We returned from holiday almost 8 weeks ago and it's been incredibly busy but wanted to give you feedback on the wonderful woman who owns the above property. Having never been to Sicily before, we didn't know what to expect but right from booking this property on your site, Antonella has been nothing but helpful. She communicated with us, sending us additional photos, tourism information and local tips about getting around. In the end, she actually picked us up from the airport for a nominal cost which in hindsight was a blessing when travelling with a tired 4 yr old. Once we were there, she offered to drive us to points of interest and did this over a number of days without expectations. Antonella also assisted us with onward accommodation and generously let us use her Internet connection. Her property is also one of the more well equipped ones we came across. It had everything down to shampoo, hairdryers and cotton wool! Extraordinarily clean and tidy with great views ...Marisa - NZ
I just spent 3 wonderful weeks with my husband and mother in Antonella's apartment in Aspra. Over the last six years, we have rented vacation homes in other locations in Italy, France and Spain. But, this was our favoirte by far! Not because of the apartment, which is lovely, not because of the proximity to the beach, which is a stone's throw away, but because of Antonella and the people of Aspra. What a warm, friendly people they are! I am American with a limited knowledge of Italian and yet everyone tried to communicate in a patient way. Antonella made us feel like long lost family members, inviting us to dinner in her home, taking us on her boat for a scenic tour and bringing us to an authentic Sicilian restaurant with the cutest waiters ever! All of Sicily was simply beautiful and if you need further information I would be glad to reply. And if you want to stay in an authentic Sicilian town with great people, this is your place. One word of caution, Sicilian drivers are the worst I have ever experienced and I drive New York City! If you are faint of heart, do not dirve!
We loved the location and the town. Can buy fresh seafood and more right there. Great pizza and more just a few doors down and then there's coffee and pastry and more right there. Nice home and the kids loved the upstairs bedroom with comfortable beds. Aspra a small fishing village with great charm. We just loved it as a base to travel parts of Sicily.
We stayed on week in this lovely small town by the sea and it was a memorable week. Having stayed in a lot of houses all over Italy and France we'd been quite specific in what we're looking for, and this is the kind of place. Like stated in other reviews, not the furniture, not the terrace, not the small beach 50 meters away, but the ambiance of the place, a simple and slower life, buying the morning bread from the baker 4 doors away, the fruit from the small and old man from a tiny APE50 delivery truck, the few but nice restaurants all facing the sea, being in the middle of something real instead of at a resort. The feeling it has been like this for ages and most likely will stay like this for a long time, s small and calm place where you can spend weeks. Finally I need to mention the lovely host, a more gentle and friendly person will be hard to find.
We chose this property for our holiday because it did not look touristy & the feedback was fantastic. I am overjoyed to report that both were true. We enjoyed a week where we were treated with genuine warmth by all.
The house is beautifull & caters for your every need.
Our hosts were magnificent. Wonderfully welcoming. Generous in their time, kindness & commitment to making our stay truly memorable. For this we owe a HUGE thank you. I heartilly recommend this to you if a relaxed holiday in beautiful surroundings without all the fuss & bother of a commercialised resort is what your long for.You can always travel to busier places but returning to the warmth of Aspra was special.
Imagine visiting Sicily and staying with your favorite Italian cousin in her lovely home by the sea. That is exactly what our experience was like when my husband, his mother and I rented the Stadda apartment from Antonella in October. We couldn't have asked for a better first experience of Sicily. We had originally planned on staying in Palermo, but I came across Antonella's listing by mistake - I'm so glad I did. The apartment was clean, spacious (even by U.S. standards) and was equipped with everything we could possibly need - toiletries, umbrellas, hairdryer, iron, washing machine, bottled water, basic foodstuffs, etc. Be sure to bring your own washcloth, though, as Italians and French (in my experience) typically consider such things "too personal" to provide to visitors. Like others have said, while the apartment was pleasant and well-located, Antonella's kindness is what made our experience so special. I'm going to start by saying that we were very needy travelers and Antonella was there for us every step of the way. For example, my mother-in-law wanted to see the ancient mountain village of Geraci-Siculo and Antonella offered to drive us two hours through winding mountain roads to get us there (which we paid her for, of course). She even took us back to Palermo on our last day to help my mother-in-law find an authentic Sicilian cookbook. She taught us how to cut in line at the post office, jaywalk across a busy street and gesture like a Sicilian. Antonella is funny, vivacious and so knowledgeable about everything that we missed not having her with us when we ventured on to Rome and Paris. When we overcame any traveling obstacle on our own, we would say "Wouldn't Antonella be so proud of us?" Antonella recommended great places for us to visit and even helped us buy our train tickets to see the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Every restaurant she recommended or took us to had some of the most amazing food I've ever eaten in my life. I would highly recommend learning some basic Italian if traveling to Sicily since very few people speak English. My Italian was awful, but I was happy to know the phrases I did when Antonella wasn't around to translate for us. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else while visiting the Palermo area and the three of us can't wait to go back - mostly because we loved spending time with Antonella. Ciao, Ciao!
As two couples travelling together, we were looking for an experience with the “real” Sicilian people and by booking at “Stadda” we got exactly what we were looking for and so much more! From the moment we met Antonella on the main street, we felt welcomed in to her community. After showing us the villa, she invited us “for lunch” – in our words a banquet of local taste sensations shared with Antonella and Gaetano – gracious hosts. We felt very welcome walking and shopping in the local area – particularly buying fresh fish from the fishermen - and even with our broken Italian we were able to get the message across to the locals. Food and wine (especially the Jumpy’s 2 litre special) were relatively inexpensive, and very tasty.
We found Sicily to be one of Italy’s best kept secrets, and Antonella the tour guide is one of Palermo’s best kept secrets. She loves her town, knows every interesting place to visit, and the right person to gain access if the destination happens to be closed! She is a font of knowledge, and has wonderful stories to relate about the places we visited. We have vivid memories of following her car in our car, but “when in Rome…” dictated that an Australian driver became like a driver from Palermo!!
The villa is more than adequate for four adults, is spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Each bedroom is ensuite, with bathroom necessities supplied. It was wonderful to find the basics in the kitchen / fridge, and, when we did cook, we found all the necessary equipment, crockery and cutlery readily available. We can’t recommend “Stadda” highly enough. Thank you Antonella and Gaetano

Aspra is a charming fisherman’s village only 15 km from Palermo; away from luxury tourism it is a genuine place, where you can experience the warmth of Sicilians and is a good starting point to discover our traditions and hidden places. The waterfront is a pedestrian area and there are many Italian bars, ice-cream parlours and the typical restaurants called Trattoria, with marvellous seafood and all kinds of basic shops and services such as: post office, bank, tourist doctor, chemist, tobacconist, perfumery, newsagent, gift shops, supermarket and local special food shops at maximum 200mt away. Fish is sold beside both harbours and by the way..Palermo is only 15km away!! You'll find many historical sites and places to see in Palermo. With fine monuments, works of art, churches and buildings, tourism in Palermo is far from boring!
Other Activities: historical tour
