Lovely peaceful location
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home
An extremely well appointed house full of charm and historical interest. We really felt we shared someone's home for the week. All rooms were well equipped to a high standard and lots of attention had been given to detail. The various outdoor terraces and patio garden provided appropriate sun and shade depending on the day. Our sat nav did take us to the front door, however the street is very narrow so beware if your car isn't small - best parking was Piazza Bologna and it's free. The weather was exceptionally hot but the air conditioned bedroom ensured we slept well. I would recommend this house without reservation and very much hope that we will return sometime soon. Thank you.
This year 2017 had one of the hottest summer in Salento since fifteen years. But the builder of this house - 250 years ago, did know, how to cope with this situation. We are glad, that our guests could enjoy the heat ore the coolness of the days in the house in shade and in the sun on the various terraces.
Thank you for your rating and please come again!
An amazing place to stay!
We had very high expectations on the property after looking at the photos. We must say that the reality lived up to our expectations. The house is really nicely decorated and the outdoor spaces with all the plants was a relaxing experience after a day at the beach. In Cesario we especially appreciated the Natale pasticheria and the Small restaurant. The house is close to the main square and there where numerous events during our stay.
So, in general a very pleasant stay. A special thank to Maria who took care of us and also recommended us an excellent restaurant in Nardo.
San Cesario di Lecce is very well situated for day trips all around Puglia and Salento.
We are very happy to hear that you liked our house, San Cesario and Apulia. It is encouraging for us and we'll try to do everything to keep this level of assecement.
A real home from home, an absolute gem!
This home is wonderful, such a lovely place to stay and it really was an absolute pleasure to be in Gisela and Broder's home, we instantly fell in love with the place. Typically southern Italian with courtyards and vaulted ceilings, bright and airy. Yet very very homely, we never wanted to leave. The house is extremely well equipped and very tastefully renovated and decorated. The roof terrace and sun deck were just wonderful, with views over the town. Our contact was Maria, who was so helpful and kind, both her and her husband Rafaello were always there if we needed anything and everything ran very very smoothly in regards to booking, arrival, stay, and leaving. This property is obviously loved and now has two more admirers and is well run and an absolute must stay if you are thinking of visiting this part of Italy. Gisela and Broder, Thank you for opening your home to us, and thanks Maria for taking care of us whilst there. What a truly wonderful experience and home away from home, only with a lot more sunshine than our actual home here in England!
Thank you for this valuation. It is wonderful to read this assessment. It stimulates our efforts and we are glad to know that our guests had a good time in our house in Apulia.
Delightful gourmet cook's paradise.
This is a beautiful and completely supplied, perfectly maintained (a rare find) home which is designed like an old Roman Villa. It has an enclosed front garden and another enclosed garden between the large living room and the bedroom which has an en suite bath. The second bath is one 27 step flight upstairs where you will also find 2 incredible roof terraces with amazing views of the village. The house is just a few kilometers from the city of Lecce proper. The gourmet kitchen has everything needed to prepare the most elaborate meals if you love to cook and it includes a wonderful fireplace. We moved a small sofa from the living room and spent most of our 8 days in the kitchen which is big enough to include a large dining room table and small sofa. Although there is excellent heating in the house, the fireplace kept us warm during an exceptionally cold spell in March 2011. The bed is large and comfortable. There is plenty of hot water and the little town has everything one needs plus there is a large Billa market just 2 or 3 km away. A car is necessary. The house is within a half an hour of most of the attractions of southern Puglia. This is highly recommended, perfectly maintained. A real home away from home with all the comforts. One could easily spend a month here. Parking is easy in the town and people are very friendly and helpful.
The house is situated in a quiet location right in the center of the historic city. In the immediate vicinity of the Cathedral, the Piazza with bars and the Palazzo Ducale. In the small town with the typical Italian flair yet there are many cultural and religöse events and a weekly market, a market hall and all the shops for daily needs. Lecce, one of the cultural and historical highlights of southern Italy can be reached in a few minutes by car, train, bus or bicycle.
The location is an ideal starting point for day trips to the famous waterfront towns Gallipoli, Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca and to the beautiful sandy beaches and picturesque rocky coast with nature reserves. Also interesting are the archaeological sites and the
Greek Salento. The numerous restaurants offer simple but demanding very good Italian food and wines at reasonable prices
Golf: There are in Apulia a number of golf courses. The closest golf course is the Acaya Golf Hotel about 15 km away.
