The front of the property has suburb River views over the River Thames, there are no passing cars, no fumes, no boy racers, etc., just tranquil tidal waters teaming with fish and wildlife. The occasional passing ship or cruise liner slowly sails by, as does the River Shuttle bus on route every 15 minutes East to Greenwich, or Westminster up river. Catch this at Canary Wharf Pier.
The other side of the property has green lawns in a residential Private Square filled with mature rose bushes, many trees and seating, affording the most charming and private of holiday locations. Squirrels and the neighbourhood cat will keep you company.

These two bedrooms on this level, one has a river view and one has a view of the private square gardens. All very quiet even though you are nearby the hustle and bustle of town. Located in Zone 2 of Central London's Underground Network, there's lots to do and see.
Getting around Town: With so much to see, we have excellent transport arrangements.
Traveling around is a breeze, literally. The River Bus operates during commuter hours and there's also the Central London Underground, particularly the Jubilee Line. So one can be wisked off to pastures new, in minutes.
Nearby there’s Canary Wharf, Greenwich, The Tower of London and Tower Bridge. It's the cheapest tube fare for town and very easy to reach everywhere in town from one of 3 local train stations, all part of the Central London Underground Network. It all depends on which direction of town you wish to travel to.
Also, there are Red London Buses, (Pick up point is right outside the square) Black London taxies, or the River bus which picks up from Canary Wharf Pier every 15 minutes. This is my favourite method.Travel up river to Westminster Pier, stopping at Tower Bridge Pier, then the Embankment (for the London Eye) or down river to Greenwich.(Royal Parks and Museums) The 3 local tube stations are 'South Quay' and 'Crossharbour' or 'Canary Wharf' on either the DLR Line or the Jubilee Line. both part of the Central London Underground Network.
I must not forget our local “Boris Bikes”, so named after our flamboyant Major of London. It was his initiative to install these bike docks all over town, possibly every half mile you will find one. Just £1 buys you an hour’s bike travel. The first half hour is free, so if you are smart you could cycle for 25 minutes, park the bike, wait 6 minutes and then take another bike for the next phase of your journey. 30 minutes covers a lot of ground in busy London streets. Cars are required to purchase a ticket to cover the congestion charge of £8.50 per day. Consequently, there are less cars in town. There are clearly defined cycle lanes everywhere and its very popular.
We can accept bookings onlin., by credit card, . Also, by English cheque or bank transfer.
To hold the dates you require, we take a £200 deposit and then the balance becomes due 2 months before your arrival. We supply our guests with a confirmation of booking document which confirms all the aspects of the booking and the accommodation. Nearer the time of arrival we supply our guests with general directions from each of London’s airports and main hub train stations.
We hope you will get in touch, a quotation for your stay is quick and we would love to hear from you.
Hello everyone, having worked in London from a young age, I grew accustomed to travelling in and around London and after a few years I chose to settle as a single business woman in this vibrant area of London. They were very exciting times with marbled skyscrapers popping up everywhere and new restaurants to try and new transport links. I drove into town each day and found that this was a convenient location with a wow factor of the river frontage. With off street private parking at the house and the area full of local attractions, this was indeed a find.
Then I met my Partner, he lived in the Midlands of England, so I duly moved. However, not wishing to part with this lovely house the idea came to me to rent for short periods. Thus, I would have a foot in the area when I wished to visit. I have family in the area and so this arrangement has proved to be very beneficial to all, sharing the wonderful views and tranquil waters with my new and returning guests.Check out the Special rates apply for same month bookings, where dates are still free.
Ms. Christine James purchased this house in 1997
This house struck me as soon as I cast eyes on it. I was not looking to move but immediately had to buy it. It has been a very happy place to live and now my guests can enjoy the ever changing river views and wildlife.
My local housekeeper looks after it for me and we both work hard to ensure our guests are made as comfortable as possible.
The business has blossomed over time, so after a time we found we were turning away guests, so we purchased another property nearby, this time a two bed, two bath apartment which we also gained a 4* certificate for the comfort and self catering facilities.
The English Tourist Council, inspect each property every year and grade again. 4* certificate every time for each property. They also check that the current regulations are being adhered to and insurance is in place and that everything is as it should be for the Travel Industry.
I have been a member of their association for 10 years now. You will find our properties listed in their web pages on their site www.visitengland.com, through our 10 year association with them.
The unique benefits for this house are: Superb River views; local transport connections are excellent; local tourist attractions; good restaurants; quiet private location; quiet streets away from the main traffic areas; good bus service; local London Theatres; Royal London markets. Private off street Parking.
More recently, we now have the '02 Orena' for live concerts; the New 'Olympic Stadiums' and the supporting new shopping centre Westfield, at Stratford; not forgetting the new Bike Hire Service from outside the private square. Just £1 per half hour to travel across town and park the bike up somehwere else in another docking station.
Please visit our dedicated web site where we have posted lots of links to the main areas and attractions. www.vacationsinlondon.com I have seen many sights on the river, a beached Whale, a mother and daughter Dolphin lost, they swam by and ended up at Westminster Pier; the Queens Jubilee last year, all the magnificent tall ships sailed by to moor at the end of each day in Canary Wharf locks.
We have many returning guests each year and some of their reviews can be viewed here and on our own web site, noted above.
