Beautiful acres of natural park nearby for walks, cycling or running. Golf, fishing and sailing is also available.

Historic Cartegena is c50 minutes by car and a wonderful day out for sight seeing and shopping.

Alicante is a fabulous destination c40 mins away for a day trip for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Terra Mitica, (ALTON TOWERS TYPE PARK) near Benidorm, is only c60 minutes by car. Junction 65A on the A-7 motorway It has some of the largest and most exhilarating rides in Europe.

Mundomar, (SEA WORLD) near Benidorm is a Marine and Exotic Animal Park has one of the best dolphinariums in Europe. Very near MUNDOMAR is AQUALANDIA, which offers leisure activities and great fun in the water.

AQUALANDIA is the Europe's largest water park - highly recommended! The FUENTES DEL ALGAR the waterfalls of Algar, is a natural beauty spot set high in the mountains behind Altea. PREVIOUS GUESTS SAID............: We didn’t hesitate to rebook this year for this apartment after being so impressed with it last year so it was a nice surprise to see it had been made even better with a new shower, oven/hob and TV (with all the main UK channels included). As usual it was spotlessly clean and well-equipped and Kay and Richard seem to have thought of the little details that let you just get on with the holiday such as an inbuilt safe, washing machine, shopping trolley, beach umbrella and so on. The local supermarket with many UK brands is just up the road and Kay and Richard even provide a shopping trolley, so all good to go. As usual they were very organised and approachable during the booking and prior arrangements. In terms of location, the apartment is perfectly situated only 4-5 minutes walk from the beach and the boardwalk with its cafes etc, with a large well-kept pool a few feet from the front door, or if you want a lazy day on the loungers the apartment’s sun terrace gets the sun till well into the afternoon. So yes this is a ‘rave’ review but credit where it’s due - we’ve been to La Mata several times and not every owner goes the extra mile to get things just right like this. Highly recommended.

We have stayed in La Mata for several years now and this apartment far out ways the others that we have stayed in. It is very clean, offering modern facilities and is in a great location. We are a family of six and the apartment provided plenty of space for us all, we enjoyed eating in, using the cooking facilities and gas bbq, but also enjoyed the stroll along the boardwalk to use the many restaurants on offer. The supermarket is a ten minute walk away and provides everything that you may need. The apartment opens out onto the swimming pool and is only a five minute walk from the beach.

The owners provided great communication and we would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family.

Just returned from 10 days here and can confirm the apartment is as good as prev reviews say it is. We have 2 small children (3 and 5) and they loved it. Pool right outside the door which is big and gets the sun all day, great beach with shallow sea minutes away and very easy for buses, supermarket etc. Kay was very helpful throughout and responded to all our queries and returned the deposit promptly. This is a very quiet complex and we had the pool virtually to ourselves for the whole stay. La Mata is quite a quiet town but there are nice restuarants and bars and the market on Wednesday is a must! We headed up the hill from the apartment to O'Briens and the strip of restuarants nearby quite often and a nice meal and good atmosphere is guaranteed.

The apartment has everything we needed and the utility area at the back is very handy for drying closes, storing suitcases, buckets and spades etc. Very safe for the kids too, with all windows locked, barred and shuttered.

If you are looking for a Benidorm/Torremolinos type of place, this isn't it. Its a lovely, relaxing location with everything you need. La Mata with its typically Spanish feel is one way and bigger, more developed Torrevieja the other.

Couldn't fault our holiday at all and we will definitely be back!

Now in out 10th year our villa grows more and more popular. We originally chose La Mata as we believe it has something for everyone. Climate, Beach, Nature, Quiet or busy (your choice), cosmopolitan yet friendly (not a typically 'Brits in Spain' style holiday. Great for kids, families, couples and older people.

What makes this apartment unique

The description for Villa Roma is authentic. FORTY FIVE REVIEWS (at the time of writing) SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES! We are often copied by other less adequate advertisers and we take this as a compliment. There are no misleading statements such as 'near beach' or 'short walk to the shops' when in reality this is not the case. The reviews are 100% genuine guest reviews as opposed to owner supplied. In other words we let the reviews speak for themselves. VILLA ROMA 'DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN' i.e. it provides fantastic holiday accommodation and facilities at highly reasonable rates.

We have just returned from one of our best holidays todate.

