About Tom

Since more than 10 years we take care of our guests. They come from all over the world, and many of them on a regular basis. Our goal is to make your stay an unforgettable event of your life.

Tom purchased this apartment in 1999

Why Tom chose 5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is one of the most attractive areas of the French capital. It is located centrally but still keeps its original charme "à la française" and its irresistable Parisian flair.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is located in a quiet side street with almost no traffic. You enjoy a fabulous view to the green park. There are many shops, restaurants, cafés, bistros and pubs nearby. Start your morning with a stroll on the fresh market on Place Monge, just around the corner. Don't miss the tasty baked "Baguette Tradionnelle" at the popular French bakery in rue Lacepède. Meet friends for a coffee or have a Pastis at one of the busy French Cafés on Place Contrescape. From there take a relaxed walk along the historical Rue Mouffetard up to the famously beautiful "Panthéon". Visit the picturesque "Jardin des Plantes" and take a tea with a selection of Arab biscuits in the Mosque nearby. Dinner on the roof terrace of the Museum for Arabic Arts & Culture. From there you enjoy a magnificently enjoyable view on Paris by night: Notre Dame, Sacré Coeur, Eiffel Tower, the church Saint Sulpice... Visit the vibrant variété night show at the famous "Paradis Latin". Explore "La nuit à Paris" for lovers and life artists !

10th Anniversary Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Apartment: 4.5/5

Location: 5/5

Overall Exp: 5/5

Wife and I celebrated her birthday on the 8th and our 10th anniversary in Paris after not seeing each other for three months due to my work taking me to all the worst places on the planet. This trip was important. Budget was focused on experiencing things outside the flat but the flat was required to have a romantic charm. We were going to immerse ourselves into the Latin Quartier culture so we wanted walking distance to good cafés, brasseries, bars, and shops. Bonus: walking distance to most anything touristy. We found the perfect balance due to this location which provided us the best home base imaginable.

Apartment:

Elevated ground floor with a view overlooking a beautiful park surrounding an old arena. Apartment is quaint, homey, and charming. Everything worked as advertised. The bed could be more comfortable but I believe that's the only thing that could be improved (yet it didn't take away from our overall experience or sleep... And the wife is picky about her beds ;)). The Streubers were absolutely amazing. We didn't need anything, but if we did, contact info was swapped and I had full confidence they'd come to our aide in a New York minute. We received our deposit back when they said we would. They didn't sweat the details even though I usually cover my bum regarding both pre and post rental walkthroughs. It was more of a personal experience rather than business. 100% trustworthy folks.

Location:

Bread and butter. Zoo around the corner, a short walk to the Pantheon, Gardens, and pretty much anything else. Über or bus to a few places north of the river. Grocery store right down the road. Oddly amazing tea at the Mosque around the corner. Great eats everywhere. Be sure to cross Monge and hang out in the Mouffetard area. This is all Old University stomping grounds... Great food, drink, prices and service. Even better people. We met a couple that helped translate getting my pizza order right down the road from the flat. They sent us a surprise care package to our house in Texas a couple weeks later. Did I mention great people?

If you found this review integral to your decision to choose this HomeAway gem, and you find yourselves enjoying your experience as much as we did, stop by the "Brewberry" (off Mouffetard and Pot de Fer) and tell Marine that Shaun and Carleen said, "Hi!" If she says Simon is around, buy them both a beer for us! You won't regret it. Enjoy!

Very Nice Location

  • 2 of 5

If you like to wake each morning with a back pain from the extra firm mattress, this is the apartment for you. If you like to have the bedroom bright yellow from the streetlight across the street, this is the place for you. If you like to flush toilets three to four time before they begin to be clean, this is the place for you.

Otherwise, this is a great quiet neighborhood with fabulous bakeries, fruit stores, butcher shops and local markets six days a week. Ask how to operate the washing machine, dishwasher, stove and oven since we found that we were guessing and not always correct.

Owner's Response: Dear Craig, thank you for your feedback. 1. During check-in we have instructed you how to use window shutters, ...why did you not use them ? Street light in the cities are common. Even in this very quiet side street. 2. At our charge we have unblocked the toilet after you have thrown a towel into it. 3. The bed mattress is of high quality and particularly healthy. All our tenants have appreciated it since many years. We have however left you with an additional soft layer for the mattress. Why did you not use it ? 4. We have shown you how to use all appliances and also handed to you all the instruction manuals (incl. stove, washing machine etc.), ... did you forget ?. We understand that travelling at your advanced age is a tiring exercise... (-; Btw: Please can you return the kitchen items and furniture accessories that you took with you ? They are rather expensive to replace... Regards.

An excellent location and an apartment with a blend of traditional and modern features

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here over the Christmas holidays. The apartment was warm and comfortable for a couple. It is larger than the pictures indicate and has all the basic requirements. The location is excellent for the left bank, Jardins de Luxembourg on foot as well as the Rue Mouffetarde with its interesting bars and restaurants. Excellent boulangerie just along the Rue Monge to the left and a local Carrefour nearby too. Underground stations of Cardinal Lemoine and Monge nearby and we would recommend if you arrive with luggage to take the Monge exit and not the Rue Navarre exit as the latter has a lot of steps and no escalator ! As for the apartment if there were more dishes/cutlery etc that would be good for home cooking and the use of the dishwasher as well as perhaps refreshing the cooking utensils ?. We have already recommended this to friends and family as a very good base for a sightseeing trip to Paris. Elaine and Bob . .

Elegant Abode

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is ideally located on a quiet street with easy access to two metro lines and lots of shops and restaurants on Rue Monge and Rue Mouffetard. The apartment was very clean and the furnishings were comfortable and decorous. The two fireplaces added to the charm. The washing machine and the other appliances were easy to use. Tom was very solicitous and helpful.

The Jardin des Plantes is quite close and many plants were still in bloom in early October. Luxembourg Garden is also not too far if you are a walker.

The Cluny Museum and the Pantheon are attractions we enjoyed that we could walk to. The ice cream shop Amorino and the adjoining bakery off the Contrescarpe are two places not to be missed.

are well worth a visit.

Excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location! This property is in the beautiful Latin Quarter with 3 metro stops within a very easy walk. Place Monge metro is directly across the street. Very secure apartment in a very nice neighborhood. Lots of great restaurants/cafes, shopping, and grocery store nearby. The apartment is exactly as it appears in the pictures. Everything is as described in the listing. I have rented in the Latin Quarter before, so the deciding factor for me was the prompt reply and customer service from this owner. My son and I stayed here for a week and were very comfortable. I will definitely recommend this property to friends and colleagues.

Owner's Response: It s been a particular pleasure to meet you. And have you been visiting some of the cultural events ? VisitParisRegion writes: "Take the rue Daubenton until you reach the place Saint-Médard. This charming little square is the point of departure for the rue Mouffetard. The market, shops, residents and cobblestones... « la Mouff' » as the local say, will leave a lasting impression. To savour the atmosphere here, find a spot on one of the terraces for a meal at the place de la Contrescarpe, and just watch the world go by. To walk off the evenings extravagance, a little window shopping is advised. The small boutiques show off the work of young designers, the record shops always have some new, and old, music to listen to and the shops stay open until 10 p.m.. For the road, you must try a flower-shaped ice cream cone from Gelati d'Alberto (45 rue Mouffetard). You can meet up with the locals at Piano Vache ! Just turn and walk all the way back up the rue Mouffetard until you reach the rue Laplace, and you'll find this famous bar where all the students go. Music offered nightly in an atmosphere covered with posters and photos of musical legends, so Rock n'Roll !"
