Good base for explorers

  • 4 of 5

The property is set in the foothills behind Benidorm and the temperature is a good four degrees lower than on the coast. But although there is a communal pool just a couple of minutes walk away, you wouldn't come here just to sit around the bungalow. And it is close to all roads to explore the mountains and the splendid resorts nearby.

The bungalow has two bedrooms with comfortable beds, a bathroom with over-the-bath shower, a well equipped kitchen with a washing machine and a lounge/diner with TV and DVD and an uncomfortable sofa that is well past its best. Everything is clean and tidy on entry and it is easy to keep it that way.

There's little to do locally, not even a food shop (though they say one is due to open soon) but there's a pharmacy and two bars, one of which, newly opened by a lovely Belgian lady called Danny, serves good food, offers free internet and is a meeting place for many of the Brits who live nearby.

The owner, Steve, is solicitous about his clients and is available by phone in case of problems. There is also a 24/7 medical service available in nearby Polop. I know this, because my holiday was somewhat spoiled by illness.

In short, it's a good place for anyone wanting to travel in the area (as others have mentioned, you really do need a car) but look elsewhere if you just want to sunbathe.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that our guests had a great holiday and enjoyed their stay! We will investigate the sofa as a matter of urgency and replace immediately if required.

Great property to explore Benidorm area

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the property in September 2017. We choose this Villa to be a great base to explore this region of Spain by car. The Villa is situated in a urbanization some 2km from the local shops in La Nucia and Polop. We had known this when booking but as we had driven from GB this wasn't a problem. We did see some bus stops on the urbanization but didn't see any buses. I would suggest a car is essential unless you simply need to relax in the Villa. We had access to a communal pool 2 min walk near the Villa, and would say that we had virtual exclusive use of this pool for the 30 days we were there. Fortunately we had taken our own sunbeds as none were provided at the pool or for use in the Villa. When not out and about or at the pool, the Villa had a small roof solarium to grab some more sun. One downside was that many of the properties on the urbanization had dogs, and many were left in empty properties and looked after by dog walkers or feeders. At times it was like living next to dog kennels, and once one dog started, it set off the next lot and so on down the street. Of course, this is not the owners fault, but this is a review and should be stated. Steve the owner, was brilliant and available at all times; not that we needed anything. He and his wife came to see us towards the end of our stay, and we had a great time chatting over some lovely cheap Rioja purchased at the local Lidl. All in all, a great time.

Great value for money

  • 4 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at this property so we knew what to expect. I was a bit concerned reading more recent reviews but there were no real surprises. The house does not have air conditioning but this is made clear in the specifications. It means that the nights can be hot and uncomfortable but in Spain in July/August this is to be expected. Since our last stay, the owner had replaced the lounge ceiling fan and provided a second free standing fan. Both of these help. The house is in a good state of repair and was well equipped for the 3 of us.

You definitely need a car although there is a great local bar about a 2 minute walk away.

We enjoyed out stay and the owner is always really helpful.

definitely needs airconditioning and you definitely need to hire acar

  • 3 of 5

We were told you don't need airconditioning because the villa is up in the hills.we stayed here in June and you definitely need a/c we where far to hot despite having 2 fans&the doors&windows open so god help the people staying in july and august. You defo need a car as it's a good 40 mins walk from anywhere . there's a small complex with shops&pharmacy at the end of the road that have been due too open 'next week' for the last 2 years the locals told us so you can't rely on them for food/ definitely need ear plugs as the dogs opposite≠xt door bark at the slightest noise or people walking past through out the night. Between being too hot &being woken up by the dogs we didnt get much sleep.the villa is in need of the bathroom regrouting &ashower screen putting up as I personally find a shower curtain unhygienic . The beds aren't the most comfortable &would benefit from mattress protectors. The villa would benefit from an in depth clean (In the draws&the bottom of the wardrobe was too dusty to put stuff in so I had to clean them out 1st).The pool is good&we had it most of the time to ourselves although the key we were given didn't work so we had to walk the long way round to the other gate.

Owner's Response: We have addressed all of these issues with our local agents. Our latest guests state that they thoroughly enjoyed their holiday, had no problems at all and wish to return next year! We always advise guests in advance that a car is required, and can provide airport transfers and local car hire for our guests, with a car delivered directly to the villa. We have successfully let for a number of years without air conditioning and have fans throughout the house. The pool key works and is the correct pool key as verified by our previous and subsequent guests. Local shopping facilities are improving although the main shops are still located in Alfaz del Pi and La Nucia, both a short drive away.

Lovely property in a good location

  • 4 of 5

This property is ideal if you want to explore the northern Costa Blance.

The house itself is well equipped and was really clean. The washing machine means that you can pack light and there was enough space for us to move abound without tripping over each other.

You share the use of the pool but during our stay we only shared it a handful of times. We were usually on our own there.

The location is really great. About 90 seconds away there is a lovely Spanish bar which overlooks a children's playground....perfect for enjoying an evening drink whilst our daughter played with the local children. There is also an outdoor exercise area and a new supermarket about to open. However, because the house is around the corner the will be no noise impact.

We hired a car, which I would say is a must, and the house owner, Steve, was able to put us in touch with a local hire car firm that offered very reasonable rates.

From here, you can easily drive to Altea, Calpe, Benidorm, Guadelest and many other places, so it is perfect base to explore from.

The owner was really helpful as were his agents who picked us up and returned us to Alicante airport.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to families and couples.

Little Gem of a Place

  • 5 of 5

we have just returned after spending near 3 weeks here, it is equipped for 6 people. It was clean and well maintained. It had everything we needed including brand new iron and ironing board. There is a table and 4 chairs for use on the outside patio, great for cool evenings. There are loungers and parasol on the sun roof terrace, which has amazing views.

The pool just at the back is fantastic we had sole use of it for the majority of the time with only the odd resident using for a swim at tea time. The children loved it they were able to play all day until late evening on their inflatables.

Across the road there is a lovely Spanish owned bar, open from early morning until the last people leave at night.

They do food which was delicious, we tried every Tapas dish and still cannot decide on what one was best.

There are games and things for children including a pool table and in the grounds a park with swings and climbing frames that kept the children entertained.

Just 5 minutes walk away is another bar English owned (Pauls) which is another great little place for a stroll and a drink.

Both bars sell fresh bread/baguettes everyday and Paul sells home made cakes (delicious).

You do not need a car to stay at this place unless you have mobility restrictions as there is a bus stop which is a 20 minute walk to get to.

We used Taxis to and from Benidorm which cost 15 Euro each way and the same cost to Altea but everywhere else La Nucia/Polop/Alfaz Del Pi all from 5 to 8 Euro each way.

All in all this is a little Gem of a place I would recommend to anybody with or without children.

Very quiet relaxing place and the locals are very very friendly.