The accomodation had a home from home feeling, with the sun and warmth added! It had everything that was necessary for a self catering family holiday. It was clean, spacious and well maintained.

We have received first class customer service from the owner, before and after our holiday.

The Boardwalk taking us into La Mata town was ideal and not too long! There are numerous restaurants to choose from, English, Indian, Chinese and Spanish! All Restaurant Staff treated us with respect and kindness. O'Briens, up the road, does a cracking English Breakfast!

It was lovely being able to sit out at night on the terrace and just 'chill'.

We felt no need to use a hire car because everything we wanted was in walking distance, with the beach being a 5 minute walk.

I could go on and on, but won't because I might not get the chance to rent this property out again!

I would recommend it to any one wanting a quiet, relaxing and comfortable holiday in the sun.

Can't wait for next year!

Winter getaway

Just back from a fabulous stay in this clean and well equipped apartment situated in a well maintained complex with lovely pool. The patio was a sun trap and when the sun went off there mid afternoon we just moved to the sunny pool area. The apartment is ideally located close to the beach, bus and supermarket. British TV was very welcome for us in the evenings. The walk in shower was excellent and the beds very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment and look forward to returning.

Hidden Gem

Both me and my husband visited the first week of January . The property is situated in a beautiful complex which is well maintained. This apartment is next to one of the many pools. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Kay and Richard were extremely efficient when it came to making the booking, they provided details of airport taxis and local shops etc. The garden had sun-loungers which we used to get the sun from early morning to early afternoon and as the sun moved we were able to move into the pool area. The local bus stop was at the top of the road. The area was very quiet in the winter, but we enjoyed the peacefulness. The beach has a lovely boardwalk which was lovely to jog or simply stroll at your leisure.

We would highly recommend this apartment, and will definitely return.

Lovely apartment in a great location

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 day holiday at Villa Roma. We have holidayed in the area for the last 15 years and this is our favourite apartment to have stayed in. The apartment is immaculately clean and well appointed with everything you could need for a great holiday. The beds were incredibly comfortable which is not often the case in a holiday rental. We found the utility area to be very useful for washing and drying clothes as well as storing suitcases. The outside area and communal areas are very well kept. The whole complex is very quiet and in fact for most of our visits to the pool, we had the pool to ourselves. Our absolute favourite thing about the apartment though is its proximity to the beach. It took us only 5 minutes to walk to the beach down the tree lined path with a 3 and 6 year old in tow who kept busy spotting parakeets in the trees. This path also leads to a few beachside restaurants from the more touristy El Molino to the fantastic Vela Beach restaurant where we enjoyed some lovely meals. Bar lo Vento is also worth a visit and within walking distance.

Thank you to Kay and Richard for such a lovely holiday. We definitely hope to return.

Super holiday

Perfect place for a relaxing family holiday

This was our third stay at Villa Roma. The last time was four years ago, and the accommodation is even better this time!

The property is perfectly sized, so any in-holiday cleaning is not too onerous; there are enough amenities in the apartment to do whatever you like - eat in, do washing, stay in and watch English telly (although why would you); the pool is literally a 3 steps from the front gate; the amazing beach is a five minutes walk from the apartment and the supermarket is even closer for everything that you would need; there are reasonably priced restaurants / bars / cafes within a three minute walk of the apartment; and you get Spanish sunshine.

Kay and Richard are fantastic hosts. The correspondence is just the right amount - to keep you confident about the booking, and perfectly informed.

La Mata itself is a proper Spanish town, with a town square, and a church and bakeries, and a brilliant weekly market. Everyone is welcoming and relaxed.

I would recommend Villa Roma to everyone - whether a couple or a family with children of whatever age. We have been with little children and now with three teenagers and the children have loved it every time they have been.

There are many beautiful beaches, squares, walks, public parks, gardens, nature reserves and other beauty spots.

The area offers something for everyone including many cafes, bars and restaurants offering traditional Spanish dishes (fish a speciality) and delicacies from all around the world. One of the main attractions in the area is the variety of festivals which take place almost every Month. For Fast Foodies, McDonalds and Burger King are also nearby.

Golf: An excellent standard of Golf is available at several courses locally which include: La Marquesa, La Finca, Villamartin, Campamor, Las Ramblas, Alicante and the championship courses at La Manga Club.
