Pino (Italian) and Caroline (English) met in Yorkshire, married and have 3 children. For 20 years they have been running walking tours (Caspin Journeys) and managing their rental apartments at Molino di Bordone, historic Tuscan farmhouse and flour mill.
Caroline Nobile purchased this apartment in 1995
When we stood in the driveway we knew it was right for us. At the time it was still a ruin and had been empty for over 30 years ! But we were drawn by the peacefulness of the place. There were no roads nearby making it safe for the children to play freely.
We love the 360 degree views of wooded hills, vineyards, olive groves, lake and stream running through. At the house there is the lovely big swimming pool with loungers and grassy areas for sunbathing and reading. For families with children there are soccer & volley ball nets, a croquet lawn, swings and climbing frame, bikes of various sizes and a trampoline, used not just for jumping but also star gazing at night - we have no light pollution. We are walking distance (1km) from 2 coffee bars, food market, 2 restaurants, pizzeria, beauty salon, hairdressers, hardware store, clothing shop. We are only minutes from the historic town of Cortona and yet immersed in tranquility. you can walk, run or bike for miles and not need to touch the asphalt.
Dear Caroline and Pino,
Our 2 1/2 week visit at Il Molino far exceded our expectations.
Your photos and our photos could never do it justice because it is impossible to put it 'all together.' We were looking forward to meeting you, Caroline, but Pino's mother was lovely and Pino's tips were great when he got back.
Let us know if it is still possible to get some of you olive oil.
All in all, 5 stars out of 5!
We'd love to stay again.

Molino di Bordone was a lovely Tuscan farmyard tucked away in the countryside. The property was lovely and Pino and Caroline were excellent hosts. We loved exploring the property and our 4-year old son especially enjoyed the trampoline and playing with the dogs. The property was located close to Cortona, so we could easily get into town if we wanted to. We definitely recommend this property to others.
My wife and I were very pleased with the accomodations during our brief 3 night stay at Il Molinello. From being pleasantly greeted upon arrival to the shared dinner at a local pizza shop to the helpful advice on "best places" to visit in the region to the genuine goodbyes before our departure. The property is beautifully surrounded by mountains and although our stay was during the beginning of spring (pre-bloom) it was enjoyable to witness a few of the flowers on the property begin to bud and come alive. Our stay here was the last leg of our honeymoon. Our honeymoon consisted of 3 nights in Venice, 3 nights in Florence and 3 nights here. Of the 3 places that we stayed we both agreed that Il Molinello was our favorite. We had wished we would have booked longer at this rental property. It was peaceful and we were able to relax and wind down before departing back home. Thank you Pino and Caroline for being such great hosts and for helping to make our stay reminiscent of home sweet home!

If we move to Italy, it will be here! This is an absolutely lovely, tranquil setting in the Tuscan countryside. Caroline and Pino, our hosts, were warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful. We were enthusiastically greeted by the entire family. After Pino took our luggage into the lovely apartment, we were treated a mid-afternoon espresso on the terrace. Our rooms were more than adequate accommodating two old ladies with a lot of luggage. We felt quite at home and comfortable relaxing in the living area as we watched CNN news about the Icelandic ash cloud. The kitchen was well appointed and directions for appliances were readily available. The beds were comfortable and storage space was plenty. We appreciated the washing machine, and even more the fact that Caroline brought in our wash from out of the rain when we were off touring for the day. Both Caroline and Pino were very helpful with directions and suggestions of lessor known places to visit in the Tuscan countryside. We also appreciated their concern and flexibility that our travel plans might change due to the Icelandic Ash Cloud. Everything that is written about the accommodations and amenities for Il Molinello is most accurate. We appreciated the ease of payment with checks written on US banks. If we didn't have to come home, we would still be there! We hope to return again!
My friend recommended this lovely farmhouse to us and I'm glad she did. Our stay was wonderful. Carolyn and Pino (owners) are delightful. They made us feel welcome and provided us with lots of information on activities, attractions, and restaurants. We stayed in the II Molinello. The room was perfect, bigger than we expected. The room had everything we needed, we cooked at least one meal each day. The farmhouse grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We felt so comfortable during our stay. We're sure to go back with our kids soon. I recommend you rent a car, getting lost in Tuscany was a wonderful adventure, we ran into beautiful towns and friendly people.
This was our first trip to Italy (we are a fifty-something married couple). It was recommended by a friend. This is the perfect place to either relax and stay put OR to take day trips to every hilltown in Tuscany & Umbria. A great central location for both. We couldn't decide which we preferred! Turned out our favorite hilltown was nearby Cortona. Our experience was beyond our expectations, the farmhouse is so lovely and inviting, spotlessly clean, well furnished, the pool is wonderful, and the owners treat you like special guests. We originally scheduled a week's stay and ended up staying an extra 3 days! The pictures do not even begin to capture this breathtaking place. We hope all our of friends can eventually find their way to this incredible place.
This was my 2nd year visiting Il Molino di Bordone. I fell in love with the setting and villa in 2007 so I decided it would be the perfect venue for my extended family to visit. All 14 members of my family drove up to the villa at 9pm on a hot balmy Tuscan night. We were greeted by the warm and friendly Caroline and Pino with drinks and canapés on the terrace. Immediately everyone was taken by the beautiful setting, the surrounding hills, the stunning architecture and the warm smiles of our hosts. We hired the entire complex for two weeks which afforded the perfect level of privacy for each family group but also provided many facilities for the entire group to enjoy. The latest accommodation nick named “the pig sty is world class. It is a little (actually quite large!) luxury boutique hotel in the Tuscan hills. Each day we met for breakfast on the terrace before lounging later by the beautiful pool. Each night was a fun filled adventure with BBQ's in the garden, kids playing on the trampoline, walking through the extensive sun-flower fields, feeding the donkey or splashing in the pool. One of the highlights of our holiday was the evening Luca the chef came to visit for our cookery course. We had three fabulous hours making our own pasta, watching Luca at work. Finally at 8.30pm we sat down to dinner on the beautiful outdoor terrace where Luca served the entire family. This is an evening not to miss. The villas are beautiful with every facility you could require or ever imagine. The setting is spectacular! Caroline and Pino are warm, welcoming and fantastic at offering good advice. The location is perfect for touring beautiful Tuscany. The surrounding towns are picture postcard. Don't miss Cortona, Pienza or Montalcino. On our last evening we were lucky enough to watch the Bolshoi Ballet perform in the Main Square of Cortona as we ate dinner in a local restaurant. A night we will never forget. This is the perfect location for any size group. All 14 of my family left Tuscany with a sad heart. We had an amazing holiday which was due largely to the fabulous company but also to the perfect setting and hosts. We will all definitely return to a place which has a special place in our hearts.
Nearby amenities: In our village of Montanare-Pergo, just 10 minutes walk from the house, there is a delightful cafe with outdoor seating, pizzeria, restaurants, local food-market and post office. Explore the Etruscan walled, medieval hill town of Cortona, a hidden gem perched majestically on the sun-drenched slopes of Monte Egidio. As you walk around this ancient and noble town you cannot help but sense the vibrations of more than 2500 centuries of history. Cortona inspired Francis Mayes to write her best-seller ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’. There is a delightful selection of street cafes, restaurants, theatre, markets & shops to enjoy and the town hosts many events during the year:- outdoor concerts, musical & opera (June, July, August); ‘Giostra del Archidado’ (jousting - May);; Antiques' Fair (September); the Diocesan and Etruscan museums are world renowned. Located on the border of both Tuscany and Umbria you can take advantage of both regions.
