Villa Rosa review
The villa was lovely, nicely fuirnished and spotlessly clean. It was spacious and very comfortable. The views of the mountains all aound were breathtaking, and it was a very restful escape from our busy lives!
There was no TV reception, but plenty of DVDs were provided, so we didn't really miss it much. The information provided in the hose was excellent. We tried out a few of the recommended restaurants - our favourite was 'La Marchigiana' We visited the Frassasi caves, which were were well worth the journey. We also visited Roman ruins, castles, drove high into the mountains, and ate in an open air restaurant.. All this and trips to the seaside and a day in Assisi - don't know how we packed so much in.
Would recommend the villa for large families or groups of friends, who want a relaxing holiday, and who don't mind a 10 or 15 minute drive to the shops and restaurants.
Great house, wonderful views
We had a lovely stay at Villa Rosa. The property is spacious, clean and well furnished with impressive artwork on the walls. We had a minor incident whilst staying there and the property manager was extremely responsive. He went out of his way to help us during our stay, which we are very grateful for.
The pool has fantastic views and the area is wonderful. The mountains, lakes and local walks are fabulous. You do feel like you are in the middle of nowhere whilst being only a few kilometres from the thriving local town - a great combination. Sarnano and the surrounding area has some good restaurants, and the local shops are great if you want to eat in, including a lovely fresh pasta shop and excellent butcher and baker.
The only thing that surprised us was that there are two properties on the site (Villa Rosa and the owner's house), and the pool is close to the owner's house. It is not a problem at all but was unexpected from the description.
Villa Rosa is a lovely house for families and larger groups. We loved the area and wished we could have stayed longer.
Thank you so much and I am very pleased you enjoyed Villa Rosa.
Although my other house is on the property we are NEVER in residence when guests are in Villa Rosa. So anyone renting Villa Rosa has total privacy and sole use of the gardens, pool and all the fields and woods.
A Beautiful House in Le Marche
This is a spacious and lovely house in a really stunning part of Italy. The views are amazing and the house is very comfortable and well equipped. The gates on the way in and out are a minor inconvenience but well worth enduring for a really nice place to stay. It's much homelier than most rentals with nice furnishings and artworks dotted around the place. The pool is enormous and has panoramic views towards the mountains.
The area around the house couldn't be nicer - gorgeous hilltowns, roman ruins, beautiful countryside and an amazing national park nearby. The food in this area is wonderful and reasonably priced - considerably cheaper than Umbria next door. There are great markets and supermarkets in nearby Sarnano.
Highly recommended and watch out for the cuddly edible dormice in the garden!
Gem of a place in a stunning area
We were a large family with two young children staying at this villa this Summer, We can only sings its praises, A very tastefully decorated villa with great facilities and very helpful owners. We were given plenty of information about the surrounding area which is awash with plenty to see and do. Though we also cant speak highly enough of the closest village Sarnano which happened to have a festival on over the week that we spent there. Fabulous walks and delicious local fare. A real gem of a place in a simply stunning area.
The house is near the medieval town of Sarnano. They are on the edge of the famous Sibelline National Park, well known for its mountains and flora and fauna. The area is hilly with beautiful hilltop towns and villages. It is a genuine rural community and yet has many facilities. Sarnano has a spa, lots of shops, an art gallery and restaurants.
There is almost too much to do in the local area - walking, climbing, horse riding, paragliding, quad biking, opera, museums and there is even the beach about 40 minutes away. The largest cave system in Europe is about 1 1/2 hours drive and well worth a day out as it is truly spectacular.
Ski: There is skiing in the Sibelline mountains in the winter months. About 30 minutes from the house to the slopes
