Well equipped and close to the town. A steep walk up from the town but worth it. It only took us 8 minutes. Wonderful area to visit and the villa is a great base to start day trips in the surrounding area from. Pastum is well worth a visit and a good place to eat out with lots of lovely restaurants especially good was a restaurant called Domus Clelia, class and value. Angel caves at Pertosa are great and the boat trips to see the grottos from the port of Palinuro well worth it. Catch the train from Agropoli into Napoli and then take the sightseeing bus tour. Views from the surrounding towns are amazing and the sunsets spectacular. Definitely go have a look around Pompei, it's stunning.
Villa Elaia is very well equipped and comfortable with the outside space a real treat. The WiFi is a bit intermittent though, and the pool opening times and little frustrating, particularly after a hot day out? Nice to have a BBQ. The Italians are very erratic drivers, you take your life in your hands if you hire a car, so be brave and do like they do!
It is important to use co-ordinate on the sat-nav rather than addresses. The villa is at - N 40 17 11.4 E 14 57 05.9.
Driving through Naples is an experience to say the least! If you hire a car from the airport the co-ordinates for returning the vehicle are N 40 52 26.43 E 14 16 53.2
We made the mistake of avoiding the toll roads when the sat-nav gave us the option, stupid! I advise you to opt for the 2 euro toll road, to avoid being guided through the centre of the cities. Not somewhere you'll enjoy driving!
Al Fonso is a good host, and very friendly.
An improvement might be an information pack in the Villa with local information and details of locations such as the nearest supermarket, places to visit, and train times?
Overall a beautiful area to visit and a lovely Villa.
We stayed in the ground floor apartment Gremigna for 11 nights with a family of four including our 2 teenage boys. The accommodation was lovely and Alphonso the owner (and his gardener) were very friendly and helpful. Didn't quite appreciate how close the location was to the beach and the centre of the village/town, just a 10 min walk. Parking for our little hire car was great and we all enjoyed the pool. The accommodation was well maintained and we had all we needed but for an extra outside dining chair. We did a lot of driving as we wanted to visit Vesuvio, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast, also got as far as the blue caves at Palinuro. The local beach was great and hiring a sun beds/canopy a must. Overall it was fantastic family holiday.
5 stelle piene!Il posto é fantastico e tranquillo,il residence é fornito di tutte le comodità.Ci é sembrato di trovarci a casa nostra.Il proprietario é gentilissimo e disponibile.Appena possibile ci ritorneremo sicuramente.
It's the third time we've stayed at villa Elaia (apartment Coratina), and every time we are falling more and more in love with this wonderful place so perfectly maintained by its owner Alfonso and his staff.
On top of that, the swimming pool opened this year added a special charm to the property making it a real paradise for those admiring the relaxing atmosphere of "dolce fare niente".
We are looking forward to coming back to villa Elaia next summer.
Very comfortable location near the center of Santa Mariya, the property was clean an evryhting was ok. Alfonso the owner provided good service. We will recommend this property evrybody, we were with 3 children and felt very good, very nice territory many flowers. We liked restaurants very much! Alfonso is the best owner and he helped us very much. Thank you and i hope see you next year!
the owner gave us very good and accurate directions to find the home. it is near to the main coastal road but well back and therefore quiet. we had an appointment at 19:00 with the owner and at 19.00 he arrived. apartment was exactly as described with good clean towels and sheets. apartment was clean. carpark was adequate but if you have a big people mover best park over the other side of the main road, there is a large layby..Or hire a 500!On arrival we were given a bottle of local wine, a litre of milk, 2 litres of water and a chest of jams, nutella, sugar honey and toasted bread. before arriving we did stop at the Conad minimarket at the roundabout but there are 2 despars as well nearby. a flaw.with the flat no CORKSCREW in the flat.. I have my swiss knife so not a problem for us. the flat has a wall safe for your valuables.
Beach is a 5 minute downhill walk, great water and reasonable umbrella prices.
Eating out.We found the Arlecchino to be excellent, Pizza every day except sunday lunch. if you like fish this is the place.
In the town of Castellabate,, famous for the film location, there is the Restaurant Belvedere. Excellent if a bit pricey.
the location is a great place to stay and with safe family beaches.Paestum is nearby and must be seen,Pompei is a fair drive but again must be seen. Mozzarella , cheeses, pizza's, Pastries (sfogliatelle) oil wine and bread... all great.
Ideal and fair priced holiday base. I Recommend this flat and location highly. Its only a 1hr 45 minute drive from Naples airport.
SANTA MARIA DI CASTELLABATE, colourful seafaring village, is a famous international tourist destination thanks to the marvellous coast and its ability to conserve intact in the time the ancient traditions of the Cilento. SANTA MARIA DI CASTELLABATE is the ideal starting point to discover the numerous attractions of the Cilento National park and the wonderful Amlfitana coast. The National Park of Cilento stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the foot of the Apennines in Campania and Basilicata, and it includes the peaks of the Alburni Mountains, of the Cervati and of the Gelbison and the coastal buttresses of Mount Bulgheria and Mount Stella. The extraordinary naturalist complexity of the heterogeneous territory goes hand in hand with the mythical and mysterious character of a land rich in history and culture: from the call of nymph Leucosia to the beaches where Palinuro left Aeneas, from the ruins of the Greek colonies of Elea and Paestum to the wonderful Certosa of Padula.
