We know there are lots of villas to choose from, so this initial paragraph describes only the very particular features which we believe are unique to our villa. Hopefully, if these features are important to you, then our villa will be worthy of your time for further consideration.

Naturally, the villa has all the usual luxury and excellent features and facilities you have the right to expect, but what makes our villa unique is:

---FIRSTLY, that none of the terraces, barbeque, swimming pool, or poolside areas, are overlooked, nor do they overlook any other properties.

---SECONDLY, there are no other properties in front of the villa, nor immediately to the right, nor to the left, of the villa. There are two properties to the rear, but they don't affect our privacy at all.

---THIRDLY, there is a short, flat walk into the village (please note that a short section of the road has no footpath).

---And FINALLY, there are uninterrupted views of an unblemished wooded hillside across the valley opposite the villa.

CASA ORIOL is an individually designed luxury villa, carefully furnished, and fully equipped, to ensure that it will provide all our guests, across all age groups, with a wonderful and memorable holiday. It is situated within a small and exclusive residential area, within walking distance of the medieval village of Calonge, with its restaurants, cafes, bakers, and supermarket - all set within the beautiful ‘Les Gavarres’ mountains, with the Mediterranean sea and many magnificent sandy beaches within 10 minutes easy drive. The villa is gated and secure, with ample parking space for two large cars.

THE GARDENS are extensive, mature and flat, fully landscaped with pathways and low level stone walling throughout, and planted with trees, palms, shrubs, herbs and bushes – including 80m² of grassy lawn, as well as a large hard surface area for boules, badminton and other games. There is also a spacious shady pergola with a hammock, and its own coffee table & chairs, providing yet more alternative ‘al fresco’ relaxation space. Another feature of the garden is the large wooden summerhouse, used mainly for storage, and here you will find the two bicycles, pool toys and inflatables, the boules, games, beach equipment, and extra chairs etc.,

THE OUTDOOR DINING TERRACE, with its own large dining table and chairs for six people, overlooks the swimming pool, has uninterrupted views to the wooded hillside across the valley, and is only a few steps away from the stone barbeque. Two sets of double patio doors open directly out onto the external terraces, gardens, and pool area - and, when left open, merge the interior of the villa with the exterior, to create one overall living space.

ALL THREE BEDROOMS have excellent remote-control ceiling fans to keep you cool at bedtime, and each bedroom window is fitted with retractable insect blinds so that the windows can be left open for extra cooling, if required. There are also two large portable upright fans to provide a cooling breeze through the rest of the villa, if the going gets a bit hot.

The SWIMMING POOL is south facing and gets the sun all day. The pool is 8 metres by 4 metres, is 2 metres deep at the deep end, and 1 metre deep at the shallow end, with roman steps down into the pool at one side of the shallow end. It is surrounded by extensive poolside space for six cushioned sun loungers, two high-back chairs, side tables, and two large sun umbrellas, together with large beach towels for your extra comfort. There is also a hot/cold poolside shower, and the pool will be checked, cleaned, and maintained for you, at least twice a week.

HELP and ADVICE ‘before’ you decide: - We have been on villa holidays ourselves for many years, and we know just how important it is to ensure that you select the right villa, located in the right area, for your holiday. For example, it may be helpful for you have extra photos, or more information about the villa, or flights, airports, directions, hire cars, places to visit, beaches, restaurants, supermarkets, markets, websites etc.… So, if you would like any further information at all to help with your decision, we will be very happy to provide it for you – without any obligation at all on your part.

HELP and ADVICE ‘during’ your holiday: - If you wish, we will arrange to have our excellent, and very friendly and knowledgeable agents, Jim and Samantha, meet you when you arrive, show you around the villa, and where everything is, and also demonstrate how everything works. They live closeby and you will have their mobile numbers – and they will also be very happy to help you with any problems, questions, or queries you might have during your stay. There is no charge for this service.

About Doug and Barbara

We are a retired couple in our mid sixties, have been married for 42 years, (where did it go!), with two sons who have now left home, and we think ourselves very lucky indeed to own such a beautiful villa in such a beautiful part of the world.