I hope to hear from you soon.
(Note: We offer 10% discount off the weekly rate for same month bookings! )
regards Christine James
Thank you for renting this wonderful townhouse to the four of us for these last two weeks. We loved London, saw it to pieces, but what we will miss most is your lovely house and the River Thames.
Very nice and clean house, owner is helpful and lots of info about london. Perfect view from lounge and balcony, we even saw a seal swimming by. Easy walk to DLR and Tube. It felt safe to park our car in the private square and there is no traffic in front of the house. Kitchen is well equipped for home cookin, but also enough restaurants around. Close to a huge Asda supermarket. Mobile airco/fans were helpful. Nice to have two bathrooms, and three large sleeping rooms. Space enough for 5. We had a great time!
House was exactly as described and portrayed in the photos. Very clean and well maintained. In fact owner came while we were renting to take measurements for new carpeting in parts of the townhouse.
Viewing the Thames every morning while drinking our coffee was a real treat. Unwinding on the upper balcony with a glass of wine after a long day of sightseeing was the perfect way to end the day. Kitchen well equipped to cook meals or eat take out. Not many traditional English pubs nearby, as we had hoped, but we usually stayed in London until late so lots of food choices there. If you have mobility issues this house is not for you as lots of stairs. Great for working off the pub visits!
Would definitely recommend this townhouse but for us we would stay in a location slightly closer to city centre as this area is very modern and not what we had hoped for in the quaintness we associated with old London.
Thank you for sharing your home with us as we have made lots of memories during our stay in London.
Our holiday in london was an amazing experience which was made all the more enjoyable by the lovely property we stayed at. The riverside is just what you need whether your a big family or a couple. It has everything you need for a week away to be comfortable but it's the views what make it magical. There is a Tesco a minutes walk and a further five mins is the DLR line. It took us a few days to get used to the tube but we are such country bumpkins . The tube is so fast it's the only way to see everything(if that's your plan).loved the balcony on the top floor of the flat, just what we needed as it was very hot during our stay,we're used to drizzle in manchester LOL. The two local friendly cats are adorable and I confess to having a morning routine of feeding them, couldn't help it. If you want a relaxing and affordable place to stay in london I would definitely recommend the riverside,oh and Christine sorry we didn't write in the guest book.wasn't intentional,we're a forgetful bunch.xx
We enjoyed our stay and found the apartment welcoming and had plenty of room. The stove was more challenging than expected to light. The washing machine doesn't dry your clothes as thoroughly as expected of North American dedicated clothes dryers. Plan to air dry a bit. The DLR and underground were a bit farther than expected but not prohibitively far. Owner support and responsiveness was excellent. Even came with neighbor hood outdoor cats to entertain kids.
Well, sitting on the balcony, watching the boats and the ducks was lovely and very meditative.
So peaceful but yet so near the bustling citylife of Canary Wharf with its beautiful skyline delighfully watchable from the windows in the opposite direction.
Don't pull the blinds down at night - to watch all the magic lights and colours is a spectacular experience!
Nice neighbourhood with nice people, 5 minutes by foot to the local Tesco and 15 minutes to the centre of Canary Wharf, where you easily takes the great and fast Jubilee Line (which has stops at for example London Bridge, Waterloo and Westminster) to the inner city of London. Great eating out at Canary Wharf - we found a nice and a bit non-mainstreamish mexican restaurant named Wahaca near Canada Square. Great food and interior!
Riverside Apartment feels very homely and spacious (we wer two adults and three teenagers) and is well maintained and clean, with good beds and cosy sofas. A big plus to the parking spot! (And the cute and funny cats outside!)
The owner, Christine, was very nice and helpful although we did not need any help since everything worked perfect and the description was very accurate!
Great stay and we all hope to come back! Thank you, Christine and Martha!
We stayed in the apartment for 28 days. It was a wonderful base for us to visit London. Restaurants and shopping were close by and transportation into the heart of London was easy. The place was clean and well appointed and Ms. James was extremely attentive to our needs. The freezer expired close to the end of the stay and Ms. James was very quick to replace it. Towels and sheets were changed weekly and light housekeeping performed. The view of the Thames was a real attribute. The only drawback were the two apparently abandoned boat hulks which were anchored directly in front of the property. However, even these detracted only marginally as we relaxed with a glass of wine at the end of a long day sight seeing and watched ships and boats of all types travel along the river through the large picture window. It was a great stay and we recommend this property highly.
This superb townhouse, located in a private tranquil leafy square, is situated in probably London most historic area, London Docklands. Close to many Historic places including 16th Century Smugglers Inns, The Excel Exhibition Centre; The 02 Arena Concert Venue; The new Olympic Stadiums;
Southwark Cathedral, St. Paul’s Cathredral, Tower
Bridge, The Tower of London; The Royal Parks and London Mseums and much more.

A romantic hideaway on the River for honeymooners; nearby the famous Billingsgate Fish Market; Bermondsey Antique and food markets; "The O2 Arena" concert venue which is in view from the house across the River. This house is a special location with spectacular river views of passing ships, cruisers, the wildlife and the occasional lost dolphin or whale! Just sit on the balcony overlooking the Thames with a glass of something to sip and relax, just let those cares drift away. Fine restaurants are in easy walking distance from the house as are the tube stations and shops, so leave the car behind.
