Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

Nestled at the base of famous Diamond Head Crater, this family friendly house is only steps away from sunny beaches, Tongs surfing area, the expansive Kapiolani Park, the Waikiki Aquarium, the Honolulu Zoo, the exclusive Outrigger Canoe Club and the Elks Club.

It is in a quiet residential neighborhood located on the gold coast. It is within walking distance of International Waikiki, with its beaches and world class shopping and dining opportunities.

The smoke-free house has been in our family for 35 years, and is filled with original works of art, antiques and sculpture. We welcome guests who want to be close to the nightlife and glamor of Waikiki, but enjoy the quiet serenity of our little neighborhood.

The Diamond Head Dream Home is well equipped with a gourmet kitchen, with all the right utensils and appliances you will need for cooking. There is a downstairs room that has it's own outside entrance, as well as full bathroom. We have an outside hose-off-after-the-beach-shower downstairs, that leads directly into the open glass block shower, and jacuzzi tub. If you forget to bring a book we have an extensive library downstairs. The upstairs lanai's are perfect for eating, sunbathing, or reading on a lazy Hawaiian afternoon. Our home has a formal dining room, ideal for serving gourmet meals, as well as an informal dining area off the kitchen. Upstairs there are yoga mats, and exercise balls. You can do yoga with the peaceful panorama of Diamond Head in the background. Also, upstairs we have a family heirloom, our magnificent grand piano. There is also a keyboard for the musically inclined. Our grand piano has just been lovingly restored by the firm of John Callahan out of Oakland California. One year and many dollars later our piano has been brought back to it's former glory. John brags that we may have the finest sounding piano on the island!

Upstairs is the new master suite, that feels like a complete Hawaiian oasis. This room is ultra private, and has a new outdoor shower where the views are of Diamond Head. Inside is a granite housed soaking tub, a writing desk, a day bed with Bali wood, wall-carvings, an onyx sink and onyx wall sconces. A quite, cool, hide-away, just minutes from Waikiki.

The house is very close to the finish line for the Honolulu Marathon. We are only minutes away from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Punahou Schools.

The house was as advetised and the location was great for us.

  • 4 of 5

The house was exactly as stated in the description. It offered us a quiet retreat away from the crowds of Waikiki, but close enough to enjoy its advantages. It allowed for easy access to travel around Oahu as well as some wonderful eateries close by. The house had a lot of conveniences and was roomy, peaceful and beautiful. The owner was accessible and helpful for any needs that arose.

  • 5 of 5

The Diamond Head Dream home is in the perfect location for a quite vacation with easy access to the beach, exercising in the park, hiking Diamond Head, surfing, or exploring busy Waikiki. Everyone in our group had a fantastic time. We didn't want to leave.

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely family holiday in Amelia's house. She was very helpful with any request, the house has everything you can imagine for a beach holiday and is in an amazing location. Quiet but close enough to Waikiki if you wanted to join the action! My only comment would be it is a very sunn house so if you want to sleep past 6am then you will need eye masks!

Amazing location and property

  • 5 of 5

We had our large group stay here: singles, couples, a family with 2 kids.

There was ample space for everyone to have privacy. The house itself was awesome!

Biggest perks: awesome location: ~50 steps from a surf/kayak beach (no shore to speak of) and 5 minutes away from a beach where you can tan, snorkel, build sandcastles.

We saw numerous fish, and on the last day saw on of 40 remaining Monk Seals who was sunning her pregnant self in the sun at the far side of the beach. My sister and I also saw a sea turtle further out at the same beach (Makalei Beach Park).

Loved the jacuzzi downstairs, the barbeque, multiple kayaks, etc. You could come with a mask, snorkel, and a carryone and there'd be everything you'd need.

If we were to come back with another large group I don't think I'd bother looking anywhere else. Great value!