Before building our villa in Calonge 8 years ago, we knew that we wanted it to be in a location:- where we could walk into the local village - which was not overlooked - was on a large, flat plot - was south-facing - and which had lovely uninterrupted views!

It was a very tall order and we had to spend many years waiting for exactly the right location to become available but, in the end, the exclusive development of 'Puig Rosell', became available, and we were lucky enough to be on the spot to snap up exactly the location we had always dreamed of.

Casa Oriol is an oasis of calm and tranquility. The photos only allow a glimpse of what the villa really has to offer - we are delighted to have had the opportunity to stay.



The villa is a credit to Doug & Barbara - right from the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice for our holiday on the Costa Brava. Immaculate, well equipped, clean, and with extras we have never had at villas we have stayed at before.



The pool and gardens were outstanding and were a particilar favourite of our 3 year old, who spent so much time wandering around the many hidden paths and exploring the areas, finding snails, stick insects, lizards, and much more !



The weather was spectacular except for two dull days, and the children visited the very handy park area next door.



We walked into Calonge, visited Sant Antoni beach, Platja D'Aro, Palafrugell, LLafranc and Begur, all equally good.



We can't speak highly enough of Doug & Barbara, and Casa Oriol.

Wonderful villa

The villa descriptions themselves do not provide an insight into the attention to detail the owners have put into the accomodation and making your holiday as comfortable as possible. It is immaculately clean, extremely well equipped (both in the kitchen and living areas), the outside facilities have something for everyone and it's location is perfect, being in a quiet neighbourhood, not overlooked but still close enough to walk to all amenities (including the beach, if you prefer a longer stroll). The "meet and greet" service which is provided free of charge was very good and provided a local point of contact should you need it. Having WiFi throughout was excellent. The owners provide a comprehensive manual about the villa, the area, the services, what's going on etc etc. They are also very infomative and helpful prior, during and after your vacation. For anyone looking for a quality villa at a reasonable price to rent in this area, this property is perfect.

Home From Home in Beautiful Calonge

Just returned from a very relaxing week and a half family holiday at the Casa Oriol in sunny Calonge (2 adults, 2 children 15 & 11). The villa is very well positioned on the edge of the village, we cycled most days to the bakery for croissants and Eurospar for bits and bobs. Calonge also has a small weekly local market and a couple of other good supermarkets (Suma and Aldi). The villa is very clean, well maintained, totally private, peaceful and very well equipped, it really does have everything you need. As we had a car we didn't really walk into Calonge (it's a small village really with only a few restaurants/shops) so mainly drove to Platja D'Aro that had more going on. The villa is also close to very good roads for trips out to other local places Palomos, Begur etc as well as an easy journey from Girona airport. We also went to Barcelona for a couple of days, taking the train from Caldes De Malavella.

Doug (owner) communicated really well with the booking process, and once in Calonge, Sam (agent) took good care of us, showed us around when we arrived, helped me when I stupidly messed up with the safe and checked in to make sure all was well.

I'd certainly recommend the villa, and can confirm that all the previous 5 star ratings and positive comments are accurate.

A Haven of Calm and Tranquillity.

Casa Oriol is a very well thought out villa and garden. I can see why Douglas & Barbara took so long to find their dream spot. The villa is well thought out and flows beautifully. The garden is a delight to have a wee walk around. The beds are comfortable and the showers are good and powerful with loads of hot water. Other reviewers have used up all the Superlative's, Wonderful, Fantastic, Beautiful and I can only agree with them. Douglas was very efficient in dealing with all enquiries. I have had many villa holiday in various parts of Spain and Casa Oriol has to be among the top three, over 20+ years. Well done to Douglas and Barbara for creating this idyllic haven of calm. I can strongly recommend Casa Oriol to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy world. One has not got to forget Samantha who managers the villa, she is a delight where nothing is too much trouble - 10 out of 10 for everything.

Fantastic Villa with great pool and gardens

Just back from a fantastic 2-week stay at Casa Oriol, which is every bit as good as all the descriptions and previous reviews suggest. The villa is excellently laid out with everything you need, and wonderful gardens and pool. Our children (10 & 7) loved playing with all the pool and garden toys and lilo's, and we enjoyed having meals on the veranda and enjoying the glorious views.

