Spanish style established 2 bedroom ground floor apartment within secured complex, situated in a traditional Spanish resort. A small knowledge of the Spanish language is advised but the locals are only too pleased to help if you are willing to try. The apartment is overlooking a large pool with a children's section close by. A small play area is within the confined gated grounds so ideal for families. A poolside bar offering drinks, snacks, tapas and pre ordered meals is open during the summer months creating a friendly hustle and bustle of a holiday complex while still restful. A quiet, tranquil atmosphere is had outside of this period. A large Sunday market is located outside the complex which sells a multitude of goods. Although close it is not heard within the apartment and immediate enclosed area. The market operates all through the year and is a must for all bargain hunters. The nearest beach is just 5 to 7 min walk with other beaches close by.
The apartment is suitable for families: Couples and elderly people as it is located on the ground floor. The apartment is within secure grounds, with access through a security gate. Property has two double bedrooms, living/dining room. A fully equipped, newly installed (2008) kitchen with utility area housing washing machine etc. The bathroom has also had an update with a new walk in shower replacing the old bath. Open plan lounge/diner area includes sofa bed. Large patio area, with table, chairs and sun lounger’s. The patio has a large awning for shade. It faces straight onto the pool. It is a quite location most of the year except July and August when a poolside bar opens for tapas, snacks, pre-ordered meals and refreshments. Not far from local amenities including, restaurants, supermarket and internet cafe. Close to popular large Sunday market. Only 5 minutes to nearest sandy beach with additional beaches only a few minutes further.

We stayed at the apartment for 11 nights from 29 July and from the moment we arrived felt immediately at home. The apartment is extremely well located, close to numerous bars, restaurants and marina and beach. Importantly, with 2 young children the gated community and close proximity of swimming pool to the apartment was very comforting knowing the children would have a fun filled and safe holiday.
The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, and comfortable and had everything we needed for our break. A wide selection of DVD's also came in handy.
With regard to the location itself, it had everything we needed. The numerous restaurants are of good quality and provide good food at reasonable prices and all pay special attention to the children.
Overall, we had a great holiday, so much so that we have booked for next year, albeit for 2 weeks!
We had a wonderful family holiday in the apartment with our 16 month old daughter. The 'gated' private patio area at the front of the apartment was perfect for safe play and the shade can be lowered as desired. It was also a good spot for relaxed home-cooked meals and sunbathing on the loungers (no need to fight for one!!). Being so close to the big, well-maintained pool was ideal. Literally outside the door. We bought tasty plates of tappas from the pool bar when we didnt fancy cooking, they always gave a smile. The other people in the apartment complex were friendly and our daughter played with other babies in the safe and large baby pool plus slide / seesaw around the back. We went in September when it was blissfully quiet. We explored the many sandy beaches, the nearest being only a 5-10 min walk, more secluded ones just 15-20 mins walk. All had showers to clean off etc. Mazarron has plenty of restaurants for all pockets, babies welcome. Seafood is great value. In addition to trying regional Spanish food, you will find Italian, French and our favourite Chinese buffet. Pick fresh meat and fish (including scallops) and they will cook it up in front of you, as much as you like. The choice is impressive and excellent value at 9 euros per head. On Sunday theres a big market to wonder around for a couple of hours. Dunk the fresh local donut fingers into hot chocolate or coffee. Buy a spit roast chicken to take back for lunch and choose salads / fruit from the various stands. Owners Mark and Ellen, were extremely helpful - they provided a welcome pack and arranged for us to be met by Brian at Murcia airport. He dropped us off at the apartment which was stocked with, soap, loo rolls, tea, milk and water. He even offered to get other essentials if we needed. The supermarket is 5 mins walk, we used the shopping trolley in the apartment to stock up. The place was spotless and had a travel cot / hair dryer / all required items in the kitchen etc. The fans on ceilings in every room kept the place nice and cool. The small complex is kept clean and tidy and the pool serviced every day. We would certainly recommend to other families looking for a charming, friendly and fun place to stay :)
We visited this apartment in june/ july as a family of 6. 2 adults and 4 children age 9,7,4 and 2 years. The apartment was in a great location for all the local shops , main supermarket about 10 minute walk. The pool was great and quite, ideal for younger kids as the water is very shallow in the small pool. The pool area was quiet in the week and a bit busy at the weekend. Looking forward to re booking for next year.

