000 is a large modern resort, very popular, with good lifts and well maintained runs for all abilities. It is 2,000 metres high and usually has good snow from before Xmas to March. It's about 1hr 30 minutes drive from Nice, or there is a ski-bus service from central Nice (10 minute walk from our apartment). Auron, Valberg, Greolieres, and a number of smaller resorts are lower altitude and hence have snow for a shorter time, they are about the same driving time from Nice. Limone in Italy is prettier and about the same size, it is about a 2 hour drive.
