Idyllic setting in the Swiss Alps!

  • 4 of 5

Tha chalet is charming and offers a peaceful and beautiful respite for visting the Jungfrau Region. Lauterbrunnen is a perfect town for home base as it is quaint and not commercialized. There is a market for groceries and enough options to provide some local dining experiences. From Lauterbrunnen one can hop on a cable car, cog train, or regional train to get anywhere in the region.

It is a short 2 minute walk from the chalet to the Lauterbrunnen bus which runs every 30 minutes to the train station or the cable car to whisk you away to your next adventure. It is also a short walk into town from the house should you want to bypass the bus. Hiking trails in the valley and to Staubbach Falls are easy to access from the chalet.

The chalet is well appointed and smartly decorated with whimsical decor touches to compliment the Swiss Alps theme. It was the perfect size for two couples. Everything you need to cook is available in the kitchen, although you may need to buy a few basics such as paper towels and spices.

The best part of the chalet in our opinion, was the view from the two decks which enabled us to see the mountains and multiple waterfalls. With the weather constantly changing (sun to rain) the view was ever changing as well, but always stunning!

The owners were easy to communicate with via email. They were extremely helpful by offering to meet us at the train upon our initial arrival and return us to the train at the time of departure. That's service! Upon arrival, the owners provided a helpful tour and overview. We enjoyed the gift of chocolate and the beatiful fresh flowers. Such nice touches.

We would have preferred it if the owners had accepted payment with a credit card as that has always been our experience when renting a private home though this site. However they wanted the deposit/ initial payment and final paymet wired directly to their bank. Even though they provided routing numbers and the necessary information, the online bank transfer from the US was very involved and time consuming. It also meant we incurred online fees (which would have been higher had we gone to the bank) which added additional cost to our rental. For this reason only we give the rating 4 stars vs 5 stars.

Overall our experience was wonderful and we would defintely recommend this chalet!

Clean and spacious with all mod cons needed. Very tastefully decorated inside with fantastic views.

  • 5 of 5

Loved every moment of our stay. So much to see and do. Needed another week. The owners were first class and provided us with everything we needed for our Xmas break. The village is a great base for winter and summer holidays. Cars not essential as the public transport is very reliable and on the door step.

Would love to return back one day to explore further.

Fantastic luxurious chalet!

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a fantastic week at this gorgeous chalet which lived up to all our expectations ! The chalet had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. The views were amazing, we never grew tired of them - the snow capped mountains and the Staubbach Waterfall which was floodlit at night. Lauterbrunnen was a great base, very central for some lovely walks and a week was not long enough! Owners very friendly and helpful and always responded promptly to emails prior to our arrival. Would love to return some day!

Perfect Swiss Chalet Experience

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from two weeks in the Berner Oberland, having the luxury of staying in this unit for two full weeks. It was ideal for several reasons: 1) the chalet is beautiful, private, well-appointed, and very comfortable for relaxing and just hanging out---we were a group of four adults and two children. 2) Situation: outstanding views of the Jungfrau and waterfalls are a tremendous bonus, with outdoor lawns, patio area for barbecuing/dining, parking for three vehicles. 3) Location: Lauterbrunnen village is exactly the right size, small enough to be quaint, easy, and fun, but large enough to offer all of the essential shopping needs [restaurants, groceries, ATMs, train station, etc.] Initially, we thought Lauterbrunnen would seem a bit remote, but we were proven wrong as it's an easy 15-minutre drive to Interlaken--best purchase we made was the Jungfrau Regional Transportation Pass which allowed unlimited travel by train, bus, steamer, gondola/trams, etc. -- it may seem expensive, but the convenience of having ready access to all of the mountain locations and locale destinations far exceeds the cost...plus, you can catch the local bus at the bottom of the chalet's driveway! Kids' tickets are only 30 CHF for eight days; we took full advantage of our passes, using them every single day! The owners of this property take great pride is maintaining and keeping it clean it for guests. We had absolutely no problems nor issues with the unit, nor with owner communitication. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Stunning views, Convenient location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) stayed for one week this past summer. This is probably our 10th time renting apartments through Home Away and Chalet Chaeshubl is now our favorite.

The Chalet is charmingly decorated, spotlessly clean and fully equipped. The bedrooms are a good size and the Master Bedroom has a balcony with a spectacular view of Stubach Falls. The waterfall is lit at night and very romantic. The kitchen had everything you would need for cooking meals and there was a barbecue for grilling. The patio was a wonderful place to eat dinner, relax and enjoy the stuffing views of the valley.

The location was perfect for sightseeing throughout the Bernese Oberland area. There was plenty to do right in Lauterbrunnen with 2 of the most famous Waterfalls within walking distance. However, within 20 minutes drive or less you could reach Interlaken or the next valley - Grindelwald. We even found Guyere to be a very convenient (and pretty) hour drive away.

Alessandro was helpful and professional both through emails and once we arrived. Everything from the arrival to the departure went smoothly.

I highly recommend this apartment.

Amazing Chalet, Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Lauterbrunnen was the highlight of our trip to Switzerland, and Chalet "Chaeshubl" was truly perfect. It's beautifully decorated in a modern/rustic style and has every convenience. (Not so with other self-catering apartments we rented on the trip.) No detail was overlooked, from the special matches for the fireplace to the fully-equipped kitchen -- with Raclette machine and fondue pot! My husband, parents, and I enjoyed many nights sitting around the big dining table playing cards, drinking local beer and wine, and listening to music.

There are so many activities to do nearby (Trummelbach Falls and the views from Mannelichen were some of our favorites) and we were so glad we stayed in Lauterbrunnen instead of some of the resort towns higher up like Wengen and Murren. We felt Lauterbrunnen was a perfect base for exploring the area. The valley is simply stunning and it was a joy waking up to see Staubbach Falls from the bedroom window. On the few days when the weather was rainy, we were still able to take some easy walks in the valley and just relax in the chalet. There is a TV and a lot of DVDs but we were too busy having fun to watch them!

Looking at the pictures online ahead of time, we wondered if it could really be as good as it looked. It was better. We will treasure our memories of Chaeshubl always and hope to come back some day! Thank you Alessandro & Franziska!