Also an excellent base to explore the area from, including the local village Calonge, the beaches and restaurants down at St Antoni and Palamos, and the various waterparks in the area which are great fun for all the family. Also well within reach for a day trip to Barcelona, and for transport connections to Girona (we travelled all the way down by train and then picked up a hire car at Girona airport). So much more to see and do that we're already planning our return trip.

Beautiful villa in wonderful location

This is a very special well presented and equipped villa in a stunning garden setting with an excellent swimming pool.

Located on a small estate only a few minutes drive from San Antoni, a family resort with nice promenade,good restaurants and an excellent beach.

The property was well maintained and the local manager was very helpful during our stay, as was Douglas, the owner.

We hope to return next year !

A lovely, well-equipped villa.

An excellent house built in a secluded spot. The house is very well-equipped and in great order. The garden is quite lovely with a good pool, boule area & a wonderful hammock under a shaded gazebo. The local village is pretty and within easy walking distance. One of the nearest restaurants, La Jovita, we found to be excellent value at lunch time and very good. The owner of the house is most helpful, as is the local contact who looks after the house.

This unique area of the Costa Brava remains unspoilt, and is characterised by green, lush rolling hillsides covered in evergreen cork, olive and oak. The villa terraces look out over one such hillside.

There are magnificent beaches, sandy coves, and historic coastal and ancient inland villages to visit, all within easy driving distance. The local area also has beautiful coastal walks and countryside trails to enjoy.

Two very good restaurants, ‘Can Tia’ and ‘Samal’ are less than 15 minutes flat walk (for info’ a short section of the road has no footpath, but no-one has yet had any problems with this). There are, of course, many other restaurants, both ‘fine dining’ and ‘traditional’, within close driving distance.

There are two excellent supermarkets in the village, stocking everything you will need. ‘Eurospar’ is only 10 minutes walk, and has freshly baked baguettes and croissants. ‘Suma’ is 5 minutes drive and it has an excellent rotisserie.

The historic town and active fishing port of Palamos, is only a ten minute drive, and you can buy fresh fish and prawns from the trawlers, in the town’s fish market every evening.

It's very easy to get to the wonderful cities of Barcelona, Girona and Perpignan for a day out, by train or car, and the beautiful and historic towns of La Bisbal, Besalu, Cadaques and Figueres, are even nearer.

There are plenty of activities for young people, including all the usual water-sports, plus cycling (there are two bikes at the villa), kayaking, snorkelling, scuba-diving, horse riding, karting, quad-biking, tennis, and a large water park - all nearby.

Getting to the villa is very easy indeed – with excellent road and rail links, and a good choice of airports. ‘Girona’ airport is only 40 minutes easy drive, and ‘Barcelona’ and ‘Perpignan’ airports are only 90 minutes drive away. (But, wherever you are coming from, we will provide you with all the advice, and clear directions you might need).

We would prefer the 'Bank to Bank Transfer' method, recommended by Homeaway, because this is the safest and most secure for all parties - and you can choose to pay into our UK Bank Account (Lloyds), or into our Spanish Bank Account (Bankia) - in Sterling, or in Euros, whichever you prefer.

And we strongly recommend that we speak personally on the telephone at an early stage of your booking.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday start date.

We strongly recommend that you take out holiday insurance because we cannot provide any refund once the final balance has been paid, unless we can re-let the villa.

The full list of ‘facilities’ is above - but here are a few extra details:- We provide you with a 'Welcome Pack' of wine, water, olives and nibbles - with our compliments. The villa is adjacent to an area of landscaped green open space, which also has a small infant play area nearby. There is good weekly street market in the local village of Calonge. The superfast Wi-Fi is capable of providing for up to 6 separate devices being used simultaneously, with Wi-Fi reach throughout the villa, the gardens, the pergola and the poolside – and even providing Wi-Fi access on the beaches of some local beaches !! There are lots of external terrace lights, including underwater pool lighting, which means that you can swim and barbecue etc, late into the evenings. For extra security, there is an easy to use ‘alarm system’ which can be easily set when you leave the villa unoccupied.
