About Sarah or Simon Ellis
We live in Cambridge and have two school age children who keep us busy! We love to travel and have many friends and family around the world but Barbados always remains in our hearts as the best place in the world.
Sarah or Simon Ellis purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Sarah or Simon Ellis chose Mullins
Barbados was the first place we visited when Simon actually managed to comletely switch off and relax. We love the people and the island and caught the bug so continued to return. Once we had our own family we decided it would be lovely and special to have a home from home in which the children felt safe and comfortable and we knew we could start relaxing straight away. This home is very special to us as it is very family orientated with it own large garden and pool and only a short walk to the beach and all its amenities. We knew this would appeal to others so decided to share it and we hope you agree.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is located in a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of the main west coast road but close enough to walk to one of the best beaches on the island, Mullins and only a mile from the upcoming Speightstown with all its bars and restaurants. A car is not necessary as there is an excellent bus service a few minutes walk away which can transport you up and down the West Coast.

One of Barbados’s hidden gems.
Very comfortable and homely. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of utensils, plates and glasses.
Very big pool and private grounds in tranquil setting.
Great house for any occasion. Can’t recommend this property highly enough. One of Barbados's hidden gems!
I stayed in Simon & Sarah’s garden apartment in December, just before Christmas. I couldn’t have had a better time; when I arrived, the fridge was stored with a couple of welcome beers from the local Banks Brewery and the bookcase had a variety of novels and non-fiction to take in by the pool, or the decking immediately outside the front door. This kept me happily occupied during the early mornings that I’d experience due to the time difference with the UK. Guides to shops, restaurants and other miscellaneous activities are conspicuously placed on the table so it’s easy to make plans. There’s a strong WiFi connection aswell, though I tried to stay away from emails and the like while in such a glorious country!
I slept perfectly in a very comfortable bed - no mosquitoes made it through the windows and I could regulate temperature easily - important on humid nights! The kitchen is equipped for any kind of meal you wish to cook, and above all the Mullins Bay House staff are wonderful; both efficient and discreet yet prepared to stop to get to know the guests; a great way to engage with the local community while enjoying your holiday. Simon & Sarah have been coming to Barbados for years; they have a profound understanding of the island’s character and culture and did everything to ensure maximum satisfaction during my stay. Highly recommended!
Typical bajan old school cottage
The garden is lovely and lush green with comfy sun loungers. There is a good size pool but it needs clearing of leaves - I didn't see that happen during our stay. The cottage is clean and well equipped with air con in bedrooms. The kitchen/living room doesn't have air con - and it really needs it for the evening as to keep room cool you need to leave door open which lets Mosquitos in (and there were more here than other places we visited during our stay this year). The cottage is typical old bajan style so if you want modern facilities then it's not for you. Having said all this it's in a great location for beach and is close to bus route to get around the west coast of the island.
Beautiful property in need of some TLC!
My husband and I just returned from a two week stay at the garden apartment at Mullins Bay House. It's a very low key family oriented venue with a great location close to beach and restaurants. Andrew and Juanita were very accommodating.
Three separate units share the property, so there is little privacy. The first week two families stayed in the large house next to us. They were lovely and friendly, but four loud children were swimming in the pool beginning at 7 am every day. What a wake up call. Thank god we love kids! Felt like intruding on their vacation using the pool. Situation would be best if a large group rented all three units!
The property itself is in need of updates and maintenance. Amenities are bare bones which is difficult when traveling from abroad. We had to buy beach chairs, umbrella, and a cooler. Access to laundry facilities were difficult because the staff was using it most of the day and it was locked at night. Internet was down for a week and a half and we had to spend $ purchasing an international plan.
With a few tweaks, some updates and decorating, this property could be beautiful.
Barbados is paradise! We traveled north, south, east and west and swam at several beaches... one more gorgeous than the other! The people are friendly and willing to help. Restaurants were delicious. All in all, a great vacation.
A tranquil haven in paradise
The Garden Apartment is lovely, spacious and light with the most wonderful sitting area outside in a corner of the beautiful garden. Although so close to Mullins Beach it is a calm and peaceful spot so you get the best of both. You are only a short distance from good shops and some of the best restaurants in Barbados. Simon & Sarah are easy to deal with and provide copious information before you travel. The delightful Andrew and Oneta looked after us during our stay, we had everything we needed. We will definitely go back, it was perfect.
Delightful, clean, excellently maintained quiet and situated in lovely surroundings
If we visit Barbados again this is where we will stay. Close to the beach and tucked away in a quiet spot the apt/house has a lovely garden and pool and made it really easy to enjoy every moment of our stay. The complex is well maintained and the staff are always happy to help. Monkeys birds and other lovely creatures abound adding to the pure joy of 'being on holiday'
