My name is Christian Droste, I was born in 1964. I live in this building since I was born. I am a freelance artist and musician. My wife Natalia and I run our holiday apartments since the summer of 2009.
Christian Droste purchased this apartment in 1864
Our house, a 160-year-old 'Gründerzeithaus' comes from family. My grandfather, he was a blacksmith, had his workshop here and lived here also. It is the center of our living and the center of our work. Workshop, gallery, hotel, office.
I was born here and I grew up here in this house. It's my belly and my brain and I love it with my whole heart. Our building is a 160 year old lady with a lot of charm in one of the most beautiful districts of Vienna.
Christian was very helpful from the day we booked till we checked out. It is only about two blocks from the Metro that goes throughout the city. Christian emailed detailed instructions on how to arrive at the apartment. The apartment is clean, comfortable, airy, restaurants nearby, maybe ten minute walk to heart of old Vienna. Will definitely keep this address for future visits to Vienna. Three days were not sufficient.
This is a lovely apartment located in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of the center of Vienna. The rooms are spacious and attractive and the apartment is in a nice renovated old building. The only real problem was the internet, which only worked if you sat on one specific windowsill and even then it was very slow and intermittent. Otherwise, a great place to stay.
We found the apartment ready for us with all we could expect.
We have been extremely happy to find this apartment, well decorated and equipped in a wonderful area near the market and the center of the city.
I have already recommended this location to a number of friends
The parking facilities inside the building are so convenient it made our life easy.
The landlord has been extremely helpful in different occasions and we will certainly go back.
We stayed in this modern, artistic flat for 3 nights and loved it. It was perfectly appointed and Christian was very helpful. It was so close the the Underground and walking distance to nearly everything. Having secure/free parking and laundry in the middle of Vienna was fantastic and actually amazing, especially at the reasonable rates offered. The studio is ridiculously large, with a separate kitchenette/dining area and separate bath. We will surely stay again next time in Vienna!
I stayed at Schiffamt for about 7 weeks, in TOP2. Despite my linguistic limitations (I don't speak German), the inquiring and booking process preceding my arrival was easy and went very smoothly, thanks to a detailed website and to Christian's (i.e. the owner) swift reply to my emails. The flat was in very good conditions (clean, well-looked after, and with all the essential comforts), yet with fair and accessible prices. The location was perfect: the closetst metro station was just a 2-minute walk away (providing access to 2 lines), the city centre could be reached on foot in 10-15 minutes, and a supermarket was around the corner. A laundry room (free of charge) was available to all guests. The kitchinette in the apartment was pretty new and functional, so I could feel at home cooking my own dinners: something the you really want to when staying on a long term. The owner, Christian, was very friendly and helpful, answering all my questions on the apartment, its facilities, and on Vienna in general. All in all, I highly recommend Schiffamt!!
Sehr netter, unkomplizierter Vermieter.
Die Wohnungen sind sehr geschmackvoll und einzigartig. Werde es bei meinem nächsten Aufenthalt wieder buchen.
Our apartments are located in the 2nd quarter at the “Karmeliterviertel”, only a stone's throw away from the historical city center (10 min walk). In 5 minutes you can walk to the beautiful Augarten, to relax or just visite the world famous Augarten china factory. Also nearby is the Danube Canal, which has developed into a boulevard with nice beach bars and restaurants. We should also mention the Karmelitermarkt - a meeting place for young and old, with it´s weekly Saturday farmers' market, with countless austrian organic cheese, meat and vegetable dishes and many other delicacies. Again, there are many good restaurants, bars and meeting places that are frequented by artists, all kind of people. In the Wiener Prater children and parents find traditional “Rummel” and modern attractions side by side. This is the special charm of the Prater. We have also some museums in our district. We do not write here about all the atractions of the historical center because the are known worldwide.