Had a lovely time, the apartment is in a great location. Thougt the restaurants were excellent and really enjoyed the beach.. (even though we were stuck in the sand and needed to be rescued!!) I would love to come back again some time.
Het gelijkvloers appartement aan het zwembad bijna in het centrum van Puerto de Mazzaron is goed gelegen : op wandelafstand winkels , restaurants en een paar stranden. De urbanisatie complex heeft bijna uitsluitend Spaanse families.
Vier personen is wel het maximum voor dit verblijf, 6 personen in geval van nood (want zo groot is het nu ook weer niet).
Positief aan dit appartement is dat het vlakbij het zwembad en de snackbar (met typische Spaanse gerechtjes , raciones, tapas en drinken aan democratische prijzen) van het urbanisatie complex (met zo'n 40 appartementen) is gelegen. Het verblijf was ook zeer netjes bij aankomst en er zijn heel veel handdoeken aanwezig !
Er was een probleempje met de thermostaat van de douche , maar dit is onmiddellijk gerepareerd (bedankt!).
Negatief vonden we dat er geen airco aanwezig was , enkel plafon ventilators (die niet kunnen koelen , alleen wat lucht laten wervelen). Dus in de zomer (Costa Calida) is het 's nachts warm in het verblijf. Met de ramen open en schutters gesloten voor en achter konden we nog steeds niet slapen. Reden : aan de voorkant is de snackbar die tot 02h00 open is met luid sprekende mensen. Aan de achterkant is een stenen speelveldje met luid spelende kinderen tot zo'n 02h00 . Je bent in Spanje ... Als er nu een airco was , kon je de ramen sluiten en was het geluid veel minder. Nu moesten we elke dag wachten totdat de Spanjaarden gingen slapen. Dit probleem zal alleen maar zijn in het hoogseizoen (eind juli - augustus) , net wanneer wij er waren. PS : voor 11h00 zie je praktisch wel geen Spanjaard...).
Voor de rest : we gingen vaak naar het strand van Bolnuevo (rustiger, groter en geen parkeer problemen). Cartagena , Aguilas en Murcia zeker een bezoek waard (daguitstap). Vergeet ook zeker niet de mijnen van Mazzaron (vooral de Noord mijn), de dorpjes Mazzaron , La Azohia , .. en de Sierras met goede hiking paden . Elke zondag is het markt om de hoek. Dus in WE dan wel mogelijk parkeerproblemen van zaterdag tot zondagnamiddag.
Kortom een goed appartement (5 sterren buiten het seizoen) en uiteindelijk is 2 weken vakantie bijna te weinig.
Puerto de Mazarron is an old Spanish town served by Murcia (St Javier), Alicante and Almeria Airports 40, 90 and 100 minutes away respectively (new toll road making airports even closer). The area has numerous good beaches to choose from with the closest just over 5 min away. You can stroll along the Paseo and enjoy the view or try all the different restaurants in and around the town. You can eat somewhere different every night with a choice of different cuisines. The new Marina enhances the area and is looking very impressive with some fabulous moorings. There is a variety of sports to do including go carting and fishing. There are various good golf courses nearby and it is only 35 minutes by car to the La Manga Golf Resort. Most of the restaurants stay open very late so you can find a spot and relax for the evening with only a short walk back to the apartment. If you want a complete break with all that Spain has to offer you should look no further.
Other Activities: canoeing, pedaloes, indoor bowling & games, go carting
Golf: There are many golfing areas within 15 minutes drive from the property. Polarus World is just 20 minutes away. La Manga Club is 45 minutes away. Details for these golf resorts and others can be obtained from us by request.
Ski: We are situated approximately 3.30 hours from Sierra Nevada Mountains, near Granada. Resort Height:
Sierra Nevada, is one of the highest resorts in Europe, boasting an excellent snow record. Adventurous intermediate skiers are treated to spectacular views from the top of the Veleta across to the Mediterranean and the mountains of Morocco. Despite the resort’s southern situation, its high altitude and nearly 400 snow canons ensure good snow cover all winter. Close to the city of Granada with the amazing Alhambra Palace, the resort boasts Spanish influenced night life, with a cosmopolitan and friendly atmosphere.
If you fancy a winter break without the expense of a full ski holiday try out a day trip from our apartment to the slopes. If you set off early enough you can get a full days ski.
