About Corinne Payne

I am Canadian and my husband is French. I am a yoga teacher and my husband is an architect and artist. We have lived here for thirty years and finally found the stone house of our dreams to renovate in Opio which has the nicest quality of life of all the surrounding villages. It has the most green zones, therefore is the quietest and most rural yet is 5 minutes from the more built up and lively village of Valbonne and 25 minutes from Cannes. My husband is an architect also and we share the same passion for restoring stones houses in Provence.

Corinne Payne purchased this villa in 2008

Why Corinne Payne chose La Grand-Chile

We chose this property because it is in the most protected area of the region. There is total privacy and calm. And especially for the 200 year oak tree which shades the terrace like no other awning or parasol can do. The position of the pool is ideal for watching over small children swimming. The Provençal landscaped gardens are charming with olive, cypres, citrus, oleanders, palms and many more.

What makes this villa unique

Our property is situated in one of the most peaceful and green settings of Opio and yet only 5 minutes from Valbonne.

We have a south western exposition so sun all day, with the advantage of having a large oak sheltering just the dining/relaxing terrace from sun by lunchtime. On warm summer days this is an idtyllic setting to relax in to read a book, have lunch or just take a break from the full sun and swimming.

We also offer yoga retreats between September and June. If you are interested please contact me.

Absolutely Exquisite Villa, Gardens, Pool & Area!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa La Luciole for a week and found it to be an absolute joy of a place. The main Villa La Luciole and adjoining La Petite Luciole are both stunning- tastefully decorated with lots of exquisite touches everywhere. They are luxurious, clean and very spacious with modern features and you feel instantly at home.

The gardens are just fabulous with plenty of areas to explore and gorgeous flowers and trees everywhere. The pool is a highlight- it is the perfect size and fits in so well with the natural surroundings. The sun shines over it all day with a view of pretty pink and white flowers everywhere. It is a peaceful tranquil area with a backdrop of mountains and stunning scenery.

We had our wedding here in the gardens (a small intimate affair) and could not have been happier to hold it in such a breath-taking place. The magnificent oak tree in the middle of the garden provides a welcome amount of shade all day so there is a perfect balance of sunshine and shade. The whole setting feels very private so you instantly feel relaxed, calm and appreciative of the whole area. From the morning swims in the pool to the al fresco dinners and vino in the early evening as the sun sets, we have so many wonderful memories that we will cherish from our stay. Corinne & Philippe, the owners are such lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome.

We will never forget our incredible stay and wedding at this spectacular place!!

Stunning! Could not be better!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa La Luciole for 4 weeks in July-August 2011 and did not want to leave this heaven. We could not understand how the owners managed to created this atmosphere, but the villa really felt like our own beautifull house that we absolutely loved. Gorgeously decorated! We would not want to change anything at all. Stunning garden, ideal for full relaxation. Extremely convenient when travelling with friends as for the money paid you get not one but two houses, which means what separate families can enjoy a holiday together yet having their own private space. This was the best holiday we had in many years. Thank you very much, Phillipe and Corrine, for sharing your loved house with us!!!

Absolute Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful and private retreat with spectacular vistas! Lovely terrace and generous sized swimming pool. The villa is beautifully furnished and is well designed to allow maximum privacy. Our elderly parents who have a long history of visiting the South of France said it was the most memorable stay they've experienced.

The location is fantastic! We were 5 minutes from Opio, 10 minutes from Valbonne, 15 minutes from Grasse, only 30 minutes from Cannes and 45 minutes from Monaco.

To answer your question "YES, we loved it! YES, we plan to go back!"

The best La Provence has to offer !

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for the most wonderful vacation.

La Luciole was the ideal place to get away and to indulge in total relaxation. We also loved going to the local market in Valbonne, out for drinks in Cannes or Nice and we even made it to St.Tropez for the day !

We particularly enjoyed the spacious landscaped garden which a lot of it is lawn, ideal for the kids to run around and play on while we relaxed by the pool or read on the terrace, under the enormous oak tree that provides shade and a cool breeze on a hot day.

We spent plenty of time playing badminton together which was lots of fun !

There are also some amazing walks to do in the area with breath taking views over both the Alps and the Mediterranean sea. Not to mention the little French restaurants serving the best French cuisine, our favourite being the nearby "Clos St Pierre".

We found the interior of the house is decorated with great taste which made our stay all the more memorable and pleasant as we were able to take great family pictures especially in the house and in the olive grove.

Again, thank you very much and we are really hoping to come back next summer as we feel there is so much more to discover in the area !

Best regards,

Mikaela and family

Chocolate dipped in mint tea under the majestic oak tree,

Its splendid foliage whispering a soft melody

As we chat and laugh feeling totally carefree

In a magical setting of genuine luxury.

Located in the rolling hills of provence between Cannes and Nice, Opio is a charming provençal village. Approximately 20 minutes from Cannes and Nice, it is 5 minutes from Valbonne. About 1 hour from Monaco and Italy on the spectacular coast road, the Moyenne Corniche, made famous in the James Bond movies will lead you to the casinos. The area offers limitless sightseeing and interest, and was home to many artists from Renoir to Picasso. La Luciole is also home to a local French painter Philippe Metaireau. On the coast, choose from miles of beaches, relax in one of the seaside cafes/restaurants, or have fun shopping in Cannes or Nice. For walkers and lovers of nature, the mountain scenery, and medieval villages are delightful. Fabulous restaurants can be found in all the small villages nearby. A 5 minute drive from the house will take you to Le Clos St.Pierre one of the best restaurants in the area which has a Michelin star. Also 5 minutes away is the Golf de la Begude, one of the nicest in the area. La Luciole is within walking distance of a small commercial centre where you will find everything you need.
