My name is Christian Droste, I was born in 1964. I live in this building since I was born. I am a freelance artist and musician. My wife Natalia and I run our holiday apartments since the summer of 2009.
Christian Droste purchased this apartment in 1864
Our house, a 160-year-old 'Gründerzeithaus' comes from family. My grandfather, he was a blacksmith, had his workshop here and lived here also. It is the center of our living and the center of our work. Workshop, gallery, hotel, office.
I was born here and I grew up here in this house. It's my belly and my brain and I love it with my whole heart. Our building is a 160 year old lady with a lot of charm in one of the most beautiful districts of Vienna.
I loved this apartment and the beautiful custom artwork provided. Christian was very much available at all times via messaging to answer any question and he worked hard to please. His apartment was very unique. I loved the pine floors, so quaint and old world! Mixed with the modern architecture, the juxtaposition of styles resulted in something totally new and different. My favorite part was the walk along the Blue Danube to get to the City center. It was close by and could be walked comfortably in about 15 minutes. I like to walk briskly so it only took me 10. The were interesting shops and bakeries as well as people sunning themselves along the Danube. The shower did leak a bit but I just put the bath mat at this point and did not point the shower that way. I know Christian can fix this with a slight raise in the floor at this point and I am sure he will. He has all of the necessities, including a hair dryer. We stayed here once 3 years ago and were impressed with how he was always working on his place and improving it.
We stayed at Top 5. Location was ok, close to metro and about 25-30 minutes walk to downtown. Aplartment itself was not comfortable at all. Floors are horrible
squeaky, shower cabin leaks all over, toilet resembles one on a train only worse. And bed is located under the stairs in a small niche, makes you clastrophobic. I would not recommend staying here, you can find something much better for the same money.
This apartment is so close to the metro stop which makes it incredibly easy to get around the beautiful city of Vienna. We enjoyed the roominess of the apartment as well as the cleanliness. I'm not sure the photos accurately capture how roomy this place is. Quite a treat when traveling through this area as most other hotel rooms we stayed in were super small. No complaints here at all as I would definitely stay here again. Christian was super friendly and beyond helpful. Thanks again for your hospitality! :)
Top 5 was a big plus in our Vienna visit. It was roomy but cozy—with cute furniture—and is conveniently located just across the Canal from the Inner City. It's only three blocks from the subway system, but we found it easy to walk to Vienna's many museums, Christmas markets, opera houses, fantastic pastry shops, and so much more. The owner e-mailed us with helpful advice on local resources and information about how to get from the airport to Top 5 (simple). The apartment was clean—and well-equipped, too: for instance, the kitchen came with a milk foamer and a French coffee press (though you should really go to the city's splendid coffee houses for your cup), the hallway held a shoe horn and umbrellas (which proved handy), and we definitely appreciated the free wi-fi. Heads up: You must climb a set of (small) stairs to get to the apartment, and if you visit in winter, the shower area is on the chilly side. That said, we loved the apartment, would definitely return, and liked what we saw of the neighborhood, too.
We had a wonderful week's holiday in this light, airy apartment. Cristian was very helpful and explained everything we needed to know, when we arrived, including the free wi fi.The apartment was very quiet and povided everything we needed. There is secure parking in a courtyard area but transport is good with two u bahn stations close by. We found that you can walk to the inner town, with all its sights, in about 15 minutes. There are also food shops and good restaurants nearby. We highly recommend this apartment.
Intellektuelles, nettes Appartement mitten in der Stadt (man kann zu Fuss alles erreichen),
Vermieter sehr nett, hilfsbereit und offen, Fazit: WUNDERBAR!
Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder....
Our apartments are located in the 2nd quarter at the “Karmeliterviertel”, only a stone's throw away from the historical city center (10 min walk). In 5 minutes you can walk to the beautiful Augarten, to relax or just visite the world famous Augarten china factory. Also nearby is the Danube Canal, which has developed into a boulevard with nice beach bars and restaurants. We should also mention the Karmelitermarkt - a meeting place for young and old, with it´s weekly Saturday farmers' market, with countless austrian organic cheese, meat and vegetable dishes and many other delicacies. Again, there are many good restaurants, bars and meeting places that are frequented by artists, all kind of people. In the Wiener Prater children and parents find traditional “Rummel” and modern attractions side by side. This is the special charm of the Prater. We have also some museums in our district. We do not write here about all the atractions of the historical center because the are known worldwide.
