MAGICIAN THE GREEN, BANKERS AND FILMMAKERS

Gutschow house, built in 1895, a significant work of historicism (neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance), is the symbol of the southern Friedrichstrasse because of the elaborate facade, its location and history. It is the only hotel in this area that 100% of the second World War II has survived. Perhaps because 1910-1990 was the Mecca of the magicians here by magic headquarters of the world famous magician Conradi-Horster?

2006 The Greens conjured a unique project: all tenants have received the right of first refusal for the entire house and thus the possibility in partnership with investors (first former bank directors, filmmakers later) to buy the house and rehabilitate. 'Six of us - women' d'un certain age'- stayed here at the beginning of this winter and werewolf all delighted with our choice. The building is beautiful Itself, redolent of end of empire flourish, while the apartment, with the gracious proportions of at Earlier era is warm and welcoming. We loved the beautiful original wooden floors, decorative plasterwork on the the bedroom ceilings, the sense of space, as well as the terrific shower in a stylish, modern bathroom. Our internal homemakers thrilled to the quality and solidity of the linens and general fittings (and dreamy beds). The kitchen is really well equipped so we did not just eat breakfast there but some prepared meals too, though there are some good restaurants close by. The main room and the bedrooms are really roomy, not even with 6 of us did it ever feel crowded. Marion, our host in Berlin, which welcoming and gave some really useful tips on eating out and things to do, and his welcome package which chosen with care - organic and delicious.

The location is great! so close to Museum Island did it makes a very comfortable stroll before a trip to the unmissable Pergamon. But if walking's not your thing then the wonderful Berlin public transport system is accessible only 2 mins away at the Cook Street stop. Another visit you must make is to the Jewish Museum Which is so only 2 mins walk from the building. This is a great city for history and culture fans, so get booking! you will not regret choosing this apartment as your base for your explorations. But first get fit and keep your luggage minimal; there are two flights to walk up. ' (Love Curious Nelly, Rooms 11 and 12 have since 2013 by a lift.)

An apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, ecologically refurbished and equipped with products leading manufacturers, walls made of clay, shielded cables, floating oak floor, baseboard heater. The means: spelled, kapok and latex pillows, latex mattresses and Tencel (Celulose) ceiling of Dormiente, towels, bedding and curtains made from organic cotton (KBA) of Cotonea, water revitalization of EWO, faucets by Grohe, frameless floor-level glass shower the top series Davita by Schulte , red Dot design shower head Raindance by Hansgrohe, washbasin Architec toilet and bidet and Stark 2 of Duravit, natural stone tiles of red travertine, underfloor heating in the bathroom area. It was carried out an investigation after the Baubiologische Standard of Building Biology metrology. Cleaning with gently dosed organic fabric softener, without fragrances. The apartment is for a maximum of 6 adults.

Christmas in Berlin!

This is a beautiful apartment close to checkpoint Charlie and the u bahn!

Couple of points to ponder:

-no microwave

-no washcloths or dishrags

-washer/dryer in apt but costs extra to use

-no lift/elevator (3rd floor)

Overall a great place to stay. Comfortable and roomy for 7 people.

Owner's Response: Microwave: we explain online before the booking that our children doctor does not recommends. Anyway, future guests can require this by booking if this is a must for them and we will provide it. We normally provide 2 dishrags. If you there are any, please tell us and we bring them. As we live in the same house, we met the guests few times and asked if everything is OK. The answer was always yes and the dishrags were not mentioned. Also we provide a mobile phone were our guests can call us free of charge. Please call and we will do our best to improve any situation you might not be happy with. The charges for washer or dryer are 3 Euro per hour. This has been also described online before booking. No lift: as described online, this apartment has no lift, 50 steps from street level.

Clean and convenient.

We found the accommodation very satisfactory but as we were travelling nothing in the booking advertisements let us know that it was a holiday rental. We thought it was motel. The apartment was clean and well set up and in a great location. It suited our purposes but was up a few flights of stairs.. A bit tricky with large suitcases. Internet was provided but not always fast enough to use.

We were surprised when we were required to complete a formal lease and pay a deposit. This was difficult as we were travelling and had some technical difficulties. The owner was very helpful in this instance.

2weeks after departure we are still waiting for our deposit to be returned.

Owner's Response: We advertise as an apartment for short time lets. This can be for business or holidays. All our online descriptions and pictures show the opposite of a motel: high standard, located in city center, not closed to highways and so on. The online description shows that there is no elevator and that a 350 Euro security deposit will have to be paid by booking. Because we run an apartment rental and not a motel, the guest had to sign a rental contract. We decided to except all our payments through HomeAway. In this way the guest payment, including the security deposit, is 100% insured against fraud. The guest received the full deposit back, but credit card return payments (in this case Australia) might take longer than expected to reach the account.

Lovely apartment, great location

The apartment was big, very well located and of a high standard. I have only given it 4 stars as I felt the owner could have communicated better about extra costs. Only on the morning of travel, I was informed that I would have to pay an extra 30 Euros for city tax. I was also requested to bring extra cash for '3rd party charges' and there was a mysterious deposit charge listed on a confusing updated bill sent by email the same morning. I find it disconcerting when all the costs are not communicated clearly from the outset - seems to be a problem with many of these sites and assumes that travellers can fork out extra at the last minute without any problem.

Owner's Response: Online under "View all prices" and during the HomeAway booking process each guest is giving the following information: how much will be charged per additional person, that city tax needs to be paid if he and his members travel for private and not for business reasons and that a refundable security deposit will have to be paid. Util now, we wanted to give the guest also for the payment as many flexibility as possible and accepted PayPal, wire transfers, credit cards, etc. In many cases we were charged up to 5% because the guest did not pay the whole charges on his end. This we had to forward to the guest as specifically stated in the rental contract and the information we send again shortly before arrival. For the future we decided to accept only credit card payments through HomeAway. This way will be less complicated for the guest and for us, because the 3rd party charges will disappear. If something is confusing, I apologize. We are always interested to clarify any misunderstanding before, during and after your visit and improve our procedure. Please, contact us directly.

Amazing way to see Berlin

We had been travelling for over two weeks with our three kids (8, 12, 13)...we would have been happy with anything more than one night at any one place. Instead we got an absolutely fabulous place, completely central to seeing Berlin without a car and an amazing way to introduce the kids to European living outside of a traditional hotel or B&B! The location was absolutely amazing, there were some excellent restaurants nearby, close to all metro...total amenities and such a beautiful place! Our hosts were over the top fabulous...super helpful, super understanding and very accommodating. Sleeping arrangements were beyond ideal. Would highly highly recommend this flat for any group of travellers looking for a more hands-on way of seeing a city...

Beautiful Rental in a Great Location!

We stayed in this Berlin rental in July with our three kids. It was easy to find, close to public transit, clean, and well stocked. I would highly recommend it for anyone with kids. The three flights of stairs were not an issue for us. The apartment was nicely decorated and very quiet. There is a laundry room in the building that I used to do a load of laundry and that was very helpful. You can walk from this rental to Checkpoint Charlie and the train station. I highly recommend this rental!
